Hi I am 39+6 today, and this morning had mild contractions (or BH??) for an hour or so , 10 minutes apart, then nothing. I have just spotted some blood in my knickers, only the size of a 50p piece, no mucous or anything, just a spot of blood (gross, sorry!) Is this normal? I am a vbac, so no idea what to expect!

Thanks in advance Smile

Kt I'm right there with you - all the same things have been happening to me for about a week and a half - I'm 38+3 now. I just hope it doesn't drag on for another 3 weeks.

I'm dying to know how mumatron has got on - I think she was due to be induced yesterday. I hope all is well with her.

Anyone else on labour watch?

I've been getting braxon hicks for a while now. But they feel like period pains which are really painful now. Got a lot of pressure on my pelvis. I can hardly walk atm. I think I had some kind of show on monday there was no blood though? I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, hoping I don't go over as I want this baby out now!

hi

well I went in - turned out it wasn't water, don't know what it was really. Not an infection - but by the time I got in it had stopped. I had a trace and they were worried about the baby's heartbeat so I was on it all day. Turns out he was fine but had his thumb in his mouth Confused don't know why that makes his heart race!

So at the end of the day I was at home, embarrassed after turning up to the day assessment unit for the fourth time in two weeks - and i am usually so sensible Blush and just so fed up. I was so crestfallen last night!

But now I've slept 16 hours in a row! First good sleep for weeks and weeks. I feel like a new woman. I'm resigned to the fact that he's not coming out - 3 days to induction.

How are you all this morning?

Thanks, johnny - just enduring afterpains now :( - yuk

Still, you're booked in for induction this week, aren't you, mumatron? Nothing got my labour kicked off with DD2 than the threat of induction - so there is still time.

Aw mumatron, I really feel for you. I hope things get moving soon. I'm not due for two weeks, had a few of the early signs like losing mucous plug but not holding my breath for any real progress for ages yet. Again, hope you get going soon.

bigkid - good luck with things and keep us posted

And big congrats thereis

better to be safe than sorry.

no news from me. all quiet on the baby front :(

bigkidsmademe · 03/01/2011 10:47

well it is like you say, only thing is it is tiny amounts. I'm going to ring in a moment because i'm GBS pos so I think they'll want me in. Guess that means induction though

how are you doing?

Report
mumatron · 03/01/2011 10:31

big put a pad on, lie down for half an hour, try coughing. when you get up see if you feel it again. and as thereisalight says try smelling it.

with ds my waters were broken at the end of labour and with dd1 they went with a big gush so i have no experience of 'leaking'

still here, totally fed up.

thereis any luck picking a name yet?

I read recently, if it leaks while you're lying down, but not when you're standing up, it's likely to be amniotic fluid. Also, put a pad on, see how wet it gets and (sorry) sniff it - it won't smell the same as urine.

Good luck!

oh you poor thing

I can't decide if my waters are breaking. A very slow dribble but something there. not sure what to do now!

Oh, that's rough, mumatron. You must be exhausted.

Maybe just try and get some rest - tomorrow's a new day - you might (hopefully)need your energy.

It was fine - he's smaller than I anticipated. I called my MW a bit earlier than I needed to, it turns out - but she lives an hour away (she's a relative) and on previous years I've been pacing well by the time she got to us.

But it was a lot calmer than previous births - much more controlled - quite intense for a very short time at the end, then he was here.

It was nice - as baby arrived at a sensible time of day - so we had SIL looking after the other 3 DCs so DH could be with me for the entire thing.

Then I got into the bath, then my own bed and had a snuggle. Lovely.

Yes - how's it going, mumatron?

Congratulations WOD on the birth of your little boy! I've just managed to catch up with this thread after Caitlin's arrival on christmas eve!

Geting no real sleep as she feeds around 2 hourly overnight, but loving every minute! DS adores her and hasn't once asked to send her back yet!!

mumatron thinking of you and hoping your little one puts in an appearence soon.

It worked! Snuggling in bed with a baby boy born at 10:55 this morning, 8lbs 2oz. Hasn't got a name still, though the girls are calling him 'Toto' Hmm. Maybe they would have preferred a dog? X

God you can tell I'm sleep deprived.

It should read it did the trick and breastfeeding isn't going according to plan. Sigh.

Oh girls I really feel for you! You must be so pissed off at this stage! The nipple stimulation thing made me laugh because when I was pushing my little boy out my contractions suddenly stopped just before I delivered his body. All I remember from my gas-fogged haze is the midwife whipping off my bra and commanding and very confused DH to wiggle my nipples! Poor boy obliged and I did the trick right away :) Think he was bit shellshocked though lol.

Hang in there, you know it'll be worth it! I am so in love with my boy, he's the best, snoozing away as I type. Breastfeeding is going according to plan but the midwife is coming around today so I might get something sorted.

Good luck and I'll be watching progress with interest!
