Installing a rear facing seat which braces against passenger seat in a Volvo with WHIPS

Has anyone got any experience of installing a rear facing car seat that braces against the front passenger seat in a Volvo with WHIPS?? More specifically - is it safe??

Cannot get Volvo to give any assurance whatsoever and waiting for an official statement from Britax (we have two way elite) but in the meantime DS is forward facing and I'm not at all happy :(

http://www.carseat.se/contact-us/you could try asking here they have been very helpful with enquiries from us in the past, and are in Sweden, so know lots about rear facing.

Yes I am fairly certain our Volvo has WHIPS, and we have a britax 2 way elite and a besafe izi combi in it.

whiplash protection system

Is it not a whiplash protection system where the seat falls back in a collision so you're not flung forward? I don't think it falls right back, but wouldn't know exactly.
