Sorry to hear that @Wells37 . I hope they can give you more information asap.

Alltheyearround · 05/10/2024 11:35

🌺Glad at least that the hospital is near. That makes practicalities so much easier. Sending gentle hugs.

Todaywasbetter · 05/10/2024 11:43

Waiting for the plan is hard but being so close to such a major hospital it’s absolutely brilliant

ChishiyaBat · 05/10/2024 11:53

Love and best wishes to you, it sounds like you have a good family💐.

DontBiteTheCat · 05/10/2024 12:26

I’m sorry they’ve said it’s cancer OP.

I have a family member with glioblastoma. Take all the support you can get, and get through one day at a time. It’s a huge thing to process, be kind to yourself and lean on those who love you. Sending you very best wishes x

Treesnbirds · 05/10/2024 12:55

Sorry to hear you are going through this. My sisters friend was diagnosed with a brain tumour during covid. They said it looked cancerous, but then after biopsy said against all odds it wasn't 😱 I think it's unlikely the doctors are wrong but wanted you to know it is possible. She's doing well now and back at work etc.

Kitkat1523 · 05/10/2024 13:56

the waiting must be so hard for you…..I cannot imagine the anxiety it must be causing …….glad you have a supportive family…..but also going through a cancer diagnosis can be a very lonely place to be and take you to some very dark places …….said a little prayer for you 🌸

halava · 05/10/2024 14:49

What a blow for you, I wish you well, and am in awe of the positive way you are dealing with this.

Without sounding like a know all, can a brain tumour be diagnosed without a biopsy? Maybe certain types can, but if anyone knows I'd be interested to know.

The thread shows how fragile life can be from one day to the next. Thoughts with you for a good outcome OP.

Maybe not a definite diagnosis before the biopsy, but scans are very accurate these days to the experts. When I had breast cancer they told me from the first basic ultrasound to expect a cancer diagnosis when the biopsy results were in. I said how positive are you? He said 99% ……they wouldn’t say unless they were very certain.

Ah fuck, I'm sorry to hear your update. Life is just beyond shit sometimes.

Massive hugs from Australia. Please hold your nerve and take any support going. Now is not the time to be proud. 💞

Wells37 · 06/10/2024 09:52

I've been reading information on head of the game foundation. Ordered lots of the supplements he recommends and some cbd oil to help keep calm. Hopefully the dr will say it's ok to take them all.
Im going from having a panic attacks to feeling completely calm. Cried a lot this morning.
I didn't take lorazepam last night but took melatonin in the middle of the night. I'm not sure if it helps or not.
Dh has been cooking lots of nice foods, trying to eat well. Meat and lots of vegetables, nuts and yogurt. He's going to do a roast dinner today.

I wish I had something productive to say to you OP, I really feel for you. I really admire your strength and determination to try anything to help you. Having a little cry sometimes is to be expected. Xx

ArabellaScott · 06/10/2024 10:42

It sounds like you're doing wonderfully well, OP. All of the responses you're having are perfectly normal and to be expected, it's been a huge shock and a lot to absorb. And glad your DH is looking after you so well.

Icantfindanewname · 06/10/2024 10:46

Like @Demonhunter I wish I had something more productive to say to get you through to the time when you have your plan of action. It was, by far, the worst time of it all for me. There will be a plan, tailored to you and your needs. If surgery is planned, you get a good snooze and hopefully the recovery will be straight forward (I was hoping for longer in hospital with no cooking, cleaning, shopping etc!). If it's another treatment, hoik up those big girl pants and crack on. This is totally outing, my emergency brain surgery was just over 7 months ago. Today I'm doing three hours of effectively a HITT session to gain my next martial arts belt. C'mon, one day, one hour, one minute at a time, we are here to listen and support.

Jifmicroliquid · 06/10/2024 10:47

Thinking of you OP. Take care of yourself xx

Wow! That's amazing. Such a lovely positive story for OP to see. I hope your health keeps on the up and up. The determination and strength of some people truly amazes me xx

brainfoggyandtired · 06/10/2024 12:59

I'm so sorry you're going through this and also self employed. Get your GP to book an occupational health assessment. It will give you access to anything you need - even care in the home when your DH needs to work and you need someone to help with shopping, admin and household care. You might not need much now but it's worth getting on their radar so that it can be adapted as you go. It's not just physical, your mental health is a factor in how much you can do day to day so it's really important to get that support in place so your family isn't under more strain than they need to. When a family member was ill with cancer we had this and it was incredible how much we were able to get- equipment and staged level of home care. Maggies may be able to help with this but I'd definitely put a request in now via gp to get ball rolling. And make sure your DH is able to advocate for you medically at GP. Take care and I hope you can find some relaxation things to listen to to help with the moments of panic. Xxx

I am so sorry to,read that you do have cancer. I hope that you get all the support and help you need and that your roast dinner was delicious.

BellaVita · 06/10/2024 19:03

Just take one day at a time, don’t put any expectations on yourself. You do you. Rest if you need to rest and take pleasure in the days you feel like doing something. Get plenty of snacky things in just in case you don’t want a big meal.

Maggie’s is great. We have one within the hospital we attend for DS1 - he is going on Tues, they are going to show him around the ward he will go on for IV chemo <wonders if it is the same hospital…>

Sadly after a second craniotomy and 3/6 rounds of oral chemo the bastard is growing again. DS1 will now go on PCV - 3 different lots of chemo every 6 weeks - Day 1 IV and tablet, then days 2-10 a different tablet. This chemo is more aggressive.

How is your family member doing?
