Eurocamps

We have a found a Eurocamp however it is soldout .Can you use or pay to use the kids clubs even though you are not with Eurocamps?
Has anybody been to Les Sablons in the Languedoc?

Don't know about Eurocamp, but you can't at Canvas or Keycamp.

However, does the camp have it's own kidsclub? lLots of French sites do, but they will be run mostly in French, even though you may well have a good few Brits taking part.

what are the french mobile homes like they look worse than the Eurocamp,Canvas,Keycamps?

Also have a look at Vacansoliel . There use mobile homes very much like Eurocamp ones.

I've never stayed in one, but they look fab from the outside. In sites I have been to they also have a raised eating area outside the main door. IYSWIM.

I'd be astounded if they were of a lower standard. The French take camping /caravaning very seriously and expect facilities to be excellent. I bet it is the same of the caravans as well.

However I just wondered about sites in the Loire? Has anyone been. I am looking at the Chateau de Marais in Chambord. In the Whitsun week.

I'm looking at Eurocamp/Keycamp as we went with them last year and the kids clubs were my dd's fave bit. Whitsun week isn't so bad, but I want to book and dh wants to wait for a last minute deal!!

My friend went to Chambord (I think with Keycamp) last summer and had a fab time! She did a Twin Holiday with Chambord and Pierrefitte - and much preferred Chambord as it was a lot quieter and felt safer for the kids to have a bit of freedom.

We're off to Saumur (with Eurocamp) in July - did this last year and had a great time! The Loire is really lovely and there is loads to do in the area.

As an aside, definately can't use the Eurocamp/Keycamp Kids Club unless you are staying with them.

we went to Les Marais at Chambord a couple of years ago, it's lovely. Very pretty and quiet, nice bar/restaurant/takeaway, brilliant pool complex if it's warm enough - one of the pools is undercover though so you should be fine, we were in September. Don't know how old your kids are but it's a great area for cycling and walking, the site hires out bikes etc. You're right on the edge of the Chateau de Chambord estate which is lovely.

It's on our list for 'return holidays' if that's any help.

PC are you going the whitsun week? We are looking at arriving 28/29 May for a week.

Thanks Slinky my criteria was a park, with kids clubs and waterslides!! Last year we did Le Clayrs Plage in St Jean de Monts and it was great, but I fancied the Loire this time (shorter drive)

Could you ask your friend one silly question. SOme campsites in France don'thave proper toilet seats (loos are without them) does this one have seats??

Just looked in the Eurocamp brochure - it says toilets are "standard" so yes, they'll have seats. "Continental" are the ones where you have to "pee and aim"

not sure about the toilet/shower blocks as we were in a mobile home so we didn't use them apart from using the washing machines in the same blocks. Everything was spotless though.

yes, just realised what you meant, they are standard toilets, i do remember that much.

Ah but it said standard in the one we went last year, and they were 'standard' but still no seats!!!

Ah I see - actually thinking about it, I don't think I've seen any in France that actually have the seat bit.

So you have to squat or get a cold bum It was my only critism of a great holiday last year, so I just thought I'd ask

Anyway I am still trying to get dh to confirm if he'll be able to do that week. he works Fri eve and Sat and maynot be able to get the time off

Crunchie, we've been to the Loire several times but not to the campsite at Chambord. The site at Fierbois is fantastic, last year we went to the campsite neat Blois, which was too quiet for us as we have a 16 year old, but would be great if your children were younger.

My house is 2 minutes from the beach - can see the beach from my bedroom - so to go all the way to France for the beach is a bit like a "busmans holiday" for us!

We spend the rest of the summer holidays down at the beach here anyway

Of course that is an issue, but i means the pool is more important. Also as we go earlier it is not so hot, so full beach days are not always great. Sand gets everywhere!!

We like bike rides, reading books, chilling and letting the kids play with friends (also drinking wine etc) so somewhere smallish tends to be safer, but the girls do love the kids clubs, so that is almost our No1 Criteria.

We went to St Jean de Monts last year and that was fab. Great beaches but also a fab waterpark (Atlantic toboggon) where we spent a full day.

lillibet - that is the one i am looking at now - can you swim/paddle in the lake?

the only thing i would miss about the sea is an evening stroll along the 'front'
