I am fairly sure that they will solve all the problems of my life

But I need four

Also and this is a big problem, I am not sure what colours to get. Am leaning towards 2 x kelp and 2 x chilli. Oh decisions decisions.

My 2 kelp fat airics and 1 chilli regular have arrived today - can't wait to try them!!

Pleased with both colours - and the size of them rolled up has really suprised me, they're great!

Fillyjonk · 15/04/2009 22:40

well I have gotten the kelp and chilli ones

I was going to get lime but decided against it

I am poor now but the problems of my life (cold vs needing to camp) are solved for now.

thanks twink

I am stupidly excited about them. One should not be so excited about airbeds.

oooh I want these but they seem to be out of stock. Anyone know of a stockist, or got any similar recommendations?

Lilymaid · 29/04/2009 16:12

Fat Airics are only stocked by Alpkit and are out of stock until June/July. It is worth putting your name down on the waiting list if you can wait that long - Alpkit will contact you when they are in stock and will despatch immediately they are available. Have you considered a regular Airic - Thermarest do a similar product to Fat Airic but they are a lot more expensive.

amazonianwoman · 29/04/2009 18:39

Decathlon do a similar thickness to the Fat Airic for a similar price.

We have Fat Airics - the Decathlon ones do look pretty good though!

bea · 29/04/2009 21:37

i'm gutted they're out of stock! i've been umming and ahhing about what to get regarding mats etc and then thought ..definitely a fat airic is what i need.... get one... only to find out they're out of stock until june/july and nobody else does them!!! ahhh!

glastocat · 29/04/2009 23:06

Anyone got a regular Airic? I can't wait until June, well not for this year, as we do most of our camping early season. Should I make do and wait for next year to buy a fat airic instead? We've always had crappy Aldi airbeds before, but they always burst.

Pawslikepaddington · 30/04/2009 10:23

I want to know that too Glasto!

Lilymaid · 30/04/2009 12:05

I've got a regular - and it is comfortable even for the large of hips ladies like me. Many times better than an airbed.

smee · 30/04/2009 14:06

Ignoramus here, but I hate my thermarest. Too hard and too thin. Is the airic astounding then. Do tell...

Lilymaid · 30/04/2009 20:44

Don't know whether Airics are more comfortable than Thermarests - DH has only Thermarest in house and his is the shortest, lightest one as he backpacks with it. But the Airics are comfortable for me!

ingles2 · 30/04/2009 20:50

I have lime fat airics and I love them!
I have back trouble thanks to my job, and it's always been terrible on airbeds. Spent 3 weeks on my fat airic last year and nothing.... wonderful!

smee · 01/05/2009 09:30

I've got back problems too, that's why I find the thermarest a problem. Last time we went camping it was agony sleeping after a few hours, so am not looking forward to the same this time. Anyone out there used a thermarest then the Airic and can tell me the difference?

amazonianwoman · 01/05/2009 14:44

We've used Thermarests before (the original dark green ones) and bought Fat Airics earlier this year.

Haven't used them camping yet, but lying on the wooden playroom floor, they're infinitely more comfortable than the old torture Thermarests (I get backache too)

amazonianwoman · 01/05/2009 14:45

Forgot to say, I've used an airbed too, and hated it with a passion.

amazonianwoman · 01/05/2009 14:46

Not sure that a regular airic would be that much comfier than a Thermarest though? The Fat Airic is about twice as thick (at least)

humptyNdumpy · 01/05/2009 14:50

How much are fat airics? I've looked on Alkpkit but cannot see them. Also could a kind person link to where you put your name down on a waiting list

humptyNdumpy · 01/05/2009 14:58

Its ok Ive found them

Lilymaid · 01/05/2009 15:03

Here are (if there was any stock) Fat Airics and here is the "waiting list". I was on a waiting list for one of their duvet jackets last year and they contacted me as soon as they arrived and despatched one to me for next day delivery immediately I confirmed my orde (and paid).

gladbag · 01/05/2009 15:09

As a camper who despises the discomfort of sleeping in a tent, but loves camping, can I just say that fat airics are a wonderful wonderful invention, and well worth the money. Not only are they really comfortable (esp for someone who tends to sleep sideways on my large hip bones) but they insulate much better than traditional airbeds, and are v easy to set up and put away.

Get yourselves on the waiting list!

(We've got 2 X kelp for and a chilli for ds...)

Fillyjonk · 01/05/2009 20:45

oh they are brilliant

get on the waiting list now

worth every penny, though that is a lot of pennies

OP posts:
amazonianwoman · 02/05/2009 11:37

A lot of pennies but no way near as many as the Thermarest equivalent (over £100)

And usually a tenner off if you buy 2...

LiberalIdleOlogy · 02/05/2009 22:20

I've had many a comfy night's sleep on a regular Airic. We also bought Wee Airic for the children - what with 'em being short'n'all. Saved quite a bit of money (and space) that way. By the time the DC's legs are dangling off the end they should also be big enough for a paper round to fund their upgrade to full-size version. Probably would have gone for 4x Fat Airic if I were wealthier though.

smee · 03/05/2009 21:27

THANK YOU. You've cheered me mightily. I will get a fat one - sleep is after all an essential..
