Hand hold after a surprise result please

I was sent to hospital on Friday with a suspected inflamed pancreas probably due to Mounjaro. They wanted to rule out gall stones so had an ultrasound sound, then a CT scan and the discovery of a lesion on my liver that seems to be as a result of either gallbladder or pancreatic cancer. I’m on the two week pathway and so sorry for my family. Other than back pain - diagnosed as muscular- over the past month I have had no symptoms.
positive thoughts please while I wait for the next step

So sorry to read this. Sending positive thoughts your way. My advice is hard: don’t waste your energy worrying about unknowns (if you are, you might be more sensible than me ;)). Wait until you have the full picture x

Ginnyaletranger78 · 30/03/2025 22:13

Sending you positive thoughts. X

Goingncforthisone · 30/03/2025 22:20

As previous poster said, you don't know what it is yet. It's so very hard though. I don't know your medical details but I had a lesion found on my liver that is totally benign. Take care x

NautilusLionfish · 30/03/2025 22:29

Sorry that you are going through this. The anxiety must be unbearable. But try not to worry as it may be nothing. Wr hope and pray that it's benign. And if it's proven cancer then we hope it's treatable and there will be so many of us extending a virtual handhold. Try and do things that will keep busy and keep your mind from wondering to worst case scenarios. And stay away from Google

Okitsme · 31/03/2025 00:36

Thank you all, it’s hard to be positive at this time in the morning!

I’ve recently had a lesion on my adrenal gland , a nodule in my lung and a 12cm solid cyst on ovary all found and refereed on pathway and all were benign / borderline so please don’t think being put on the pathway means you have cancer

healthybychristmas · 31/03/2025 02:37

Oh what a shock for you. I hope you get really good treatment as soon as possible.

sellotapechicken · 31/03/2025 04:35

I am a gastrointestinal surgeon and I cannot tell you the amount of incidental (accidental) liver lesions we find on CT scans, most of them (70%) are totally benign on biopsy. As the liver regenerates if It is benign it will be completely gone in a few months and even if you need surgery it will grow back to full size in 4 months. Brilliant organ

Okitsme · 31/03/2025 10:34

Thank you so much. I’m preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. I see the specialist nurse on Friday after- until then I’m trying to get ride of 50% of the contents of the house- especially my wardrobe!

I had a lesion on my liver that was discovered when they were investigating gallstones a few years ago. Got put on the 2-week pathway for investigating potential cancer and I was terrified. It turned out to be completely benign and nothing to worry about. I really hope that you will get good news very soon, too, OP. In the meantime, stay strong and try not to assume the worst - easier said than done, I know!

BIL was referred to Kings with a suspicious lesion on his pancreas. The urgency and the fact he was allocated a MacMillan nurse was terrifying.
The lesion was actually a cyst and he is absolutely fine.
Everything crossed for you.Xx

Toptotoe · 06/04/2025 16:56

I’m so sorry you are going through this. The waiting for a definitive diagnosis is awful.

i had ovarian cancer and lesions were seen on my liver on the initial scan and subsequent ones but when i was operated on the liver was clear.

I did exactly what you did whilst I was waiting for my diagnosis. I did a major clear out of my wardrobe and old paperwork which I put on a bonfire. It was very emotional but made me feel better.

I’m hoping everything goes well for you.

Goingncforthisone · 11/04/2025 09:06

Hi OP just wanted to check in and say hope everything is going OK for you.

Okitsme · 11/04/2025 10:21

Good morning, thank you for thinking of me.
i have good days, mostly, and then a dip. I have an endoscopy on Tuesday to drain my bile duct and then, probably, a biopsy. They are investigating secondary cancer of the liver but the specialist nurse I saw last week gave a bit of hope by saying I should have treatment as I’m young, fit and healthy.
Meanwhile my son and daughter in law are here although they fly home tomorrow and we had an incredible spa day yesterday. My other son and daughter in law are coming down next week to look after me after the endoscopy.
i started a massage yesterday sobbing and ended up felling so very thankful for all I have.

Sending you love and strength.

Okitsme · 16/04/2025 07:19

Thank you all for your support. The endoscopy found a tumour but the doctor in charge said he was pleased so it gives me a slither of hope that there could be a way forward, especially when he first introduced himself he said how sorry he was about the situation and diagnosis.
l don’t like the analogy of a war but I will give the bastards causing the problem as many bad moments as possible. I am not aggressive but I’ve found that I am very unforgiving and vindictive to anything that threatens the happiness of my family x

Goingncforthisone · 16/04/2025 21:12

Glad the doctor was hopeful. He knows what he's looking at so that's hopefully very positive indeed.

mechanicalpencil · 16/04/2025 21:21

So sorry to read your update OP, I hope you’re doing Ok.
💐

BoilingHotand50something · 16/04/2025 21:30

Here to hold your hand OP. What are the next steps? Presumably results from the endoscopy? Hope the wait isn’t too long.

Okitsme · 17/04/2025 21:46

No cure unfortunately but hopefully they will be able to manage it to extend life. I’ve got to see the oncologist next.
Three weeks ago I had no symptoms- still haven’t. It is all very strange.
i cannot tell you how wonderful you have all been x

I am so sorry op. Please stay strong and keep fighting💐

healthybychristmas · 17/04/2025 23:11

I'm so sorry. It must have been a terrible shock. Do you have friends you can talk to?

Okitsme · 18/04/2025 08:07

Thanks everyone. Yesterday my wonderful husband and I circled the wagons and hid. Today I’m telling family - not curable but to be managed- next week I will go to the MacMillan centre at the hospital for advice.
I’ve arranged a cleaner.
I’m trying to be focused and practical because anything else will be a waste of energy x
