Just wondering what the first thing all you ladies said (or yelled) after giving birth.
My dp has constantly made fun of me since our ds was born in november, as I literally hollered 'it's over!!!!!' ...loud enough for unoccupied midwives at the station to dash in and congratulate us.
Nothing like the teary..'oh my gosh he's beautiful' i expected.
Little did i know it was far from over as i then had retained placenta and had to go into theatre and get a spinal block to have it removed..but thats another story....

"What shall we call him, he needs a name!" Obsessed with naming him instantly which meant DH got to choose from our shortlist!

TambaTheTemptress · 30/01/2006 15:36

DS1 - Why isnt he crying

DS2 - nothing for a while, i went into shock!

Blackduck · 30/01/2006 15:38

Really can't remember. Do remember thinking 'is he okay'...neo natal drs had whisked him off. Can't remember getting from theatre to recovery room. Went into shock and couldn't stop shaking....

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 15:54

this is great..maybe another thread of second things said is neccesary?
though i personally only remeber a stream of thoughts, many of which are fully unexpressable overwhelming falling in love emotions, but intermixed with things like 'why won't she go away' (re.midwife who was trying to tell me i still had to deliver the placenta) , 'why wouldn't they give me any pain relief', and 'why is he wrapped in this nasty peach towel, wheres his nice blankets'
teeheee

'crikey', followed by 'the writing is on the wall here; something tells me he's going to wail that loudly for a long, long time' (how right I was ).

DH whispered in my ear, 'his bollocks are enormous'.

laundrylover · 30/01/2006 15:59

I famously said 'Oh that wasn't as hard as I thought!' which was captured on video (not the birth though) and has amused my friends ever since!
Think I should watch the video again as due in 7 weeks and this one is already as big as No 1 was at birth!!!

Blackduck · 30/01/2006 16:01

Dp's first words to me once ds was delivered was a pained 'can I have my thumb back now please'....

expatinscotland · 30/01/2006 16:02

I told you it was a girl!

Both times.

zephyrcat · 30/01/2006 16:04

I can't remember with either of them!!

I know with DD the first thing dp said was "Guess what?" because he knew I was secretly hoping for a girl

When ds was born as soon as dp saw him he said "Huge bollocks!!" I don't think I said much after that...nor did any one else in the room!!!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 30/01/2006 16:04

With DD:
"What is it?"

"HAH! Told you so"

lanismum · 30/01/2006 16:06

think i said what is it, followed by is it ok, followed by did i tear!!!

biglips · 30/01/2006 16:06

i had an emergency c-section and was awake during the op... as soon baba came out to the world - screaming - i said "it is a boy?", DP said "no its a girl", "it is a boy?", dp said "NO, its a GIRL!" "a girl??????"

as i was expecting a boy as i was all front and people had been telling me throughout my pg that i was having a boy... little know i had a girl

And she is the most BEAUTIFUL thing ive ever seen!!! (all teary!)

fairyjay · 30/01/2006 16:07

'So it's you who's been kicking me all this time!'

QE2 · 30/01/2006 16:08

dh's first words after ds4 was "Oh shit I dropped the camera!"

4blue1pink · 30/01/2006 16:09

ds1 ' Is it alright....a BOY????'

dd "Ace " (when they said its a girl - soooooo teenager of the eighties phrase!)

ds2 ' what is it.......it bloody would be!' ( poor lamb but it was painful!'

ds3 ' Is it alright ..is it alright?' very panicked - it was quick

baby5 ......( jaws music - 6 days to update!'

JackieNo · 30/01/2006 16:10

DD: 'How on earth did all that fit inside me?'. She wasn't particularly big, but did seem very long, as I recall.

DS: can't remember.

Spidermama · 30/01/2006 16:11
  1. It's a girl. It's Stella.
2. Thank f*ck for that. 3. It's another boy. 4. What have we got then? (MW's silence informed me he was another boy).
edam · 30/01/2006 16:13

'Oh, it's you!' (had this strong feeling of recognition - as if I was meeting someone I already knew).

4blue1pink · 30/01/2006 16:14

Lol spider - my dp's silence indicated clearly another boy with ds3 !!!!

charliecat · 30/01/2006 16:15

"We will have a boy next time"

Have 2 dds now and no desire at all for a boy, think because Id assumed it was a boy I said that.
Sounds awful I know.

Pinotmum · 30/01/2006 16:16

Dd : Does anyone know what it is? A girl!
Ds : There you are (kissed his head)

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 16:18

lmao 4blue4pink..how great!

and sorry if it offends spidermama but i had visions of you seeing the baby then being handed a beer..
oh dear.

babyonboard · 30/01/2006 16:19

Spidermama · 30/01/2006 16:20

A beer? Really? Badoit actually.

franch · 30/01/2006 16:22

After horrendous birth of DD1: "It was worth it."

After half-hour labour in our bathroom with DD2: "I DID IT!!!"
