My 'new' caravan arrives tomorrow! Does anyone want to help plan it?

Straight to the workshop 😔

But that gives me time to plan it's inside

It is dual purpose, shop and living for marketa and festivals

So I need to keep the weight down to allow for stock but I'm a bit disabled so I need to think about ease of use as well as storage - so it'll be no problem sorting it all out 🙄

I'm prioritising these jobs first:

  1. Check everything
  2. Seal or replace the roof vent
  3. Fix puncture/check ages of tyres (3)
  4. Fix lighting
  5. Fix battery/inverters/sockets/Hook up
  6. Lock on the door

And I need to start thinking about my bed - maybe a murphy bed or something that folds up? Any ideas

My brother suggested a bench to sleep on with a section that lifts up for a small toilet.....hopefully at the foot end of my bed and only for emergencies!

So excited!

It was the only thing you could have done. I have potty envy 😀

That silver trim really looks good against the purple. Hope things have come together today and you’re ready to go tomorrow.

KatyMac · 08/08/2021 05:34

I am packed (wrong apparently)

The painting isn't done and the awning is a disaster!

But im leaving at 6:30! Night xx

Hope you’re all set up and everything is going well. The painting can be finished another time as well as the awning.

Ugh! I’m sorry to hear that.

Well done that man on knowing how to treat you well.

Hope you have a better day today.

KatyMac · 09/08/2021 20:45

Sold a asecond hand dress got completely soaked setting up but it was dry by home time!

Packed up in 1 hr 20 mins (unheard of I can be 2 hrs plus)

Wow!

But I sold a dress online so that makes up for it

Sorry it was a bust on the selling side. Hopefully though it will mean more awareness of your online presence and you will get more sales that way.

Well done on the quick pack up, that always makes things feel a little better and as you get yourself into a rhythm you will get even quicker.

I had an amazing weekend and I even got the awning to stand up!!

Whoop! Whoop! On the awning.

So when’s the next one? 😀

MrsBobDylan · 19/08/2021 18:43

I have only just spotted this thread and am full of admiration for you @KatyMac

The colours look ace in your caravan - I hope you are starting to reap the rewards of all your skills and effort!

KatyMac · 20/08/2021 13:07

It's hard really

I started in Sept 2019, then shut in Feb 2020 - I did 3 or 4 winter/Christmas events then shut again and only opened in May

So basically I have worked about 10 months out of 24

So am I technically in my first year of trading? Or approaching my 3rd?

If its the first I'm doing great coving my pitch fees on a month by month basis and I have an Arts Council credit for costumes; if its the second I am stuffed Grin

How’s everything going @KatyMac? Have you managed to do any more work on the caravan?

KatyMac · 25/08/2021 20:42

No, well I put some plastic flowers up inside but I have quite a few Commissions atm so it's complicated

OP posts:
ElGuardiandenoche · 25/08/2021 21:10

Oooooo! That’s good news. Nice to have work to do.

KatyMac · 25/08/2021 22:17

Yes & Paid work! 4 commissions

I take teens shopping in charity shops then we come home and alter/upcycle it - I have done 3 in 2 weeks!

OP posts:
ElGuardiandenoche · 26/08/2021 22:18

Whoop! Whoop!

That’s good to have commissions, a real boost. Nice to have your teens on board with you as well.

KatyMac · 26/08/2021 23:30

Not sure if I was clear; they aren't my teens they are youngsters whose parents pay for them to have a shopping, sewing and upcycling experience! It's great fun for us all

ElGuardiandenoche · 27/08/2021 01:17

Oh! Wow! I love, love, love that idea. What a fabulous thing to do.

KatyMac · 27/08/2021 07:49

It's great

I agonised about the price but I think I have it right - 2 hours shopping 4 hrs sewing lesson (including converting what they bought into something wearable) 30 mins lunch (they bring a packed lunch so I dont have to worry about good hygiene)

Adults I will encourage to cycle round town....not sure I can with under 16s because of liability

3 so far - total of 10 wearable garments! We generally aim for 2 per person

KatyMac · 27/08/2021 07:49

Good hygiene = food hygiene (certificate)

KatyMac · 28/08/2021 19:31

My awning fell down but I had a good day

OP posts:
ElGuardiandenoche · 29/08/2021 00:20

I’m loving your business idea and fabulous way of getting people interested in reusable fashion.

Sorry to hear about the awning. Hope it’s salvageable. But glad it was a better day sales wise.

I’ve been on the beach all day today 🐚

KatyMac · 01/09/2021 17:03

It'll be fine

Hope the beach was fab!
