We are going to look at tents tomo any reccomendations for 6 man!

This is our first tent.
We want sewn in ground sheet me , dp and 3 dc ?
Any reccomendations.

We've got a vango diablo and it's great

I would think about going bigger. A six man for 5 people might be a squeeze.

Dc are 1 , 4 and 6!
Have no idea tbh but dp frenzidly looking and i think some homework may be helpful

I think people generally recommend 2 berths more than the amount of people IIRC. We've got an 8 berth for 3 of us, we only use one of the bedroom pods though and have loads of space for all our crap equipment.

Are you going to look where they have the tents out on display to try out. That would be the best thing to do i think.

I have never seen the Iowa one in RL but it has a sealed ground sheet. Outwell tents are fab - we have a Montana 6 (like many others) but it sleeps 3+3 - which is more like 2+2 comfortably.

I think the Nebraska looks like a good deal as more adaptable, but it is only a bathtub groundsheet not totally sealed.

We've got an Outwell Montana 6 (got secondhand on ebay last year for around £230ish). It's fab. 2 bedbroom pods and bags of space inside. Also got an awning to fit on one end where we do our catering. Got a carpet subsequently and also the footprint groundsheet which acts as an insulator as well as keeping the groundsheet clean. Plenty of room - DH and me in one bedroom and DS1 and DS2 in the other. Could easily fit another child in the other bedroom.

Ignore that, the bathtub is just the porch - definitely worth a look

Hmm, not sure about squeezing a 3rd into the kids room of the Montana - would help for warmth I suppose . It depends on how old your DC are and how long you intend on keeping the tent before you upgrade

We have a brand new diablo 900 which has three sleeping pods. We have just upgraded from a diablo 600 which is exactly the same but with 2 pods. Great tent - for two adults and 3 children 15,9,5.
We got the new one of ebay, a shop - its brand new and the real thing, cheaper than GO.

Another Vango Diablo here. We are very happy with it (once it's up that is ).

I'd be wary of anything too big myself.

We have an 8 man tent (there are six of us so just following the noral+2 rule) and severa campsites we have approached in the last 2 years have refused to take the tent.

We're considering a smaller weekend tent but there's only so smallwe can go as a large family.

Our tent is a sun valley 8 which Outwell bizarrely pulled after just last year in its current formet, there are some good looking models in this years range though so worth a look. As a start though I would suggest that Vango / Outwell are tents for after you've had a fair few trips and are certain to continue; instead I'd suggest looking at the more premium tents in the ranges of Coleman, Gelert, Royal etc-excellent brands with a fair few years use in them but not as pricey as the Outwell; we progressed through a cheapo Argos tent to a great Gelert, then a Khyam (worth a look- some of their tents are incredible value for money) and then our Outwell which we aimto get several years usage from (5 years would be OK at 5 - 7 trips a year).

In support of what Peachy says, be careful before choosing a pod tent - some sites are starting to ask that you book two pitches if you have one rather than one. We have a Bear Lake 6 which is lovely - polycotton, loads of living space, big bedroom and smaller bedroom.

We've not had a problem with our Diablo 600 (900 is same size, just the extra pod) on pitches. But we like sites more spread out and with room between the pitches.
PS - I love the porch bit on ours.

We have a Wolf Lake 7 - we are very very pleased with it, like you we have three dc's although ours are a little older. However, I agree with Peachy, this is our second tent - we initially bought an inexpensive one from ebay and used it for a couple of years until we knew that we did enjoy camping. Also buying an inexpensive one meant that we didn't feel guilty about ditching it for a better one and we got to know how we camp as a family iyswim.

We have been before in friends borrowed tent on couple occasions.

Is it less economical to buy a cheaper one only to replace anyway ?

Our first tent cost £35 pmslin the sales so wuld only have asted a year anyway, but the Gelert (a Tahoma,like the Diablo 600 in many ways) was worth buying as it did a good frew trips and resold well on Ebay

TBH tents such as Outwell,Vango, Khyam QE imo are Premium Tents. There's abcolutely no ned to have one and most other brands are justa s good. It's like the difference between a Proton (good car, we had one for ages) and a MErc: functionally no difference but if you're intocars them there's a wow factor.

You wont go wrongwith most name brandtents,as long as your hh is over 3000 and it's pitched OK. It can howevertakeawhile to work out exactly what you want from a tent and for thisreason loads of us on here upgraded annually until we found the 'perfect'one,and that's only done through experience I think- and taht's when its worth investing £500+ in a tent.

I do have a suggestion for you, we loved it and I didnt elaise Khyam were still selling it- the Khyam Ontario 8. Worked brilliantly for 5 of us, premium brand decent price and DH could put up single handedly.ANd yes a SIG always a SIG here LOL. And it has a decent resalevalue too if you choose to move on- webought for £199 lanch year, sold for £150 after severaltrips.

Oh and another tip- lookmany potentialpurchase up on UK campsite website. Same for sites.
