We shall not be camoing this year but dh has decided that now, when the sales are on, is the time to buy a tent.
By next year we will be a family of four, two adults and two children. We would like to get a 6 man tent.
Dh has spotted this bargain . I think it's less than that now.
Anyway, I thought I should ask Mumnsetters what they thought. I notice that the Colorado is rated most highly.
Is this a good deal? We are also going to have a squiz around Touchwoods this afternoon to see what's on offer.

Soory, I got the impression you really didn't the tent you have just bought - I have probably misunderstood.

No, we like it, we just had one concern whether the design of the windows would be an issue and decided that we were willing to compromise on that. It's very worthwhile getting a tent with plenty of space in the 'living room' and with a large sheltered porch. In fact, from my vast experience, I'd say that space in the bedrooms is much less important than living room and porch space, and that you should get as much space there as you can, more than you think you'll need.

happymerryberries · 01/08/2005 15:53

agree with you that the living room space is most important. the one thing I don't like about my tent is tha lack of a porch and want to buy a side canopy to give us somewhere sheltered to cook in rain/ sit out if it is very sunny!

happymerryberries · 01/08/2005 16:01

Are you Dawdle, Mrs D?

Don't worry I'm not stalking you

Blu · 01/08/2005 16:05

CD: re colour: avoid green. Really doesn't flatter in the early morning light....

happymerryberries · 01/08/2005 16:06

Neither does blue/grey....but then it might just be my face!!!!

Janh · 01/08/2005 16:08

Our dead tent was yellow - that was quite nice in the morning. Pink would probably be best for a rosy glow though (teeth and eyes too!)

happymerryberries · 01/08/2005 16:10

Ah those camping bloodshot eyes!

I like having lots of windows, esecialy if we are stuck in the rain. It is the one thing I don't like so much in the Vangos (which otherwise are superb!)

MrsDoolittle · 01/08/2005 16:22

Yeah I'm Dawdle. Who are you?
I have noticed a SusieWong

Janh · 01/08/2005 22:26

Oh, shame - well not for you being flat out, business is business, but it would have been nice to see you all again

One of these days I will talk DH into a family Lakes camping weekend (he likes to go up there on his own, miserable git) and we can check you out!

MrsDoolittle · 02/08/2005 11:47

Okay, after some further research, I think I would like to have a look at this at the weekend Wynnster . I have thought about a tunnel tent but I quite like the hobbit like dome tents. Dh was just coming around to the Colorado 8, after the weekend. Then I go and change my mind. Poor chap.
