Just need to share as I am driving myself nuts!! I am 37 weeks today and woke up at 2.30am which a very sharp pain to the side of my bump which I had to breathe through. It coincided with a BH contraction. I lay there thinking oh goodness I am not ready for this!! Then I started timing things as I couldn't get back to sleep because the tightenings and period type pains were coming every 5 mins and lasting 30 secs. Not painful as such, but uncomfortable.

After an hour I needed the loo and lets say I cleared my bowels out Blush. I was awake for a further 2 hours before finally dropping off. I woke up at 7 still with the tightenings, just the same as before, which are still going now. I haven't had a show but have, er, done more bowel clearing.

Any ideas? This is my third so I should know really, but both my previous labours started with my waters breaking and then nothing for 12 hours before labour started in earnest.

I need to go to Tesco - dare I venture out?? DH doesn't believe things might be starting and we have a decorator coming tomorrow. I am planning a homebirth and all DH can say is wait until after the room has been painted Confused!!

Sorry this is so long, I am feeling a bit edgy!

Hiya,

I couldn't keep up with the antenatal board while I was working ,and then I got too embarassed to go back! Blush

I'm seeing my midwife on Friday - baby was't engaged last week, but I've been getting new pelvic pain yesterday and today (hooray, another symptom!) so if it isn't now I'll be really cross.

I never got this pelvis stuff with my DD who engaged really early, but she was breech, so this is a whole new game...

I think I would cry if my MW cancelled me.

My DH is currently giving the birth pool very dark looks. It's been up for a week already. Shock I'm bound to go two weeks over, aren't I!!!!!!!

StrangewaysHereICome · 16/02/2011 19:42

Aw don't worry about the AN board, I have found it hard to keep up with at times, but I keep sticking my oar in every now and again!

I hope your mw appt goes well, it sounds like your baby might be heading down that way if you are getting pelvic pain. I did nearly cry when the mw cancelled me - she said they were too busy and as I am low risk they think I'm ok!! I really hope they are not too busy when I eventually go into labour - eeek!

Don't take the pool down, as you know what will happen!! I am sure it is a nice feature Wink. Please don't mention going two weeks over, I think I will have exploded by then Shock.

Feeling really tired today and a bit sicky - I need some kip before I can even contemplate having a baby!!

Not heard from Grippingon for a while, I wonder ......

BUnderTheBonnet · 16/02/2011 20:04

I definitely think that feeling tired must be a symtpom - your body is telling you to rest before labour begins. Grin

I have to say, the birth pool has been lovely for relaxing in for a few evenings. Tempted to take the damn thing down to provoke Sod's Law.

Hello ladies !

Went for my section today - rang up at 9:00 and was told no bed, but to ring back at 10:30. Rang back at 10:30 and got a bed at 12:00. Arrived at 12:00, I was number 2 on the list. Number 1 was still there and had been since 8:00 am. Number 1 was called at 2.30 and I was told I was next, then at 4:00 pm my section was cancelled !!! I am no. 1 tomorrow though and have to go back in again at 8:00!

To the tune of the littlest hobo :-

Maybe tomorrow I'll get this baby out
Maybe tomorrow I'll hear him scream and shout
Until tomorrow I'll just keep being rotund
Until tomorrow I'll just keep gripping on

Good luck ladies, I'm still BH'ing and leaking, may all your troubles be little ones
xxxx

StrangewaysHereICome · 18/02/2011 09:44

Grin gripping I loved the littlest Hobo, always made me cry!!

What a palaver, you must be sooooooo frustrated being messed about. I hope it all goes well today, been thinking about you. Not long til you have your little one in your arms, I can't wait to hear the news Grin.

As for me I am starting to doubt I am pg at all Wink. Might just join weightwatchers instead! I thought things were starting last night, more pains and BH's - and now nothing. The waiting goes on ......

Hello ladies, please can I join you as I am also driving myself mad!!

Incidentally hello blue and strangeways from March - nice to see you. Blue you shouldn't worry about coming back - the rest of us clearly just have nothing better to do and the more the merrier.

Anyway I probably have no right to join you at 35+4, but here goes...

Started getting period like cramps in addition to BH last Thursday, had a show/lost mucous plug Friday night and still had cramps. Bit concerned as this didn't happen with DS1 (was induced at 38W with him for mild-pre-eclampsia). So called the hospital and they said come in. Was up all night being monitored/examined (incl 3 VE to establish if cervix closed or not - seemed to be closed). At 7am they decided to admit me for steroid doses (x4) and monitoring. Cramps continued, but no more show after about 10am Sat. Escaped hospital Monday pm, but still have low cramps (period like) which 'radiate' to my back. They come and go, but no real rhythm. Also have bad BH - like tightening across whole bump - at least 2 or 3 per hour - worse if I walk anywhere. Also have shooting pains down below (IYSWIM) and like others every evening (sorry TMI) my bowels clear themselves out completely as well as a feeling of general unease.

So are things happening - bit of concern that it is a bit early (though scan Monday showed baby to be enormous already), but at the same time want to know if this is it so can prepare mentally.

I'm just not sure if I can cope with this for weeks and weeks and weeks as v uncomfortable (sorry to moan).

Saw MW yesterday and she said she thought I might be in very slow labour which could either pick up quite suddenly or go on for weeks. She did say I could demand a sweep at 38W if I wanted.

Just wanted to vent really.

Gripping - that is shocking - hope it goes well today though and things start to happen for the other 2.

Jx

BUnderTheBonnet · 18/02/2011 10:48

Ooh Gripping - I wouldn't know whether to be totally excited or furious. Good luck!!!!!

Jupiter I am also getting the "general feeling of unease" thing.

Last night I was definitely going into labour - more pronounced BHs than ever. Why don't I have a baby this morning??? I just saw my midwife, and the baby is very low, so that's good. And I've had a very weepy morning so far (which hasn't happened before) so I will surely give birth over the next 24 hours. It is also half-term tomorrow, which means my DH will be home and I have child care sorted for my DD. Bring it on!!!!

slowangels1 · 18/02/2011 12:56

am I allowed to join given I'm 39+4? I'm booked in for an induction on monday as baby is measuring very very big (estimated 8lbs 13 at 36 weeks Shock ) and up until yesterday I was convinced I'd have nothing to show before induction, however, have been driving myself mad this past day or so convinced I'm on the verge of labour.

Had lots of what you all describe - feeling really hungry/feeling like I can't eat anything, sudden exhaustion, bowel clear out, feeling out of sorts, had some kind of mucasy thing last night (think it might have been my plug), BHs increasing in obviousness and regularity, period pains etc etc. Have now convinced myself I will go into full flung labour any second [first timer emoticon] and couldn't sleep last night at all as I kept checking to see if anything felt like it was progressing.

I've only got a couple of days to sort this out for myself before they force induction upon me and am hoping baby will hurry up.

Off soon for a walk in the hope...

BUnderTheBonnet · 18/02/2011 14:10

We are actually being driven insane by hormones aren't we??? We have hormone poisoning of the brain Confused

duckmum · 18/02/2011 16:36

Could I join in too, 36+6 and sorry Jupiter probably does not help but I have been niggling away since 33 weeks being told most weeks this could be it only for "it" to settle down(had labour stopped at 29 weeks steroids etc).

Had a show on Tuesday, painful and annoying BH and crampy pain all day yesterday, felt generally odd unsettled and weirdly hungry, then all stopped. Restarted again after hearing newborns cry, frustrated and wish body would decide one way or the other what it is doing!!

Nearly 37 weeks hurray which no one thought I would get to and I know I should be grateful but the uncertainty is starting to get to me!!

Definitely hormone poisoning of the brain!!

Good luck everyone

BUnderTheBonnet · 18/02/2011 21:57

I read my mw notes properly - head is fully engaged. Hurrah! (Disclaimer: I know this is meaningless - however, apparently so are all the other sure signs and symptoms I've had).

Anyway, it's bloody uncomfortable. My BHs are making my stomach twist into really weird shapes this evening.

BUnderTheBonnet · 18/02/2011 21:59

Just copped on that it's a full moon tonight!!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! Babies must be born!!!!!!!!

StrangewaysHereICome · 19/02/2011 08:55

Tee hee, BUnder someone else mentioned the full moon to me, apparently waters are more likely to break ... but not for me!

Another uncomfortable night, more crampy pains, BH's and headbutts from baby. I feel completely rubbish today. I felt sick too in the night and had a good clearout of the old bowels at 3am Blush (most unlike me to poo in the night Blush Blush!) More crampiness and grumpiness this morning too - could this be the start of something???

The mw is coming this morning, so we'll see what she says.

Jupiter how are you - all this stop starting is so frustrating adn the idea of it going on for weeks is too scary!! I hope things settle for you soon.

Good luck slowangels I hope things get going before Monday for you - fingers, but not legs, crossed Grin.

wow duckmum you have done well to get this far Smile I wonder when your little one will arrive ...

I hope you all either had a comfortable night or a baby Wink!

OP posts:
duckmum · 19/02/2011 16:21

More painful crampy BH (sounding familiar) but now getting stronger and painful. Was dreaming I was having BH only to wake up and have lots of painful BH...hmmmm felt very surreal.

Still not convinced, I have a feeling this will all settle again!
Hope you are ok Jupiter and things are settling.

Heres to some babies Smile

StrangewaysHereICome · 19/02/2011 17:00

Oooh that sounds promising Duckmum, I wonder what tonight will bring Wink.

The mw came today, everything is fine except bubs is less engaged than last week Hmm. No wonder I am being kept guessing little tinker!!

I think I am destined to another week of niggles!!

OP posts:
cocoachannel · 19/02/2011 17:45

Hi ladies

Just been reading your posts and empathising! I'm 39+3 and was so convinced that DD would arrive early particularly after being given steroids after a bleed at 31 weeks (I know it doesn't work like that, but I'm impatient..!).

The niggles and twinges are driving me to distraction!

slowangels1 · 20/02/2011 09:19

morning ladies....I'm still here. Induction booked tomorrow evening and have been having BHs on of off (esp in evenings) but nothing more. Have had horrible headache past couple of days and keep trying to convince myself it's the hormones changing ready for labour (but like when I get headaches pre period) but think I'm clutching at straws really. Come on baby - last chance to get yourself out.....

StrangewaysHereICome · 20/02/2011 09:42

Aw slow it's not much fun is it? I have had headaches too, swinging from feeling nauseous to really hungry, quite restless, BH's, cramps and nothing ...

I feel for you I really do, there is still time before your induction. What about a long walk or going up and down the stairs sideways? Whatever happens I wish you all the best and can't wait to hear your news.

Try to rest too if you can Brew Smile.

Oh my goodness..i can't tell you how happy I am to find this thread...I'm due on Thursday..please may I join???

Everything you have mentioened i'm going through...now don't feel quite so alone or mad (I'm sure DH thinks I'm making it up..Grin)

I've been having horrid pains too, not sleeping and generally being a grump cow. This is my first baby, so naturally when I wake up in pain i worry that things might be about to start. Clearly bloody not..nothing!

I tell you it's a battle of wills here.

duckmum · 20/02/2011 13:07

All settled to restart all over again. Trying to ignore niggles but when I walk around pelvis feels like it is about to split in two!!!!

Good luck slow I really hope things get going and all goes well!

I second have some rest Brew Smile

StrangewaysHereICome · 20/02/2011 19:34

Hello cocoachannel and highlandgirl welcome to the madness!! We are all slaves to our hormones and twinges aren't we Confused Grin.

highland I remember how much worse it is expecting your first as your nerves can be out of control!! This is my third and tbh I should know better!! But the nervous excitement is still the same and driving me bonkers.

Oooh duck not more frustration - I am sure things will happen for you soon.

BUnder how are you? Any news?

Thinking of you slow hope things are happening!

Nothing here surprise surprise! I can't believe it's 2 weeks since I started this thread convinced the baby was ready Shock Blush!

OP posts:
Highlandgirl · 20/02/2011 19:43

This is what happened to me today..this morning I woke up at 4.30 with the most horrid lower tummy pain..which was period pain like and lasted about 30 odd sec and then stopped. It was sore as it woke me up, but nothing to bad. So I went back to sleep..after worry and waiting till well after 5am.

Then at 7.18 I woke up screaming in pain Shock..it was like nothing I've even felt before, right across my whole lower body and I felt very sick. It was really quite heinous pain really deep. The main pain pasted after about 30 / 40 secs however my back still ached for a good 2 mins afterwards. And then relief, thank god as it was extremely unpleasant!

I'm feeling fine..and had nothing since! confused

Now I'm sure I might be grabbing at straws, but is this things getting started, what the heck is happening! Get out of my belly!!!

Grin

Any more bouts of pain Highlandgirl?

Feeling distinctly 'weird' tonight. Just another imaginary sign I should think!
