Would you drive to Holland just to buy a cheaper tent??

I'm gutted (see earlier thread - as everyone ignores me I'm taking shotgun approach to getting sympathy votes ) as I can't order a bell tent through the internet, so I'm now considering a weekend trip to Holland to buy it there.

Would you? Have you?

It's a saving of around £100, so even if just braking even, it would pay for the weekend.

It is the only way forward slubber, when camping with my pair of yetis. Although large yeti is now nearly my height, so I am hoping for some very organised tend pitching this year. Young yeti may well be through the whining stage by then and actually be of some use rather than using the maxim of 'as long as he's not whining let him carry on with reading the beano in the car whilst we pitch tent.'

They are, however, v good at setting up the bbq and cooking supper, if only to have the chance to set fire to things afterwards whilst mater enjoys a glass of wine under the stars.

Camping makeup supplies now going as minimalist as mascara, lippy and eyebrow pencil

tsk

ho ho ho don't be thinking that by going minimalist on your make up (makeup! camping!) you are somehow giving yourself a free pass out of glampersville.

I've pegged your wicket mrs. or whatever the saying is.

You need to be getting those sons of yours doing the LOT while you kick back and crack on with the drinking. What is the point fgs of having children if they don't get your tent pitched for you while you rummage for the bottle opener.

Slubber, thanks for link! Beautiful tents - my favourite from those the Guadeloupe you have which is perfect really as far as size is concerned. Money wise I just can't justify that just yet.

Sorry for taking so long to reply - I started a new job today, and have a horrid cold, so am now snotty and tired... Hey ho.

Had a quick read re tencate canvas. Really interesting.

I need more money... (and tissues)

Fnar, no rummaging for bottle opener- it's on the Swiss army knife on my keyring. Am always at the ready - or have tins of g& t in the coolbox.

For those who are having trouble ordering bell tents from Holland, if you really want one but don't fancy travelling over there, it might be worth pointing out to Obelink that what they are doing is in breach of EU rules on anti-competitive practices. If they are shipping everywhere else in the EU they can't just refuse to ship to the UK. My husband pointed this out to another company which was doing a similar thing to Obelink and they agreed to send the item to him. Unfortunately we decided against ordering it in the end anyway so I can't confirm that it would have arrived but we have no reason to think it wouldn't and it might be worth a try.

Hi oranges. Thank you very much for the tip, but I just don't have the energy for an argument with them now, so I'll just leave it. Appreciated though, and someone else might have better luck.
