Hi I am 39+6 today, and this morning had mild contractions (or BH??) for an hour or so , 10 minutes apart, then nothing. I have just spotted some blood in my knickers, only the size of a 50p piece, no mucous or anything, just a spot of blood (gross, sorry!) Is this normal? I am a vbac, so no idea what to expect!

Thanks in advance Smile

I think the bleeding is normal after any internal exam - but it's startling when blood's the last thing you want to see in your pants when you're pregnant.

The runs sounds promising, too.

Well - since about 7ish, I've have period type pains and lots of not quite painful Braxton Hicks which have been a bit tiring. I had a bath and they're still there. Not bad enough for a paracetamol yet and Ive had worse period pains, but I'm suspecting things are on the move.

If it follows the pattern, I'm in for an all-nighter.

Or it could all be nothing...

mumatron · 30/12/2010 23:12

looks like we could both be in for a long night.

pains seemed to go after having a bath but have started again. not as close together now. quite alot of pressure down below.

i feel soooo tired today. after wishing she would hurry up and come i do not feel ready atall.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 30/12/2010 23:30

Me neither - I've got to go and clear a space in the bedroom for the plastic sheet and change the bedding.

I hope this is it for you. Good luck x

mumatron · 30/12/2010 23:35

i think if i couldd get to sleep it would all stop, just can't settle.

might help if i actually turned the laptop off mind.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 31/12/2010 00:30

Yep - laptop off, and I'll put my mobile down - & hopefully we'll get some rest, if not proper sleep. Take care.

bigkidsmademe · 31/12/2010 00:43

good luck you two

I just can't sleep. Ever. How am I going to give birth on no sleep???

I have no pains or anything though except an extremely kicky baby

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 31/12/2010 07:46

Hmph - it all stopped. Had 3 contractions in the night and now nothing. Typical. Hope you're doing better mumatron.

mumatron · 31/12/2010 10:06

nope :(

again i was up until about 3.30-4am painful contractions but no pattern. between 5 min and 12 min apart. then managed to sleep until 10am!

still feeling crampy and a bit out of sorts.

going to try going food shopping shortly. see if that helps.

bigkidsmademe · 31/12/2010 10:47

I just had a show! I'm so excited now. I know it could still be days but I feel like things are finally happening

i'm going to take dd1 to spend her xmas money, a day in toys r us should be enough to start wnyone off.

bigkidsmademe · 31/12/2010 12:54

nooooooo!

I cannot be pregnant much longer. I just can't do it!

Off for my sweep now, good luck in the hell hole that is Toys R Us

mumatron · 01/01/2011 11:20

Bigkid, anymore signs?

Nothing much to report here, still losing my plug (how much more can be in there?) And having infrequent pains.

Hav ow reigned myself to having induction ext week. At least the end is in sight!

bigkidsmademe · 01/01/2011 13:16

no. I am SO pissed off now. I keep getting indigestion type pains and being excited until I remember eating a whole family sticky toffee pudding. At my sweep the mw did say I was 1cm dilated though so that's something.

Induction in 6 days so not much longer to endure. When is yours?

mumatron · 01/01/2011 16:16

Thurs 6th, as long as there is a bed avail.

Have been shopping again, dont think all the walking is doing much but it,s definately having an effect on my bank balance.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 01/01/2011 23:11

Right then, went to MW yesterday and she offered me a sweep, but seeing as I wasn't overdue yesterday, I declined her very kind offer!!

She suggested nipple stimulation. I was a bit sceptical but have given it a go today (she said if you're gettig pains, it can keep them going) - and I've got mild period pains again and I've just had a show.

Could be a coincidence, but maybe it's worth a go? Got to be better than induction, don't you reckon?

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 01/01/2011 23:12

Of course, she didn't mention the RSI and cramp you get in your thumbs, but it's a small price to pay Grin.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 02/01/2011 07:12

Well, the nipple thing seems to have paid off - have had a show and having regular, though not unbearable, contractions - about 10 minutes apart and lasting 30-40 seconds since 5.20. MW on her way.

mumatron · 02/01/2011 07:15

how exciting!

had a very unsettled night, been woken up a few times by quite bad pains so fingers crossed for both or us.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 02/01/2011 07:52

That does sound promising Mumatron, good luck. Don't forget to do thumb warm ups!!

bigkidsmademe · 02/01/2011 08:14

ooh! I'm going to do the nipple thing then. Still nothing Sad

mumatron · 02/01/2011 09:14

cant do nip stim, it's too sore and makes them leak.

i feel like shit today. hope thats a good sign.

WriterofDreams · 02/01/2011 09:42

Oh girls I really feel for you! You must be so pissed off at this stage! The nipple stimulation thing made me laugh because when I was pushing my little boy out my contractions suddenly stopped just before I delivered his body. All I remember from my gas-fogged haze is the midwife whipping off my bra and commanding and very confused DH to wiggle my nipples! Poor boy obliged and I did the trick right away :) Think he was bit shellshocked though lol.

Hang in there, you know it'll be worth it! I am so in love with my boy, he's the best, snoozing away as I type. Breastfeeding is going according to plan but the midwife is coming around today so I might get something sorted.

Good luck and I'll be watching progress with interest!

WriterofDreams · 02/01/2011 09:43

God you can tell I'm sleep deprived.

It should read it did the trick and breastfeeding isn't going according to plan. Sigh.

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 02/01/2011 13:11

It worked! Snuggling in bed with a baby boy born at 10:55 this morning, 8lbs 2oz. Hasn't got a name still, though the girls are calling him 'Toto' Hmm. Maybe they would have preferred a dog? X
