Damnations, did a big post then browser crashed! Willredo in brief (waking baby)

hereKhyam Ontario 8

fair price

Consider the footprinta nd carpet too, great for heat retention and protecting your SIG (that goes ith all SIG tents, get a footprintb if available)

our old one give ou an idea of size but the porch and or canpt extension is extra (about £50)

I agree with Peachy's advice (not going back on my previous recommendations though ). We did originally look at the Ontario with the carpet, it is a reasonable price for a large starter tent, but we decided that the Outwell was much better quality and so worth paying the extra - I didn't realise outwell tents were the boden of the tent world .

We had experienced camping in several tents (cheap and expensive) though and knew what we wanted & didn't.

I like the look of the sprayway

Peachy · 03/03/2009 12:03

Washer Boden?Ah yes I do hope so

yes there is a quality difference but actually having owned both its quite insignificant. And the outwell pitchesquicker and more easily.... tbh I don't think you'd ever have a problem owning a Khyam anyway, theya re good.

I could write a poem about my Sun Valley but it would need the lines 'but to pitch / you are a bitch/ and cause no end of rows. you're strong in weather / but a pian to tether/ and have threatened my marriage vows'

If I was buying a 6 berth now I think I would go for the new Vango Colorado 6DLX. The only reason I didn't buy this tent a couple of years ago when choosing for us was that it didn't have a SIG. Now Vango has brought out a new version that has a SIG.

We don't need a new tent but if we did this is the fella I'd go for.

[[http://www.worldoftents.co.uk/outwell-indian-lake-tepee-tent-2009-p-1909.html I want this}} and I saw one of these [[http://www.outdoorworlddirect.co.uk/acatalog/deluxefamilytent3.html and it was}}lovely but actually I adore the Sun Valley right now its the tent for us (but teepee as a weekender maybe)

Washersaurus · 03/03/2009 23:13

I have never owned any Boden clothes btw, so couldn't vouch for their quality .

Hmm Khyam...we borrowed our friends Ultimate, which is like the Harewood; it has weird connectors on the poles to make it quicker to put up. We only camped in it for 3 nights and every night one of the damn plastic connectors snapped

....Now, that could have been how DH had pitched it, but we've never had a problem with our Monty, even in the most horrible weather.

Peachy · 03/03/2009 23:17

Wow i've never known that happen, but I haven't used that type of tent either- Khyams vary and they amke several types. That's a rifgidome easy up thing isn't it? loads of peopleswear by them but I dont like them- the nasty maroon shade they used one year put me off (shallow? moi? )

The Khyam I had wasnt a rigidome- just a standard put up tent
