Who many of you are convinced sex kickstarted your labour?

Just interested as tomorrow is my due date (never thought I would reach it as DD1 was 15 days early) anyway every man and his dog is telling me to have sex and it's the only surefire way to kickstart labour!!!

Have already tried a few times this week but to no avail and it's not easy when you have bad SPD/SI pain anyway, just wanted a quick poll on how many of you out there credited having sex as starting your labour off?

Oh SK - its awful, the pg waiting game. I do feel for you.

Didnt work for me, but thats coz DP wouldnt do it for me he just bought me a curry instead........

Frizbetheexpansionset · 13/01/2006 23:03

SK I'm sure it worked for me, but on the other hand I also calc'd my actual cycle dates and I'm a 32 dayer, unlike the hosp who assume your a 28 standard cycle and they base your delivery dates on this, so bearing this in mind, dd wasn't 4 days late, she was on time!!!

hunkermunker · 13/01/2006 23:05

SK, it did for me with DS (two hours later - could've done with a full night's sleep really!), but I was 10 days over, so who knows - I might've gone into labour then anyway.

Good luck for tonight - and I would say it can't hurt to try, but by heck, it can, eh?!

PS - I would say I'm in the same position as you, but not on this thread!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:07

Ewwwww - dont want to hear about your pg lady sex positions - ewwwwwwwwwwwwww

tmi! TMI!

Blossomhill · 13/01/2006 23:14

How on earth can you have sex at full term? I would not let dh anywhere near!

expatinscotland · 13/01/2006 23:33

I am!

hunkermunker · 13/01/2006 23:34

Noooo, meant I was in the same position being due tomorrow!

skerriesmum · 13/01/2006 23:34

Definitely! We were doing perineal stretching exercises together, followed by, ahem, and less than 12 hours later I felt the first stirrings. (I always pretend, wow, ds came right on time, I thought he would be so late )

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:38

it was 12 hours before you felt stirrings? Your poor DP!

Hunker, do you really expect me to believe that? Honestly.

hunkermunker · 13/01/2006 23:40

It's true though! SK and I both due tomorrow!

Blondeinlondon · 13/01/2006 23:41

me

Heathcliffscathy · 13/01/2006 23:43

definitely me. did it and then had show next day....followed by labour that evening, 5 days early....

however, i think that for this to work you have to [ahem] enjoy it iyswim

skerriesmum · 13/01/2006 23:44

I meant 12 hours after we'd finished, so 12 hours and about 10 minutes

VeniVidiVickiQV · 13/01/2006 23:45

oh ok! was PMSL at your simultaneous prostoglandin injections!

marthamoo · 13/01/2006 23:45

I think sex may have kick-started my pregnancy...

fuzzywuzzy · 13/01/2006 23:46

I'll never know, I was two weeks overdue with dd1 and we were going to ...except my waters broke first.
With dd2 I went into labour two weeks before my due date so never needed the assistance.

hunkermunker · 13/01/2006 23:50

MM, yes, mine too Seemed only fitting it should, er...top and tail pregnancy, so to speak

Speaking of which, why am I sitting at the PC when I could be...tailing it?! PMSL! Sorry Am in odd mood...

gingernut · 14/01/2006 00:06

LOL. Yes, I think labour with ds1 may have been started off by sex (after a week of eating pineapple to no avail). With ds2 I just couldn't face it but he came actually earlier (or rather, less late).

VeniVidiVickiQV · 14/01/2006 00:22

OMG! whats wrong with me, all i can see on this thread is double entenndres!

sweetkitty · 14/01/2006 08:10

Thanks just couldn't face it last night it's bad enough trying to get comfy enough to sleep nevermind anything else!

Definitely worked for us twice!!! First ds arrived after a curry and relations - 2nd time was Christmas eve and after relations waters broke within 20 minutes and ds2 was born on Christmas day!!!

charliecat · 14/01/2006 09:13

Worked for us. 5 minutes later I went into labour and now my dds have the same birthday Good timing

poppiesinaline · 14/01/2006 17:51

When due with no 3 was desperate to bring things on and almost begged DH to have sex with me one Sunday evening. He refused. Monday morning at 4 am I went into labour. So if he had agreed I would have sworn sex had done it!!

Serendippity · 14/01/2006 18:17

i am totaly convinced. We had sex on my due date, 2 hours laster i started to niggle, i fully went to labour the next day at 10.30am and she was born at 6.07pm. As she was my first apparently it's unusual for her to a) arrive on time and b) arrive so quickly.

tortoiseshell · 14/01/2006 18:45

Definitely with no. 2. Absolutely. No doubt.
