Only a third more??

Blu · 04/06/2007 18:11

I was thinking exactly the same thing, Fillyjonk, as I tried to herd a small flock of laying hens along in front of the bike which had DS perched on the cross-bar and the Burleigh trailer full of rhubarb stalks, tent poles and cress growing in blotting paper.

We would have had a lovely time if that damn caravan hadn't run over the hens.

Blu · 04/06/2007 18:12

Fio, you are beyond the pale.
But we knew that already.

Desiderata · 04/06/2007 18:13

That's the point, isn't it filly? When people are smug about it and then end up doing something totally hypocritical.

Caterpiller - I must say that you're being a bit .... a bit ... provocative today

Blu · 04/06/2007 18:15

So am I allowed to use toilets on caravan sites as I pass by, or not? Is it ethical?

kokeshi · 04/06/2007 18:20

You need to get a Mazda Bongo, they are the bees knees .

lol Fio, I have no idea! Is this something I should know? This maybe an fantastic business opportunity as I do speak a little mandarin

debbie26pet · 04/06/2007 20:15

whos leg are u pulling or trying to get someone going?

i am a caravan person yes i have one and yes we have a 4x4 and i wouldnt swap them.
what about how much these plains use etc they are big polluters and what u pay for a holiday abroad otr even i get one every mth maybe more and my kids love it so im still
and i can honestly say we dont really use that much to tow it not noticed it

fillyjonk · 05/06/2007 06:47

oh dear, don't get me started on 4x4

I love that people always justify it by saying "oh but it pollutes less than a flight"

well a. no it DOESN'T, not unless you fly everywhere

and b. believe it or not, many of us don't really fly. Can't remember when I last flew, would have been through work.

OP posts:
Nightynight · 05/06/2007 06:58

everyone here has 4x4s, and I automatically go into Tutting mode when I see them, bloody gas guzzlers, what do they need that for on.....er, mountain roads that are full of snow 4 months of the year.

Am due to buy a 2nd hand car soon, but every time I pass the dealer in our town, he only ever has giant 4x4s, and Im looking for something more along the lines of a Ford Fiesta.

fillyjonk · 05/06/2007 07:29

they ARE revolting.

I really do see that some people need bigger cars. I have no problem with a larger family, or a family with SN members, having a BIG car. But 4x4s are unecessary in the town.

I don't get why people think its somehow clever to put two fingers up to the environment, really

OP posts:
Nightynight · 05/06/2007 07:34

they think it is because they are cleverer than the herd, filly! I cant stand them either.

chonky · 05/06/2007 07:43

What I want to know is why do caravans have such naff names? Names like Huntress, StarRider, Voyager III...I could go on and on. They somehow seem incongruous with the concept of caravanning.

Agree that VW campervans are the epitome of cool .

chonky · 05/06/2007 07:45

And another vote against 4x4 in towns - I mean 'what is point' apart from trying to make yourself look awash with cash? You don't - you look an idiot.

fillyjonk · 05/06/2007 12:15

oh i once saw one called "rivendell"

that had me pmsl for WEEKS

it was all done out on an engraved plate

OP posts:
CarrotMisses · 05/06/2007 12:25

you don't belong to the caravan club then!

we had one the when my first two were babies, couldn't be bothered to pack everything and tents get too hot

I don't like the look of them though. This year F is four months and DH has just sold the vw complete with resident rat

we're having a tipi instead

fennel · 05/06/2007 13:20

My campervan was very cool. Lavendar painted 27 year old VW. But I couldn't honestly say it was good on petrol consumption. Except when it was out of action for exploding after going up a hill (which happened fairly regularly).

quadrophenia · 05/06/2007 14:23

carrot do you mean its a rat look campervan?
