Lovely to hear from you! Thought we'd frightened you off and we all seemed like the people you were fighting off in the shop and at the carol service.

Did you sleep well?

Damn just lost my post! No baby pseudoSad was keeping fingers crossed for you. I'm 40+7 today 3 more days and then my lovely homebirth will have to be scrapped oh well. Have you thought about what you want to talk to the consultant about?

Slightlytinsellyexpat · 08/12/2011 07:54

No, xyou didn't sleep well, I have just re-read your post and it was a farty night. :o

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 07:55

morning nickel I think today is your day.

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 08:00

talkin - no, you don't have to scrap it at 40+10.
NICE states 42 weeks before they even have to monitor you (that's why i'm holding on!)
If you agree to the monitoring, they can't force you to scrap your HB.

I hope today is the day - it is the most inconvenient day so far. (knowing my cover is definitely coming tomorrow because her train si booked and can't be shifted, and DH is working so won't be able to help!)

Right, I'm going back off to bed until 9.
(I spent the night forcing myself not to post, cos i didn't want to keep posting the same boring nothing's happening get anyone's hopes up (least of all mine! Grin )

AntarcticEther · 08/12/2011 08:02

Thought id pop in to check progress . Surely today is the day ?

40+8 today and not even a twinge . Have induction booked for 40+14. Hope I can still have the water birth I would like . Wish I never started maternity leave so bloody early, I've ran out of things to do .

Slightlytinsellyexpat · 08/12/2011 08:04

Ssshhhh. Nickel is getting another hour's kip. Meet you back here about 9am.

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 08:05

Oh that's good to know happy to hang on to 14 Smile, you are the queen of NICE I am a health professional and i don't read them it better come out before then though, that's a whoole week away.

sparkling i'd like some tea and toast, we have run out of food in our house again Blush need to do some shopping, dh had to take the babies to breakfast club as we had no cereal. Thank god for breakfast club.

CarolCervix · 08/12/2011 08:08

what have I missed? a last 24 hours update please.

usingapseudonym · 08/12/2011 08:10

No baby here yet. Appointment very soon. It's out patient so just to discuss induction or c section and to get a date. I've started a new thread for induction stories so as not to clutter nickel's thread. I love the idea of the baby book worm. You could host rhyme time and story telling :-) I can't believe neither of us have had a baby after all the signs last week! All the best today nickel. I'll update with a date later !

YougreatChristmaspudding · 08/12/2011 08:17

Carol - nothing has happened, Nickel needs to rest (please order her to rest :) ) Isbn is attempting escape yet.

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 08:22

Having had one induction with syntocin and one completely natural birth the only thing I shall be doing if I end up with syntocin again is not trying to be a hero and getting them to site my epidural before my drip and then spending the next few hours reading mags whilst it does it's stuff.

usingapseudonym · 08/12/2011 08:31

That's the big decision isn't it? I'd quite like to feel when to push and would like to be mobile but the thought of induced contractions and no available anaesthetists is scary !

youtalkintomeunderthemiseltoe · 08/12/2011 08:40

That's the mistake i think i made when induced, i said i wanted to let my epidural wear off to feel when to push, still didn't get any urge to push but felt everything, ended up with a ventouse, episiotomy and no pain relief at all. For me if i end up down that route i shall just go the whole hog and have the lot. what my plan is this time is for them to allow them to break my waters i won't need pessaries as i'm already dilated a bit or just baggy for induction then give my up to 6 hours i think to get things under way, if my contractions are good i shall be allowed back to my natural birth plan in pool but in the hospital, all that provided the baby is happy of course.

OhDoAdmitMrsDeVere · 08/12/2011 08:50

How are we all doing Ladies in Waiting (my little 'joke' ho ho)

You having a homebirth Nickle?

I am sitting here visualising all of your cervixes (?) opening like flowers

Ommmmmmmmmmmm

TheOriginalFAB · 08/12/2011 08:54

Not sure if coincidence or not but I was busy all day with 1 or 2 babies and both times with dc2 and 3 I went into labour at 9.30 as I got into bed.

I hope you are keeping an eye on movements nickel and getting lots of rest and nice food. I have to wait in for a delivery today but am free after about 10 tomorrow if you want another pair of hands or some company in the shop.

What baby things do you still need? I have just been in the loft and there is stuff up there that won't get used again for any more FAB Babies Sad.

LittleDonkeyhadaMadHairDay · 08/12/2011 08:58

Morning Nickel :)

Also thinking Isben a great name Xmas Smile

nickelbabe · 08/12/2011 09:28

morning again!

Actually, my biggest worry at the moment is that my cervix is still high and closed.
I'm sure it can't be still high, and must be at least a little bit "ripe", because of al lthe period pains I've had (and sometiems that feeling that my fanjo is baggy around my knees)
but if I let the MW do a VE and find the cervix is out of reach, I'll cry.
(and that's cos it'll open a whole new can of worms - if the cervix isn't ready at this stage, then I won't have any choice but to go for induction, surely? The one thing I'm hoping for is that it's on its way, and ready to go, and just playing a waiting game. The one thing I'm worried about is that it's stuck in some weird limbo)

anyway, getting ready for work, will check in again when I get there.
:)

have you had a scan?
you are sure it isn't just wind?

Flisspaps · 08/12/2011 09:36

nickelbabe but as you said to someone else earlier, you don't have to go for induction, you can have expectant management after 42 weeks if you so choose.

You can't stay pregnant forever. And your cervix could go from high and closed to ready in a really short space of time.

DutchOma · 08/12/2011 09:42

Expectant management sounds good and not nearly so frightening as induction in a hospital. Just see if you can get Rose on side for that and also if you can persuade her to do this management close to where you are as the stress of 8 miles each way to Medway seems utterly daft.

ChippingInNeedsSleep · 08/12/2011 09:49

Morning :)

It's lovely that you'll be taking Isben/Ben (if it's a girl you have to call her Isben if it's a boy is has to be Ben) into the shop with you :) It will be considerably less lovely when they're a toddler - but you have over a year to become the highest turnover bookshop in the UK so that you can afford an assistant, full time. Fingers crossed.
