Someone tell me which tent to buy from these 3, before I completely lose my mind

I sold our airbeam because dh hates camping and it was too big and heavy. So I have £400 cash to spend, but I'd quite like some left over to buy extra bits.

I have narrowed my search on local selling sites to:

1. Vango Icarus 500- comes with carpet and extension (but ext has missing pole and small tear)packs to 70 x 25 £120

1. Outwell nevada m - comes with footprint and carpet, sewn groundsheet had small hole which has been repaired with tape. £150

1. Outwell Minnesota- comes with extension canopy. Has steel poles, so much stronger, but pack size bigger than other two slightly 80cm x 49cm, but still half the size of old tent.

I have researched, I have read reviews, I am sending myself a little bit mad. Tell me what to do.

I've requested a refund via eBay, which seems to be what I need to do. I've never had to raise a claim before. She replied asking if I could just clean it with mould cleaner.

It's actually all the windows bar one. The whole thing reeks of mould.

Total refund. Mould cannot be cleaned off successfully.

Check the headroom in the Outwell bedrooms, looks like they are quite low? Our friends have the Vango 500 and it's a great tent. We have a similar shaped Go Outdoors version which has lasted us about 25 camping trips and is still going strong.

The one with the best HH. Am paranoid about tents leaking.

She should give you an instant refund, no questions asked. It was not as described. It has not been packed away dry.

It is really hard to clean mould off successfully, it will probably compromise the waterproofing (and no, you don’t want to ‘just Fabsil it’ if that is her next suggestion).

My guess is she has packed it away with condensation between the windows and the window covers.

Yeah I've requested a refund. Think gooutdoors will be what I do.

They've stopped doing the deal on the Vango Icarus this morning. And they are out of stock of the awning. :(

How about the Catalina? It's 5cm shorter but otherwise the dimensions seem the same

There's no awning for it though but it is cheaper.

Or cotsworld was doing a deal with carpet and footprint for 280 on the woburn 500 which is replacing the icarus 500 (apparently. But it looks like bith models have been sold.) We love ours. An icarus 500 extension would fit but we didnt want an extension !

DH says not to buy a new tent until we have refund on this one. I have a 3 man dome tent I could take for weekend, but nowhere to store clothes, cooking stuff, food etc. Its tiny. I'm stupidly upset, but I am havinng a generally shitty time at the moment.

Is there anyone local that can lend you a tent?

Where are you salve? You could borrow my outwell if anywhere near by we don’t have a winfield so I guess not!

Did you request the refund from the seller or from PayPal? If it was from the seller it might be worth ringing PayPal and seeing if they can do it quicker?

Since the seller admitted it and you have photos you'd think it could be done instantly.

I followed the links on paypal which led me to raise a claim with ebay. I've requested a refund formally through ebay. She has 7 days to respond and tehn ebay will intervene.

Ah, that's so annoying it'll take a week, but at least eBay and PayPal always side with buyers now so you'll get it back eventually. I hope you get something sorted!

Grrr. I've just discovered a split pole too! I feel like we can safely buy another one has ebay/PayPal will refund us.

Is that daft? Or too risky? I mean ultimately we need a usable tent.

I think you're 99.9% certain to get your money back since it's eBay and PayPal. Since you need a tent then I'd probably go for the tent you want while it's on offer as you may end up paying more by the time the money is back.

I know it's a lot easier for me to say that when it's not my money though.
