8cm is definitely time to crack open the gas and air... i was 8cm when we got to the hospital and dd2 was with us wthin the hour.

It was him tinkling with her ivories which got her into this position!

I haven't got a thing done all day, I've had to pretend to be on an online game to DH because if I explained I had been glued to the pregnancy of a woman I'd never met and now couldn't spend any time with the DS' because I was waiting for her's to emerge I think he'd have me taken away C'mon nickel, the most extraordinary moment of your life is happening now and we are all holding your hand (or keeping well out of the way and not even breathing loudly if that is what you need )

What happens if we get to 1000 posts again? Friend 1 you will have to start a new thread please :) if we get that far.

Perhaps he can have a bash at the Hallelujah Chorus for the actual arrival?

I think I'm a little bit in love with nickel's DH now too. The image of him there serenading her on the piano brought tears to my eyes. Go nickel's DH too

My dh spent most of the time sitting in the hospital cafe and avoiding looking at anything too graphic

This baby is going to be so looked after and loved.

I'd better not mention live music to my partner or he'll be playing his guitar whilst I give birth. And trust me, no one needs that!!

Oh wow 8cm, almost there! And having a newborn at Christmas is just so magical, I've come over all teary remembering DD's first Christmas, she was 3 weeks old and totally unimpressed by it all

I'm loving the idea that maternity wards up and down the country are going to be full of DHs desperately serenading their birthing wives as a result of this thread . Since DH can only just manage a triangle it's probably a good job we're not planning any more

Fernando! Oh dear better practise my pelvic floor exercises me thinks, I laughed so hard that made me dribble Nickel's DH sounds lovely :)

This brings back so many memories for me. My ds was born on 12/12/00 and we had a lovely first christmas snuggled up with him.

Dinner is nearly ready so either do it now or wait about half an hour?

No way is this baby going to remain inside until 9pm!

My DH said it was because he'd been playing with his organ

Nickle we're still with you, 8cm is nearly there - keep breathing, try and relax and when the midwife says push pretend you're having a very large poo

RockStock DD is far more impressed this year (she's 4).

Mostly by the fact that I have Father Christmas on speed dial
