Just interested as tomorrow is my due date (never thought I would reach it as DD1 was 15 days early) anyway every man and his dog is telling me to have sex and it's the only surefire way to kickstart labour!!!

Have already tried a few times this week but to no avail and it's not easy when you have bad SPD/SI pain anyway, just wanted a quick poll on how many of you out there credited having sex as starting your labour off?

Right is due date today have told DP he has to perform his duty he got me into this mess he can get me out!

Will let you know how I get on (with kickstarting labour not the actual sex pmsl as it's not going to be earth shattering at 9 months pregnant lets face it)!

any news?

Try a long walk!
I walked nearly 1.5 miles got some funny "tummy ache" which I thought was indigestion, came home got in to bed and before I could close my eyes I was getting contractions every 7 mins, about 1hr later my waters broke and baby arrived after four hours!
Thank god I'd planned a home birth!!

jessicaandrebeccasmummy · 14/01/2006 22:31

Nope SK.... NOTHING worked here! No sex/pineapple/walks/curry/CASTOR OIL!

What did it?! Lifting jess up and down all afternoon killing my back!

Good Luck sweety - cant WAIT to hear!

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 22:35

I remember your desperation JARM and I was thinking I'll go early again won't need all that but hey here I am.......

Abbie has a bad cold so has been mega clingy to me all day so I don't think lifting her up and down has worked.

Have already tried a long walk, clary sage bath, and a curry today.

Well as you know Sweetkitty, I'm beginning to think not! If 6mg prostin can't shift this boy then I don't know what 10cc of semen will do!

40+10 today and after 5 days in hospital and one night home, I'm back in today for another go.... (would stay here but have symptoms of pre-eclampsia) wish me luck!

sweetkitty · 15/01/2006 12:12

well still here so disproved the theory!

I went on an hours power walk (well power for a heavily pregnant woman) the day before I was due. Had doggy style sex and then had nmy show. Waters broke in the morning the day I was due and that evening had a hot curry and practiced all my fav yoga moves to help baby make its way out. Used my birth ball all day and evening and that evening it all started.

Of course I will never know but the week before I had an idea it would not be long. I suddenly became very calm and felt "ready", i had everthing organised and i told baby everyday that they could come. I did alot of visualistion when i practiced yoga daily in my last two weeks. Throughout the rest of my pregnancy i practiced yoga once- twice a week. The meditation side made me feel like was really connecting with the baby.

I am doing it again with this pregnancy and I will do everything the same so lets see if it works for a second time.

Good luck!

lucykate · 15/01/2006 12:38

for me it was DIY.

don't mean diy sex , i mean diy as in decorating!

Meid · 15/01/2006 16:07

Sweetkitty we have the same due date. Kept expecting it to happen yesterday but they don't really come on their due date do they??

Anyway, to answer the question I'm sure sex triggered my labour with my DD. Within about 12 hours of doing the deed I had a show and it started from there. But I was overdue so who knows.

Am going to try sex tonight to see if it works this time around.

Anyway, off to munch on some pineapple and sip another mug of raspberry leaf tea.

We went sofa buying in the morning. Lots of sitting down and standing up. Sex (doggy style - TMI apologies) at about 7pm. Waters broke at 11pm, LO born 6 hours later. Ultra embarrassing admission but 30 mins after waters broke, I forced a pooh out as was scared of doing it in labour - convinced that made it so fast!

springerspaniel · 23/01/2006 17:05

mumatuks - yours sounds like mine. I too went for hill walk day before. Was 4 days over and didn't want to be induced as was scared of fast, painful labour. Ha!

emmawill · 25/01/2006 18:52

Didn't work 1st time round, am trying this time as am 5 days over my due date and don't want to be induced again. However only had in the spoons position might try doggy instead, not as I ever feel it when I'm the size of a bus!

Nope I tried doggy style last night and it was very uncomfortable and the baby is still in me am going to try reflexology if nothing else at least I'll feel more pampered!

Pfer · 26/01/2006 10:21

not actually sex, but an orgasm def started ds2 off - started within 2hrs!

Bimble · 26/01/2006 12:47

I reckon it works -very undignified 'can't really be arsed but sick of being pregnant' doggy attempt seemed to bring on labour for me

Beetroot · 26/01/2006 12:50

biglips · 26/01/2006 12:50

With me it was either the sex, the diy (varnishing) or the swimming, did each the day before ds arrived on his due date. All sounds wonderful, except I haven't been that energetic since.
