I am 38+3 with DC2. Hoping for a VBAC after an EMCS for DC1 with who I got to 9cm's with.

I have had period cramps for over a week, two lots of plug coming away and last night lots of tight feelings high in my bump. The period like cramps are really painful and often are alongside sharp pains down below.

I have a week to go into labour, otherwise I am booked for a CS. I am so fed up of symptom spotting and being in this 'is it- is it not?' place. I went into labour at 38+4 with DC1.

So someone come along and tell me lie to me that todays the day. Grin

40+8 today, not a twinge, and I am officially going mad. My midwife has discovered that the foetal welfare unit has no interest in me and won't see me unless there's actually something wrong, which there isn't apart from overdueness, and has referred me to a consultant the day after tomorrow. Who will no doubt tell me all the stuff I already know about the risks of going any more overdue and recommend induction, to which I will say what I usually say, that I understand them perfectly, and don't want to be induced unless there's a demonstrable medical need. My MLU won't let me give birth there after next Monday (42 weeks) anway, and I can't have a waterbirth in the ordinary labour suite.

I feel like ripping everyone's heads off. A passing youth made a 'Whoo!' noise at my very jutty bump as I walked four miles home from my acupuncture session, and I read the gobby little shite the riot act. The only people in the world I don't hate are other overdue women.

I am now sitting on my birthball digging my knuckles into my ankle pressure points, but I no longer believe this baby will ever come out.

Flisspaps · 27/03/2012 21:14

HardCheese at 40+8 you're not actually overdue, you're still within the realms of normal pregnancy - overdue is when you get to 40+14 which is probably why the foetal welfare unit isn't interested in you Wink

feekerry · 27/03/2012 21:18

Okay checking out for tonight ladies. Nothing for me since my snotty pants earlier :-) joy I fully expect to check in tomorrow to find out that you have sneezed. Keep going. It'll all be done by tomorrow. hardcheese your pretty much same as me, dates, no symptoms yet etc. Boring isn't it. Anyway lets all hope for some sneeze action tonight. Over and out. X

DreamingOfPeace · 27/03/2012 21:45

Yes, come on ladies, some good big sneezes please :-)

DaydreamDolly · 27/03/2012 22:05

I'm seriously considering cod liver oil....

HardCheese · 27/03/2012 23:38

I know, Flisspaps - but under current policy at my hospital, they would be inducing me on the grounds of EDD alone at 40+ 10, which makes no sense to me. The fact that I think the dates are off by a week or so, anyway, and the fact I feel absolutely fine, and the baby is active etc etc doesn't seem to cut any mustard. I feel like a broken sodding record, and am massively pissed off the MLU won't admit me after 40+14.

I've no particular desire to go to the foetal welfare unit, am perfectly happy to pootle along as I am (only without the You Are Endangering Your Baby's Welfare implications) but if someone produced an actual reason to induce from a scan indicating placental failure or something, I'd consider it! Aaargh.

Feekerry, at least you have things going on in your Nether Regions!

Joygirl78 · 28/03/2012 00:22

Can't sleep. Tried for an hour. Slows contractions to every 8 mins, but they are super intense and becoming unmanageable. If I move around they are much more frequent. I have no idea whether I am dilating at all. V unhappy as this was exactly what happened last time. Laboured all night on a bed in terrible pain. No dilation, ended up with Epi and drip and exhaustion. Surely surely if I move around they will come faster and my labour will move along quicker - I can go to hospital, get g&a and hopefully be dilated?????

brighthair · 28/03/2012 01:12

Just read this all the way through - congratulations to the 2 babies born on the 23rd - best day to be born on WinkWink

I would say if you can't sleep, then move around but try not to exhaust yourself. Good luck Smile

DaydreamDolly · 28/03/2012 08:00

Roll call....I'm still here, symptoms of labour all vanished. 40+12.
Joy hope you made progress in the night

DreamingOfPeace · 28/03/2012 08:12

Oh joy, i hope for all that it felt like it might go the same you were dilating like a good 'un.

What's the theory behind castor oil?
Something grim springs to mind... dolly, I reckon you'll go into labour out of the blue with not a symptom in sight til its started! 40+12... Gah.

I, of course, am still here.

Flisspaps · 28/03/2012 08:21

Castor oil irritates the bowel which is then thought to stimulate the uterus. However it can cause your baby to pass meconium which is why it's not recommended for use to get things going.

granule · 28/03/2012 08:34

Morning all. i know i'm not really qualified to be here at only 38 weeks but I'm utterly miserable and need a whine..

I've had SPD since 10 weeks and now can hardly sleep or walk. 2yo DS is driving me billy-bonkers. He was ten sodding days late. I might have three or more weeks of this

Any action from you ladies in the night?

DaydreamDolly · 28/03/2012 08:40

Sorry you're suffering granule have a Brew and a Biscuit
Don't worry Fliss I'm not going to do the castor oil trick, twas just a joke. Can't believe I can still crack a joke but there you go Grin
Dreaming I hope so! Someone I know was due yesterday, and gave birth yesterday! How is that possible I ask you?!

feekerry · 28/03/2012 08:51

Morning all. Cant believe i'm still pregnant. Woke up with bad back pain last night and got bit excited but now its gone and today is yet another day. I know next week is still a while away but really cant see this happening without an induction now. Its been 48 hours since my second sweep so doubt thats worked and 24 hours since I lost some plug and absolutely nothing has kicked off. Its a real shame as my parents are flying over on friday as they live in another country and flying back on the sunday. Had really hoped they could spend the weekend with me and the new baby as they cant come over again until end of april. At this rate the baby wont even be here and there flights are non refundable.

Flisspaps · 28/03/2012 08:52

granule I've been here for a few weeks already and I'm only 39w myself Wink I am hoping to at least allow the others all give birth ahead of me so they don't feel quite so hard done to Grin

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 28/03/2012 08:59

40+11 and sat here in absolute horror at the prospect of this mornings sweep. Am having horrible thoughts about the horrid midwife who induced me so roughly with dd and it's making me feel sick :( But I know it's only for a little while and if it gets things moving then I can't complain (though I probably will, loudly.)

Flisspaps · 28/03/2012 09:00

feekerry if baby's not here, it's not here. However, he/she will still be newborn by the end of April so they won't miss out on those lovely snuggles AND you'll have had time to get your head around what's what Smile

However, your baby will come today ready for their arrival Grin

daydream I appear to be suffering a sense of humour failure Blush so apologies Smile aalthough the amount of posts I read on this forum mentioning castor oil as a serious suggestion makes me Angry as at least every other pointless self induction method will only knacker out the mother rather than knackering mother AND distressing baby!

Got up early with DH this morning to check he was suited and booted appropriately (mmm-hmm!) and then promptly started throwing up in the living room bin after he left Confused Fortunately DD was still in bed so I got to puke in peace, and I feel OK now. Oh the joys...3 weeks to go!

DaydreamDolly · 28/03/2012 09:23

Fliss no apology needed at all! Smile
What bought on your sickness?? Is it my wishful thinking that it might be early labour for you??!!

feekerry · 28/03/2012 09:28

Deep breath fuckity as you've already had bits of show and cramps etc it might be all you need just to get it going. Just think you could have it done then go into labour tonight ! fliss I know what you mean but I think what worries me more is i'll have two sets of grandparents here this weekend all waiting for the action to kick off and if it does i'll be favouring my parents which will upset my mil greatly but suppose its not about pleasing anyone else.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 28/03/2012 09:32

Feekerry, I have grandparents arriving from hugely cross country on Saturday, they're taking dd for a little holiday on Monday so I'm feeling the pressure too. And I desperately want some time as a family before dd is whisked away :( Stupid me and my neverending pregnancies. Midwife still not here. I will need a gin and tonic at this rate.

DaydreamDolly · 28/03/2012 09:43

Fuckity sorry missed your earlier post, have that gin and brace yourself! Grin
It'll be over in a flash and at least you'll know where you stand. Eagerly awaiting your cervix report, good luck x

Joygirl78 · 28/03/2012 10:46

Baby girl, born at 4.58 this morning. Laboured from 8pm, laid down for second time at 1.30 am with very intense contractions every 10mins on tens. At 3.30 got up, contractions immediately every 1-2 mins. Raced to hospital screaming the place down. Drive took 6 mins at that time in the morning. Baby out in less than 45 mins on gas and air. She is 8lb3. Knackered. Fed straight away. I am shakey and a fair few stitcches as it was pretty fast. We'll be home this evening after 5 following obs for meconium in waters

DaydreamDolly · 28/03/2012 10:50

CONGRATULATIONS!! Another baby girl! Fab news you did so well Grin Thanks

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 28/03/2012 11:05

Oh Joy well done Grin Huge huge congratulations.
Well, the midwife's just left and thankfully no gin and tonic was needed. She was incredibly gentle actually, I've had worse smears. According to the yellow sticker now adorning my notes, cervix is posterior, 1-2 in length, soft and 1cm dilated. Station at -2. I was planning on staying in afterwards, anticipating pain but tbh I feel fine so am off out to the park with ds and a picnic. Have another midwife booked for Friday to do another one, and if nothing happens then Monday is D Day as far as induction goes.

LILI80 · 28/03/2012 11:05

Congratulations Joy! So encouraging to see people going in to labour and having their babies. There's hope for me yet Smile

fuckity Snap! I'm too waiting on the midwife to turn up. Apparently she should be here before 1pm!! I'm actually feeling a bit sick at the prospect too. I'm hoping that by some miracle this will work and I'll go into labour tonight or even better she tells me I'm already in labour when she goes to do the sweep Grin nice thought but can't see it.....
