Just diagnosed with gallbladder cancer

I am 50 and have been just diagnosed with gallbladder cancer yesterday, after struggling with tummy pains for about the last 3 months. I put this down to stress after loosing my dad suddenly, but DH convinced me to go to A+E on Easter Sunday after struggling with the pain, and here we are now. I'm waiting for a CT scan of my Chest pelvis and abdomen, but don't really know the process after that, any advice would be welcome please as we are terrified.

The uncertainty is very hard. Over the next weeks a plan will take shape and you will feel better. The medics dont know themselves and have to carry out the various investigations.

Take some time with close family to get used to the idea.

Surely they will biopsy your lymph nodes to see if there has been metastasis. Hopefully it's just in the gallbladder.

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry - losing your Dad and now dealing with this. Just give yourself some time and headspace to try and process some of it - it can take a while for scans/xrays/blood tests to all be accumulated and put before the Doctor you'll be dealing with.

I'm sorry you're going through this, especially after losing your Dad so recently . I'm a year or so on from a diagnosis of bowel cancer. In my experience it took 3 weeks to get the results of my scans and be told the plan to treat my cancer. Those 3 weeks were the most difficult so far - the not knowing is very hard
I read advice on mumsnet not to google my cancer before getting a treatment plan and I think that's good advice. I would also say that McMillan have been a great help. You can call them and be given knowledgeable advice and support.https://www.macmillan.org.uk/
I hope you don't have to wait too long to get a treatment plan

Thank you all for your kind words, a letter has now been sent to my Gp and it says a cancer specialist nurse will be in touch with me hopefully today, I guess we are in the hospitals hands now so will just have to go with the flow. I feel we can't make a plan until we know more, and hopefully it won't be too long to wait for this CT Scan.
