Just need to share as I am driving myself nuts!! I am 37 weeks today and woke up at 2.30am which a very sharp pain to the side of my bump which I had to breathe through. It coincided with a BH contraction. I lay there thinking oh goodness I am not ready for this!! Then I started timing things as I couldn't get back to sleep because the tightenings and period type pains were coming every 5 mins and lasting 30 secs. Not painful as such, but uncomfortable.

After an hour I needed the loo and lets say I cleared my bowels out Blush. I was awake for a further 2 hours before finally dropping off. I woke up at 7 still with the tightenings, just the same as before, which are still going now. I haven't had a show but have, er, done more bowel clearing.

Any ideas? This is my third so I should know really, but both my previous labours started with my waters breaking and then nothing for 12 hours before labour started in earnest.

I need to go to Tesco - dare I venture out?? DH doesn't believe things might be starting and we have a decorator coming tomorrow. I am planning a homebirth and all DH can say is wait until after the room has been painted Confused!!

Sorry this is so long, I am feeling a bit edgy!

Wonderful news gippingon...

but ohhhh ouch poor you! Hope you are being really well looked after. I'm sure your older 2 just love Sid. xx

Smile
StrangewaysHereICome · 22/02/2011 14:03

Whoop whoop a baby on this thread - an actual baby, hurrah!!!! Congrats gripping on the safe arrival of Sid (fab name!) but ooooch hope your stitches are okay. Make sure you rest when you can and I hope you are being spoilt rotten Grin.

I'm in a major grump today over everything, no baby, totally uncomfortable, can't do the things I want to, weather is cr@p boo boo boo! At least the children are behaving impeccably [relieved and proud emoticon]. I managed to haul my sorry self to the swimming pool this morning with them so they could splash while I bobbed about like a whale and then treated them to lunch at McDonalds. Am zonked now though, it was a major expedition Grin.

I refuse to get excited about the possibility of this baby arriving soon until I get that first bloody painful contraction - so there!! Grin Angry Grin!!

i want a crystal ball

Jupiter118 · 22/02/2011 16:26

congratulations grippingon ouch though at th burst stitches -ooh

stangeways the swimming trip sound like hard work - hang in there.

I have just been for a walk to the local shops, post office etc. Had nice cake and hit chocolate whilst there and the whole round trip ha made the cramps and BH worse than usual - sure that they will die off now though. Think my pelvic floor must be Fu**Ed as feels like everything might fall out when I walk - so not nice.

Hope that this evening brings labour for you ladies!

emilie89 · 22/02/2011 16:28

Congratulations grippingon, I love the name Sid!

Highland, the closest I'm going to get to a pedi is my oh cutting and painting my toenails for me last night which was very kind as I haven't reached down there for a while and I think they were starting to resemble tallons!

Had a lovely homemade curry last night and watched one born every minute in the vague hope that watching other births might trigger mine, no such luck!

Saw my midwife earlier and she has booked me for a scan tomorrow as I am measuring small for 39 weeks and have had high BP so am worried that the baby may have stopped growing :-(. Has anyone elae had experience of this?

Hope everyone else is well and getting on with delivering their babies!

Highlandgirl · 22/02/2011 16:47

Need to rant...then can someone please vitally slap me..and tell me (nicely, i might cry again Blush ) to get a grip and chill out.

40 week check up, at the hospital this afternoon!

Firstly:
Admin staff are a bunch of mongs..pay peanuts get monkeys (IMO) no wonder doctors, MW and nurses are stressed out. I'd like that job, looks piss easy and you can be as rude as you like, not pick up the phone and wearing ugg boots whist sitting on you butt drinking mugs of tea and having a flick through HELLO!.

Second:
Waited an hour and half to been seen..no bloody apologies either, so rude. Surely we should be bumped to the front at this stage! It's cruel to make anyone sit in a waiting room for that long esp when you can't open a window Shock and the seats are so uncomfortable.

Thirdly:
Baby won't play ball at all, head not engaged Sad. 'Come back next week' say's the doctor...ohh also your BP is too high, you'll need to go to the day assessment unit on Friday to have it check out. Too much fluid so baby is just 'floating'. So really it's already being a wee bugger, great.

Just gutted after all the drama at the weekend I was really hoping the lump might like to arrive, but nooooooo. DH said but the baby's just not ready yet..I don't care, I AM

Irishqueen when you have finished with your crystal ball please could you pass it this way Smile

Strangeways I'm impressed you went swimming, at least it would of taken so pressure of your joints etc. And knacker out the DC! Talking about 'whale's' my DH has started calling me the whaler, since I'm a vessel!

Well this vessel has reached it's port, time to off load it's cargo. Grin

Rant over, slap me please?

xxx

grippingon · 22/02/2011 16:54

To aall on thread thank you for your congrats, hve baby on bap so typiung eratic. I really feel for all of you and in a few weeks we will all have our babies i had forgotten how miserable i was last week it's been good to read back and see how desperate and in such pain I had become. you guys' support was fab thank you.

I am now having a dilemma, Sid is indeed a boss name but i think I might like Horace better. he looks like a Horace more than a Sidney, ds1 is Henry - am thinking henry and horace are fab brothers' names?
was hoping my dilemma will distract you from those god awful fanny pains!! love and baby poos xxx

Highlandgirl · 22/02/2011 17:37

grippingon has made a good point...we should be distracting ourselves.

So has anyone picked out baby names yet....??

Clearly grippingon is going to get our suggestions..I love Sid..but Horace is bloody brilliant, but, it makes me think of a horse. And I don't think your baby is a horse..does it have to be H based? What about Horatio??

Come on lets chat about something positive...like stuffing our faces (because we can) sex and wine!!!

grippingon · 22/02/2011 17:41

love Horatio ! Horace is old family name on cenotaph where i am from which gave me the idea.
sex-pah nevr again esp not now have 2nd vagina on my stomach LOL xxxx

StrangewaysHereICome · 22/02/2011 17:44

Highland consider yourself slapped, along with a firm shoulder grab and a stern stare!! Now don't panic or get disheartened. It's tough when you don't hear what you want to hear, but things can change so quickly. Babies can engage in blink of an eye! Don't stress, it's not good for the BP, but tbh I would imagine sitting and waiting that long probably didn't help on that score. Have a Brew, put your feet up and big hugs your way Wink.

Jupiter hmmm BH getting worse while walking eh? don't stop then, just keep walking til the baby comes out!! I have been stuffing cake too - yum yum, well the mw did tell me to keep eating so I am only following medical advice Grin.

Emilie how lucky are you? My DH won't go near my feet, he hates them - boo! So I have had to abandon them to their own devices as I am too Blush to get a professional to see them!

Grin at gripping oh the name wobble!! I love Sid and Horace, so it's up to you. So pleased you are so happy and all the pains of pregnancy are but a distant memory!

Come on everyone we need more babies!

grippingon · 22/02/2011 18:16

fb friend just pointed out horatio fellatio playground chant!!! horace looking good.....

cocoachannel · 22/02/2011 19:23

Bloody hell- do kids really know the word fellatio!? I have a lot to learn!

I like Horace, but LOVE the name Sid!

Sorry to hear you had a bad appointment Highlandgirl. I had an MW appointment too today. Waited 45 mins with no apology. MW tells me the baby is 'nice and low'. Who knows what that means!? Due date is tomorrow. Can't see her being punctual though!

Hope you all have a good night's rest and here's to some exciting news tomorrow!

Highlandgirl · 22/02/2011 19:28

I just had to ask DH what fellatio meant...clearly I'm so pure of heart...Smile

Highlandgirl · 22/02/2011 19:40

Thank you Strangeways for the firm shoulder grab and a stern stare..it was needed. Now just a firm chat needed with 'it' inside Grin.

Feeling much better. Also hearing horrid stories already from the NTC girls who have popped within the last 10 days, not birth related, but lack of sleep and problems feeding...gosh that not only scared the shit out of me but made me think..it's okay babba you stay for a few extra days if you like!!!

DH has just made the most amazing Thai Green Curry...with a bit of an extra kick for me! Washed down with a mars bar ice-cream.

Cocoa tomorrow is a very good day to be born on..!! Wink Wink

StrangewaysHereICome · 23/02/2011 09:07

My pleasure Highland Wink. Can I borrow your DH for his culinary skills please!! Is it your birthday today? If so have a good one, and hopefully the best present you could ask for Grin!

I hope everyone is well, nothing doing here. DH is getting knarky now - I think he is fed up with being on tenterhooks too!! 4 days til due date .....

OP posts:
cocoachannel · 23/02/2011 09:32

Happy birthday Highlandgirl! (Guessing it's today from your comment).

Well, due date has dawned. I had lots of BHs yesterday evening and very painful pressure on my cervix. Went to bed at midnight (having napped in the day), convinced that I'd have a rough night, but slept right through to the alarm. Not a twinge today, just normal movement from the baby...

What have you and the kids planned for today Strangeways?

duckmum · 23/02/2011 09:45

Hello all, Congratulations gripping, love both names so no help, although I still like horatio and have given up on the playground names as no name seems to be immune! Hope you are getting some help, split stiches are no fun.

Had lots of drama yesterday with contractions, all stations go, went in and am in early labour went home, all died off after walking myself probably into the ground Angry. Now starting again... they said it could be hours to days!!!! At least something happening albeit slowly... frustrated rant over.

HIghland totally sympathise with the waiting at clinics, yesterday ended up in a stuffy small room waiting for scan for nearly 2 hrs when contracting after a last minute panic that the baby might be breech... still head down but doing a superman impression!!
Ah realised I am still ranting... anyone have any cures!! Blush

Really hope everyone has babies soon, till then distraction sounds good. Time for Brew cake (elevenses honest!)

Highlandgirl · 23/02/2011 09:52

Yes today I'm another year older...Smile It's pissing with rain here, so that's going to delay my stomping round the park later, need to help this wee lump to engaged. Don't have any major plans, apart from cake?

Can one eat cake for breakfast on your birthday?? Grin

At this stage I have to say I'm really really feel for DH/OH's, it must be quite tough for them, esp when we can be all over the place one min and fine the next. My DH says he felt like he was walking on egg shells earlier this week..as I was crying at everything.

Strangeways I'll have to charge you for DH culinary skills??..he's quite useful chap really Smile However not so good at cleaning up and he does like to use a LOT of pots..!! Saying that he washed up yesterday (shock horror)

cocoa fingers crossed that BH's turn into the real thing..i have to say the pressure on the cervix is just horrid. Come of baby cocoa?? How are you feeling about the name Claudia now? x

Highlandgirl · 23/02/2011 09:58

duckmum OMG contractions and then no baby...Confused Angry Sad how annoying. Frustrated won't be word I'd be using...!!! Lets hope things get started fully today. xx

duckmum · 23/02/2011 10:14

Things appear to be kicking off again but after yesterday I am really not holding my breath, it appears baby is not listening to uterus!!!!

highland Happy Birthday and cake for breakfast is a good idea Grin

cocoachannel · 23/02/2011 10:29

duckmum - you poor thing. Hope today's are the real thing!

Highlandgirl - at this stage on pregnancy you can eat as much cake as you damn well please, birthday or not. Enjoy!

DH vetoed Claudia. This is the trouble with waiting, time to wobble with names and to shop for last minute stuff you don't need at all.

I think I'm going to take myself off to the cinema today (Black Swan). DH is working from home so I may be able to persuade him to play hookey.

Paula30CWR · 23/02/2011 10:50

duckmum - good luck!!! Tomorrow is my due date but I don't think nothing will happen. I haven't felt anythign AT ALL.

cocoachannel - Black Swan is excellent. Very good and quite dirty sometimes but very very good! Enjoy it!

Tell me about waiting, I had a facial treatment yesterday to pamper myself (it was a gift voucher I got for Xmas) and then I ended up buying those products worth £150 - I didn't feel like pampering myself for the rest of the day Confused - But then I thought: Oh well, I work so hard and I haven't been able to buy nice clothes for nine months, so i will do it. And I think today I will go out to shop around as well...hahahah

Good luck ladies!

BUnderTheBonnet · 23/02/2011 12:17

Hi everyone. Still here. Nothing new - slightly period achy BHs and fanny pain. and stabby things in what I can only imagine is my cervix.

My MW texted me the land line of where she would be last night because she had no mobile reception. At least someone has faith I might go into labour soon. Perhaps if I send mw abroad for a few days something mught happen?

Paula I see your car hoovering and raise you a 3 hour walk followed by hands and knees floor scrubbing.

Paula30CWR · 23/02/2011 13:11

BUnderTheBonnet How many days overdue are you?
Hopefully he/she will come soon.

Have you had a sweep? My MW is meeting me on Friday to do one of those nice things if my baby hasn't come tomorrow which, of course, he won't!

Try to relax. I feel like a whale as well but it'll all end soon! However, for the end to come we need to go through the awful pain!!! Oh dear!

All the best!

StrangewaysHereICome · 23/02/2011 18:09

Snap Bunder, I am soooo the same. The fanny pains are new and my poor cervix is feeling bombarded. We must pop soon surely!!

Exciting new duckmum I hope you really get going this time ... I look forward to the new Grin.

Not heard anything from Slow yet - hope she's okay.

cocoa we have had a quiet day today - I think I overdid it yesterday. I was meant to go out this morning but was sooooo tired I had a relaxing bath instead (well as relaxing as it could be with two children watching and bouncing rubber ducks on my tummy Hmm) We went for a walk this afternoon, and that is the most uncomfortable I have been so far. I could only manage and slow waddle, with really deep down pressure between my legs while huffing and puffing. I took the girls to the shop for some sweets and the woman behind the counter as giving me very strange looks! After that a DVD did the trick while I dozed on the sofa. Still mighty uncomfortable with cramps coming and going - BUT I am not assuming in any way that this baby is thinking about coming Hmm!

Hope you had a good day today highland The cake is being consumed here Grin. This must be the fourth cake I have got for the midwives which I have eaten Wink!

Have a good evening all x
