Thinking of you OP. Lean in on your support network, and check out the charity posted above.

lizzyBennet08 · 02/10/2024 17:37

Honestly hope you get some good news soon. A close friend who went through something similar said this stage you're in is by far the worst, not knowing what you're dealing with. Catastrophising . Hopefully once you have a biopsy , they'll give your plan and you can focus on that's
Hugs

Wells37 · 03/10/2024 09:07

It's nice being home. I'm Very up and down, everyone is being wonderful though. I haven't needed lorazepam since I got home. I sleep well until 1-2am then I'm awake for ages. Steroids are starting to reduce today so hoping that might help sleep.
Going to try and go for a walk today. Dh has filled in referral to Maggies

So glad to hear you are home and resting. Have a lovely walk.

LushLemonTart · 03/10/2024 09:11

Enjoy your walk. We're all here for you ❤️

GoldenSunflowers · 03/10/2024 09:13

Enjoy your walk. I hope you get some better news in the days and weeks to come.

Todaywasbetter · 03/10/2024 09:30

Thank you for keeping in touch. Home is a wonderful place

Icantfindanewname · 03/10/2024 10:15

I'm glad you're home, and you have your family support. Steroids are fab at reducing swelling, but a bugger to sleep with - and your brain's probably busy catastrophising anyway - that is totally normal and not really controllable at the moment. I hope Maggie's is as wonderful and calming to you as they were with me. 4 month wait for psychologist on nhs, 2 days with Maggie's. I'm 8 months down the line from you, and am about to go for my second brain MRI check up after surgery (or is it the third, I think there was one before I was discharged 🤔- they have to drug me to get me in the room!). It's a bit of a blur, BUT I'm still going, and I wish with everything I have that you will too. If anyone tries to tell you, they know how you feel when they haven't been through it themselves, just smile and say ok (while rolling your eyes internally!). But that's the thing, you can get through this and we are all behind you offering that virtual hug (but if you're in Yorkshire, pm me and I'll happily make it a real one). You've got this x

Silvers11 · 03/10/2024 10:51

Enjoy your walk OP. I've been thinking of you and rooting for you

Mischance · 03/10/2024 11:58

I hope you have the lovely autumnal sunshine that is outside my window and that a walk will lift your spirits.

Wells37 · 04/10/2024 15:09

I'm being re scanned on Tues, I think to see if swelling has reduced. I have a lot more function in my arm so I think the steroids have helped. After the scan I'm see neuro surgery.
I've been to Maggies today I'm going to go to yoga on Monday and they said they can help with financial forms when we know more. They have yoga and exercise classes a few times a week which I will definitely go if I feel able so I don't go stir crazy at home.

Everything crossed for you, @Wells37 that you get good news. In the meantime, and I know how easy it is to say this, try to travel in hope. 🫂💐

ArabellaScott · 04/10/2024 15:23

Good to hear the steroids have helped and that you've got some help from Maggies. Hope you are able to rest up while you wait for things to move along. Flowers

Ukrainebaby23 · 04/10/2024 15:25

Promising news then so far.
Thanks for the update.

Maggies do great work.

BettyBardMacDonald · 04/10/2024 15:33

That sounds promising.

My manager's son had seizures a couple of months ago. He's a very fit, sporty man in his late 20s with no previous health problems.

He had many scans and was on anti-seizure medication, and a month or so ago they did a biopsy and it's not cancer. I hope you get a similar result. She said the biopsy procedure didn't seem too unpleasant, as these things go.

LushLemonTart · 04/10/2024 16:25

That's a good update. Take care.

Alltheyearround · 04/10/2024 16:28

We are all rooting for you OP. Yoga sounds good. Fingers firmly crossed for better news to come.

Icantfindanewname · 04/10/2024 16:28

I'm so happy to hear your update. Are you still allowed to drive (if you do), or is that a crappy surprise to come? Usually your consultant will tell you to surrender your licence for a period of time if there's something in your brain 😫. Forward planning is the way to go (don't drive yourself to the neurologist appointment).

I'm so glad you contacted Maggie's and you have found a distraction through them. There is still a possibility any tumour is begnine - please don't forget this. Even if it isn't, there is always hope, and support. As an aside, I was AMAZED at the quick recovery after surgery. It did take me a while to figure out why my forehead and the back of my head was tender, nobody thought to mention they have you on your side with your head in a vice (that's probably not the medical term!) during the surgery, but meh they put me back together. My hair has grown back over the incision, so no scar to see and most of the feeling has returned. I did have a rather stunning black eye for a couple of weeks, but it does heal.

I may have mentioned this before, but, you've got this. Please, please reach out if you feel the support of Mumsnet is needed, day or night, someone will be here x

Demonhunter · 04/10/2024 16:39

Still got everything crossed for you OP.

Sounds like you've got yourself in a good headspace and doing some fabulous things to keep yourself occupied. Great stuff xx

LilyJessie · 05/10/2024 09:05

@Wells37 thinking of you 😘

Fraaahnces · 05/10/2024 09:30

@Wells37 - I have been on steroids (prednisone) for a month for my own health condition. I seem to have turned into a bloody pelican. Can’t stop eating! Am fat and anxious atm! (Known side effects) Am weaning off them now and can’t wait!

HebburnPokemon · 05/10/2024 09:45

Good to see you trooping forward OP. Lean in on all the support you can find x

MuchuseasaChocolateTeapot · 05/10/2024 10:04

Thinking of you OP and wishing you the best outcome possible. You sound like you’re doing all the right things x

Wells37 · 05/10/2024 10:21

I was told last week I can't drive. We are very local to a very big hospital so Ubers are easy and dh or my mum and dad can take me anywhere I want. Dd drives too.
It's a really big specialist hospital and we are so close we hear the air ambulance at night!
Maggies is in the hospital grounds.
From the scans it definitely cancer not benign all the drs I've seen have said that.
