Hi I am 39+6 today, and this morning had mild contractions (or BH??) for an hour or so , 10 minutes apart, then nothing. I have just spotted some blood in my knickers, only the size of a 50p piece, no mucous or anything, just a spot of blood (gross, sorry!) Is this normal? I am a vbac, so no idea what to expect!

Thanks in advance Smile

Still here Mumatron. Now 40+1 and booorrreed! Not even had many twinges or BH's Confused. How are you getting on?

Queen interesting you should say that about being ill - i've had a horrible cold for the last 10 days. Didn't realise it could stop labour!?

I've just booked home visit with the midwife next week for a sweep - was hoping I wouldn't need to as last pregnancy only went a day over so getting very impatient now.

DH taking DS to in laws soon for a hour so peace and quiet here. Then DS going to my mom's for the night - am hoping that the baby will see this as an ideal opportunity to put in an appearence!

CJMommy · 23/12/2010 16:30

Congratulations Goodlife - really happy for you and what a lovely day for him to arrive! Hope you're snuggled up nicely with William x

mumatron · 23/12/2010 16:42

congrats goodlife lovely name.

cj no real pains here either. the odd strong contraction every so often but thats about it!

lots of period pain in my back though and iirc i had that for a few days before ds was born.

i can't even ask for a sweep until the 30th when i will be 41+1. no doubt i will have to wait a week for an appt. although i have a consultant appt on the 30th so i'm hoping to get a date for induction then. just seems so far away Xmas Sad

i suppose having xmas and dp's birthday in between will make it go a bit quicker.

WriterofDreams · 23/12/2010 17:22

Congratulations goodlife! What a lovely present for Christmas :)

Not a sausage (or a baby) here either. Feel like my hips have spread about 3 miles apart and it kills to walk. No more BHs today, but some back pain, same as you again mumatron! My next appointment is on the 31st, I'll be getting a sweep then. It would be so funny if we both went into labour at the same time mumatron!

mumatron · 23/12/2010 17:37

i'm expecting that we will now wod Xmas Grin

i am waddling now rather than walking. not an attractive sight.

faye0310 · 23/12/2010 20:21

hi can i join in.
My little girl is due today, the midwife didnt think i was going to make it this far yet here i am! lost my plug (tmi) nearly 3 weeks ago and had pre labour symptoms since then but still nothing.
Got a sweep booked form the 29th (hope i dont need it tho). Every day ive had strong BH but absolutly nothing today of all days! im so ready for her to be here as im so uncomfortable and cant sleep well, its nice to read about people in the same situation as me (sorry i know u all probably dont want to be in the situation!).

mumatron · 23/12/2010 20:25

hi faye

hope you aren't with us too long Xmas Grin is this your first?

faye0310 · 23/12/2010 21:00

hi yeh it is. i hope im not too (no offense!) you had no signs today?

WriterofDreams · 24/12/2010 17:31

How's it going everyone? I have no signs at the moment, but the phonecalls, texts and FB messages are already coming thick and fast! Oh well, it's nice to be important :) Gonna relax, stuff my face and watch loads of telly.

mumatron · 25/12/2010 15:43

Hi all. Hope you are having a good xmas.

Still no sign of this baby coming soon, but at least the worst of the xmas madness is over.

I wonder if there will be any xmas day babies? :)

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 08:26

Not for me anyway mumatron! Still nothing happening here :( Sort of glad Christmas Day is over though, even though I do like it. It was kind of a pressure too. Any inklings for you today?

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 26/12/2010 08:28

4 days left until due date for me.

Am just relaxing and deciding whther or not to take all the xmas stuff down already rather than wait till the 6th jan.

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 10:41

I was thinking exactly the same thing FairyTale. I looked at the tree today and felt like taking it down, but then felt a bit too much of grump lol. In a way Christmas felt like a bit of a barrier to finally getting on with having the baby, I suppose partly because it was my due date. I sort of feel relieved that it's over and just want to clear it all away and fill the house with baby! It's partly a nesting thing I think. I'll leave it all up another couple of days I think.

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 26/12/2010 11:46

yes, dh has said to take it all down tomorrow. I just want to get my living room back and get the carrycot set up where the tree is iyswim.

i think the snow and ice is creating a 'barrier' between me and this baby. as its really slippy in our street. just thick ice, which means getting out is an issue.

i havent got this close to a due date since dd1. and this is dc5 lol.

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 11:59

Goodness, so you're well used to this business then, although having to wait must be driving you nuts! I'm a day over now and I'm already bonkers (not that I was that sane to begin with). When did your others arrive?

FairyTaleOfNewYork · 26/12/2010 12:19

middle three arrived betwee 38-39 weeks.

But i dont have LMP to go on this time, just a scan date, which is often out. So am not going to stress if i am still pregnant in 2011. Bubs is moving well, so is obviously comfty where he is

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 12:21

Yeah scan dates seem to be a load of balls, although I can't go by my LMP either as my cycles were all over the place, so according to that I was due two weeks ago! My little fella is moving around fine too but I am super uncomfortable as he doesn't care whether there's space or not, he just puts his feet wherever he feels like it! Are your other DCs really excited about the new addition?

CJMommy · 26/12/2010 16:18

Hi all

Just to let you know Caitlin arrived on friday afternoon (8lbs). We came home yesterday.

Labour was very quick really - started having period-type pains at 1am on 24th and managed to sleep through them until 8.30am when i knew it was for real. TENS on; MLU at 11am; 5cms at 1130; fully dilated at 1.30pm and she was born at 2.25pm. So 6 hours in active labour. a dream compared to my DS' delivery last time (Consultant Unit, Meconium, ventouse, retained placenta, spinal, theatre etc....) and the Midwife was fab!!!

Only had gas and air (Tens was good to a point and worked well as a distraction).

She's feeding beautifully and DS and DH are completely smitten with her, as am I Grin Xmas Grin

Merry Christmas xx

mumatron · 26/12/2010 16:29

Well done cj! Congrats to you all.

No sign here. Have resigned myself to having a 2011 baby.

I was VERY tempted to take the tree down today. I think its a bit of nesting. Feeling the urge to have a spring clean! Too tired to do it today but will be making a start tomorrow ithink. After I have set up all the toys dc had.

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 16:48

Fantastic news CJ! Congratulations Grin Delighted that you had such a great labour.

I'm getting quite strong BHs today but I'm ignoring them as they're not painful. I'm resigned to a 2011 baby too mumatron :(

mumatron · 26/12/2010 17:58

well i hope they get painful for you wod

i thought my waters had gone a few minutes ago. sat down i felt a little 'pop' paniced and jumped up but nothing much came out, just a bit of mucus. (tmi, sorry) disappointed now :(

going to have a bath and try and catch up with all the soaps

WriterofDreams · 26/12/2010 18:04

Ugh I'm supposed to be going out for dinner to a friend's house in a little while. He's a lovely person but he accosts the belly every time he sees me, which drives me mad. Plus, and I know it sounds silly, but I feel very self conscious about how huge I am now :( Oh and to top it all off, I got to 40 weeks without one single stretch mark and then BAM! - 40+1 and my stomach is like a roadmap! How did that happen??? Confused

mumatron · 26/12/2010 18:31

i hear you wod! i am spending boxing day alone :( i can't face answering the same questions over and over again. i mean, how can someone seriously ask me if i have had the baby yet, when it;s quite obvious i have not!! and when mil has a drink she keep trying to rub my belly and speaking to it in a stupid voice. makes me want to punch her

i should add this is her 1st dgc. my other dc are from a previous relationship.

i know she means well but god it's annoying.

i saw your thread on your mil.just think we will be someones mil one day!! theres a cheery thought Grin

thereisalightanditnevergoesout · 27/12/2010 01:01

Mind if I join? Due 31 December - but getting twitchy now - keep being woken up with the odd, single contraction, lasting quite a while - waiting for another, then nothing.

I think we should be allowed to punch irritating relatives, btw. It's only fair, putting up with the nonsense we have to.

The calls haven't started yet (and they might not - as people might've finally learned not to bother ringing - we're on DC4).

mumatron · 27/12/2010 10:44

thereisalight welcome.

really thought things were happening last night. soo uncomfortable, lots of regular, if not too painful contractions. evry 4 minutes until 3.30am. then fell asleep and have only just woken up!

40+3 today, never been this late before :(

another 2 emails asking if i have had her yet, and my mum keeps ringing me to say that i must be in labour because she is having sympathy pains Hmm
