I just read this article and I am so shocked at how they can categorically ban cesarean sections!
www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2028443/Hospitals-ban-pregnant-women-having-c-sections-cost-cutting-move.html?ITO=google_news_rss_feed

I'm pregnant and I was going to ask for a cesarean. Reading this article has made me lose all hope.

Why do I care at all? because the original article was about ELCS on the NHS which everyone who pays taxes in this country pays for. I don't actually care whether you have an ELCS or not, it's up to you as you will be paying for it. i have no axe to grind, other than to suggest you take the advice of HCPs over the God of Google when making decisions that affect you and your baby. But it matters to me not one jot.

Sorry Bag of Holly, it's like picking a scab...........

"God is it that ELCS-obsessed fooltard AGAIN? I thought this had been nipped in the bud and she'd nobbed off back to Canada to find a fella. It's dull now."

I have no idea who are you talking about. I'm not crawling all the threads around here becasue I have better things to do mostly, but today I have a writer's block and wanted to get away from that. I don't even remembere many posters' names. I registered today just to reply to this thread and post my observations about this type of threads and already I've been accused twice that I'm a troll or a mental patient. Actually, it is a very sad message about the state of your open-mindedness and ability to accept that other people's opinions might be valid for them because you are not walking in their shoes, if not for you.

Have a go of my boil, instead!

RalucaV, kiss it. Kiss my boil. Go on. On the lips. Mmmmm.

RalucaV · 25/08/2011 23:31

BagofHolly,

I just reported your post, but I'm not going to fall to your level by telling you off more colourfully.

BagofHolly · 25/08/2011 23:37

Waaahhh! Flipping heck how uptight, I was just lightening the mood! Am properly laughing now! Sorry, didn't REALLY mean to offend! Just poking a bit!

Yes, and are you sure that this would be the biggest strain on NHS ever? Bigger than drunken people's injuries maybe? I still don't think this is something to get so worked up about when there are much more pressing issues for the NHS as I could see when I was in the UK.

"I don't actually care whether you have an ELCS or not, it's up to you as you will be paying for it."

No, I won't because where I'm now, they accept maternal request, especially in older mothers.

"i have no axe to grind, other than to suggest you take the advice of HCPs over the God of Google when making decisions that affect you and your baby. But it matters to me not one jot."

Patronizing again. Right, you suppose that I never read and google anything about it. Allright, you don't know me, so it is easy to assume anything. However, I did read and google quite extensively and still my pros and cons sheet goes way in favour of ELCS.

BagofHolly

Allright, allright then :)

I'm not really offended because if I was easily offended I could never go and debate things on message board. Still, I don't think this is something that should be a subject of jokes.

BagofHolly · 25/08/2011 23:47

I wasn't joking about ELCS, I was joking about you kissing my boil. On the lips. You want to. Mmmmm.

BagofHolly · 25/08/2011 23:47

Ok ok sorry, I'm done now! x

RalucaV · 25/08/2011 23:51

BagofHolly,

seriously! :)

posterofawolef · 26/08/2011 11:23

It must have been really cold under that bridge to need a sock that warm Smile

posterofawolef · 26/08/2011 11:28

Oh a FWIW babies don't know about ELCS. My friend had one booked and gave birth in the ambulance.

fruitybread · 26/08/2011 12:47

My MW and Consultant MW told me when I was booking my ELCS that it was extremely rare for labour to progress so quickly, that a planned ELCS couldn't be carried out.

Of course it can happen, for sure. Like pretty much anything else under the sun during labour and birth.

I was told that if I had any feeling at all that labour was starting, to get into the hospital asap, where they would assess me and proceed with the ELCS accordingly.

As it turned out, my waters went early, before my planned ELCS date, so this was all good and necessary advice!

And it was totally fine. I went in, was assessed, and they simply did the CS within 24 hours. No problem. As we know, few babies arrive on their due date, however their mothers give birth, and hospitals these days schedule CS's as close to 39 weeks as possible, to make sure the baby is full term and to minimise any problems caused by early delivery.

So it's a scenario they are very familiar with (labour starting before ELCS date), and can brief accordingly.

Yes I was saying you did use Google rather than talk to HCPs about the matter. Confused

RalucaV · 26/08/2011 14:35

northernruth,

sorry, it was obviously too late last night for me to be reading this and replying....

Anyway, HCPs don't live my life and I have no reason to believe that they are omnisapient and can even predict the future. They give me options, I read more about the options and then I decide because it's my responsibility if I damage my health or not. The fact that they studied human body doesn't make them into gods. And I can also read medical articles as well as they do and make my own conclusions, just like I do with other decisions I take. We do this everyday in many other areas and I don't see why we should let others decide in this case.

BTW. you still haven't answered my question about why you bother with someone else's choices and body so much.
