What am I?

This little chicky has hatched and is now an honorary silkie as its hatchmates are all silkie bantams.

Head side on
Head dot
Back of chick
Side view
Wing tips
wing again
wing again

Any ideas?

I've had white chicks with several black dots and they were Lt Sx. I've also had yellow chicks with dots that went buff coloured and were Sussex crosses.

I currently have a pure white chick, which is 4 weeks old and feathered, but it can only be from a Lt Sussex or an Amber Star, so will be interesting to see if it gets any coloured feathers as it gets older.

Its either a light sussex or a light sussex x rir but I thought they were brown?

When the feathers come through over the fluff they'll be brown or buff if it's the RIR cross or black & white if it's the Sussex. Half-feathered up chicks are not very attractive, DS1 says they look like pteradactyls!

so how old is it? is it bigger than the banties? Did you think it might be a light sussex? But what about the dot?

I have no idea but it is very very lovely and cute.

It hatched on Wednesday and its not a huge amount bigger then the silkies, but big enough to be noticible. The Dot is odd but I am going to ignore it and pray for light sussex :D

First chickens yea. It was easier for me to hatch the breeds I wanted rather then try to find adults here.

nutterly, what did you use to hatch them? im desperate to hatch some eggs, but got no clue about incubators and dont want to fork out for an expensive mistake...
