My dad has just had a colonoscopy and it looks like he has bowel cancer

He has had symptoms for a while (mucus and rectal bleeding) but has put off getting checked out until recently. His FIT test was very high so he was fact tracked for a colonoscopy which he had today. Just phoned my mum and it looks like they have found a large growth which looks to be cancer. My dad is 83 and I adore him so I am so upset. 😢

When my dad was 85, he had a successful operation for bowel cancer. His father had had it too - does it run in your dad's family? Anyway, my dad died last year aged 91 of something else. The bowel cancer didn't come back.

It doesn’t run in the family - my dad is the first to have bowel cancer.

My dh is waiting to see the oncologist about chemo.

Hope your DH’s recovery is going ok & things go as planned for chemo.

My dad is recovering slowly. He is in a lot less discomfort but hasn’t got his appetite back so has lost a few pounds.
They are going to do a CT and and MRI in a few weeks and then he will have a telephone appointment with his surgeon. Just hoping the operation was a success. 🤞

I hope your DH is recovering well from
his surgery and that he copes ok with the chemo. 💐
