I love that your description of the pain levels makes perfect sense to me, and I can remember it all so well, even though the last time I had a 'normal' delivery was 17½ years ago!

Keep it up Nickel, you really are doing brilliantly, I cannot imagine being able to post and be in labour at the same time. possibly because we didn't tend to have laptops and broadband then

Just checking in to add my support. So glad things are finally happening for you. Just remember once baby is here you forget the pain in an instant and even when you look back on it it's in a kind of surreal, hazy way. This is the hard bit and it'll be over in a flash. As you get further into things you'll begin to lose all concept of time. Hours pass in seconds and minutes feel like a lifetime.

If I could offer one piece of advice that was invaluable to me it would be hide the clocks. All of them. Let someone keep a watch to time the contractions for you but you do not need to be sat there calculating how long you've been in pain for.

And I predict a lovely baby girl born at 16:12 weighing 9lbs 2oz (but a lovely squishy 9lb 2oz that's all baby chub and not bony shoulders so she'll be a pleasure to birth)

DD2 was born at home, it was lovely. Almost 11 years ago so I can't remember when I called the MW.
I do remember using lots of gas and air because she forgot about the gaps between contractions.
