My 'new' caravan arrives tomorrow! Does anyone want to help plan it?

Straight to the workshop 😔

But that gives me time to plan it's inside

It is dual purpose, shop and living for marketa and festivals

So I need to keep the weight down to allow for stock but I'm a bit disabled so I need to think about ease of use as well as storage - so it'll be no problem sorting it all out 🙄

I'm prioritising these jobs first:

  1. Check everything
  2. Seal or replace the roof vent
  3. Fix puncture/check ages of tyres (3)
  4. Fix lighting
  5. Fix battery/inverters/sockets/Hook up
  6. Lock on the door

And I need to start thinking about my bed - maybe a murphy bed or something that folds up? Any ideas

My brother suggested a bench to sleep on with a section that lifts up for a small toilet.....hopefully at the foot end of my bed and only for emergencies!

So excited!

I am not surprized that you dont want to jump in the buying pool again too quickly .
Could you join / ask a local caravaning club for advice ?

KatyMac · 06/04/2021 19:12

I reckon so

I have sent the seller a tentative "it wasn't as described" message which may be pointless

And now I have to work out how to scrap it

I havent read the entire thread, but I'm currently living in a static van in the garden whilst we renovate.

The 1 thing I used more than anything in winter, was a karcher window cleaner. It sucks the condensation off the windows and helps reduce mould. I got mine on special from amazon, but lidl have one in their cleaning things from 11th April. The karcher one came with 2 sized heads, along with a cleaning spray for cleaning. All of which are so handy.

Thanks

Ok I am starting to plan another caravan!

I havent chosen this one!!

So if I can't transport the clothes on rails are there any advantages on having fixed rails rather than foldable ones

My plan was to have them hanging all the time but I'll have to hang them each time I stop as travelling with them will cause the caravan to be unstable

& colour

My logo is lilac/purple on gray but I have this strong feeling the caravan should be green (green & gray? Green & white or cream?)bit lost really

Or maybe light green/darker green?

@KatyMac, how’s it going with the caravans? Have you managed to get rid of the old one with minimal fuss? Do you have a new one?

KatyMac · 30/05/2021 13:31

I did get rid of the old one it cost so much!!

The new one might be ready mid June and I am trying to draw it on the pc at but failing miserably!!

Have you thought of a camper van ? You can get conversions done - a lot of horse owners get them done to transport horses to shows.
A converted van should be more structurally sound to start with. Obviously you wouldn’t need as big a vehicle as one for a horse .
You can waste a lot of money on caravans particularly old ones as they are basically chip board on a frame and once they get damp in they rot.
The more holes in the van the more chances for damp to get in and it has to be stable to take safely. So it might sound great to open up the sides but I really think you need to consider structural integrity and safety.

KatyMac · 30/05/2021 14:19

Well I am three quarters of the way through a restoration so no campervan

I dont want 2 vehicles and we need a car

Sorry I didn’t read the whole thread. Good luck with the conversion.
If you can afford it think about a cover as that will help keep it dry if you aren’t using it for long periods.

KatyMac · 30/05/2021 14:26

I am hoping to keep it in a barn - at least that is the plan

Berthatydfil · 30/05/2021 14:46

Even better.

ElGuardiandenoche · 30/05/2021 22:03

Sorry it cost a lot of money to get rid of the old caravan.

I’m afraid that the colours do nothing for me though it obviously depends what your logo and company name look like and obviously their colours and style.

KatyMac · 01/06/2021 10:19

Well it was a bit pants really - but it's not worth dwelling one

Onwards and upwards!

Prefer green at top of the two options but it screams Wimbledon!

KatyMac · 01/06/2021 11:43

Oops!

Maybe all green and no logo because some campsite won't let you stay if you are work related

OP posts:
ElGuardiandenoche · 01/06/2021 11:48

Can you get magnetised signs that you can slap on and take off. So while you are on the road and traveling around you can have them on and when you get to a campsite you can whip them off. It would probably be better than nothing at all, you wouldn’t want to get rid of all that free advertising altogether.

ElGuardiandenoche · 01/06/2021 11:57

I was thinking about your storage when traveling. How about using large, low, flat boxes. So you can take the clothes off the rail complete with hangers and laid flat with as minimal fuss or bother at all.

Or something like fabric under bed storage so they can be folded away while not in use and are probably lighter.
