My friend came to visit after I had a EMCS, DS had just come out of SCBU and she said he looked like "a paki oompah loompah' Sad I was so Shock I just sat there gaping like a fish.

Had DS when I was 17. Long labour, DS stopped breathing while I was holding him and he was whisked away - v scary. He was given back for 5 mins then taken away so I could have stitches. Ex boyfriend pipes up, 'Right I'm shattered, I'm off home for a sleep' and just walked out the room. Never felt so lonely and frightened in my life. :( remember going back up to ward alone after visiting DS alone and someone else's DP telling me I had blood all over me. Just one of the worst memories ever. :(

Luckily have v little to do with ex now!!! He had no tact at all!

MIL to my husband the day we got home from hospital after our son was born (we were kept in for few days while he had antibiotics as was very lethargic and slow to feedfor some reason):

"You look exhausted darling - why don't you go and have a lie down"

Not like he just pushed out a baby on gas and air / been up all night with worry / feeding...

BettyandDon · 27/06/2012 08:17

Same as Charlotte below...MW patted tummy and said 'well this won't go down you'll need to exercise!". Funny though she was right...

DamnDeDoubtance · 27/06/2012 15:39

"Bet your pleased she isn't ginger like you" Sad

2 hours after home-birth with DC3, I answered the door in a bit of a daze and in my pjs. A neighbour, who'd I'd never spoken to before, had some post in her hand that wasn't addressed to her, so she wanted to know if it was ours. I felt slightly embarrassed about being in my nightclothes, so I explained that I'd just had a baby. She looked a bit flustered, then half an hour later came back, with 2 jars of 7 month baby food in her hand and just sort of shoved them at me!

FIL - 'Thank you for giving us a grandson!'
Fair enough, it was their first grandchild, but it had been a difficult birth and I wanted to say 'I didn't do it for YOU!'.

girlsyearapart · 27/06/2012 20:46

MIL- about 5 hours after I'd had dd3 & had just arrived home.

'Is that definitely her name then?'

Me 'yes'

MIL 'Well I don't like it & won't be calling her it.'

Me ' Well she won't be answering you then'

She has only recently stopped calling her bubs & started using her name. She'll be 2 in 4 weeks!!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 27/06/2012 21:01

As the midwife laid dd2 on my chest, I heard in my euphoric jubilation my dh say 'oh well, perhaps the next one will be a boy'.

He swears he was joking but he's always wanted a son so I'm not sure I believe him.

He's out of luck now, I don't think I want anymore.

GrasshopperNchipmunk · 28/06/2012 17:02

The student paramedic who attended my unplanned homebirth, whilst pulling a sheet up over my boobs... 'let's preserve that dignity'!!!!

Oh, and everyone had so much praise for my DH for doing such a good job delivering our baby at home Hmm

Badgerina · 29/06/2012 08:41

Ex's mum: "Oh no! He looks like you!"

Fuck off then Angry

TinkerTills · 29/06/2012 23:49

After EMCS and before DC had been handed to me the Dr says "your ovaries look good"....

Flobbadobs · 30/06/2012 13:48

Thats a hell of a chat up line TinkerTills!
After all 3 births: "is baby ginger?"
After 3rd baby, planned homebirth, mw says to DH, "you look a bit tired love, need a sit down?"

jaffacakehips · 30/06/2012 14:13

"Well it's not like you gave birth properly" Shock

FIL girlfriend at post 4 days. I had a EMCS after everything and I mean everything fail to get DD out. What a cow.
