FrannyandZooey · 02/06/2007 22:17

oh fab

how can there be carpets in a tent? How? I do approve though

Conversely, I have been considering getting my bedroom laid with grass

Aitch · 02/06/2007 22:23

someone on here has a fitted carpet in their tent. apparenlty it's great for insulation when they're asleep. or that's how they defended themselves on here, at any rate...

TheArmadillo · 02/06/2007 22:26

saw someone inerviewed on telly once (can't remember who) who had plastic grass as flooring in their bathroom.

Apparently it is very hard to clean.

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:27

I fucking HATE any and all forms of carpet even worse than I do smelly animals.

WHY the fuck would you have one in a damn tent?!

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:28

Why not get an closed celled sleeping pad and top it with an open celled one?

Or an inflatable mattress if you have to.

Insulation? It's a TENT?

Ground tarp and then tent.

Hello?

NikkiBFG · 02/06/2007 22:30

Expat - you are just like my DH!! He doesn't understand the English obessession with carpet and cannot stand it in loos etc etc!!

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:30

Oi

why do I have one?

Its the insulation, I have reynauds and get really cold painful feet if I forget it

So tehre

Aitch · 02/06/2007 22:35

see, i told you... defensive.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:36

OOh you all abcked off than

Actually forst time we camped we toom practically zilch, kids sat on booster seats (was legal then) and we had a single burner. These days we seem to accumulate equipment like nobodies business- the two ring hob for example, it was cheaper to buy it on ebat and get a gas tanbk that way to refill than to buy a tank separately! Nwever used the hob though- just the grill combo thing we like. We got a larder thing but I think its a bit superfluous tbh, we dont have a fridge (I dont do leccy and camping, seems pointless tbh)

Now here's one for what the point:

tent this week

two pup tents alongside

one has clearly visible a full PC with tower plugged in!!!!!!!!!!

??????

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:37

Do ya want pics of my chillblains? do ya?

DO YA???????

PMSL

(and if you do bad luck, I have bette things to do than take pictures of my decomposing feet LOL)

Not so much defensive as deliberately aggressive and enjoying it!

Kewcumber · 02/06/2007 22:39

carpets sound an excellent idea (so do the satellite dish and doorbell). Just add a few brick walls and a roof and some running water and electricity and hey presto a proper holiday...

MrsCarrot · 02/06/2007 22:40

Well, I've never had a carpet in a a tent but,

some people we knew used to have a gorgeous canvas number with a stove, and carpets laid around and a futon with a mattress, lamps hanging etc,

and we all used to creep in there when it was cold/wet. It was soooo cosy!

I have Raynaulds too, but my feet are not really affected, but i did put fleecy blankets down on the floor at night so i can see the benefit of carpets or warmer flooring for you Peachy.

My hands are worse - i sleep with gloves on.

expatinscotland · 02/06/2007 22:42

Carpet in a loo.

Why not just use a bucket for the toilet, too?

It can double as a recepticle for your vomit.

Cuz carpet is as boggin' and bowfin' as puke on the floor.

And about as hygenic.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:42

Brick walls a sore subject here

(just got back to find the neighbour ahs built a solid breeze block wall IN OUR GARDEN! Actually its rented but she told landlord it was a conservatory and was told to bugger off, so she just waited til we wenta way and now its there protruding ina good foot and the agents closed for the weekend)

Quen Cow IMO

ANd she's binned the rest of the fence in spite at us telling the landlady so kids cant go in the agrden as her building equipment alla round- glass everywhere in our garden ffs

Sorry rant over)

Kewcumber · 02/06/2007 22:42

not keen on carpet then, Expat?

I have Raynaulds BIG TIME, the result of frostnip in my hands.

You DON'T NEED A FUCKING CARPET!

Even with Raynaulds, I was able to trek to K2 basecamp and sleep there for 4 weeks with NO carpet in the fucking tent.

I'm still here!

Shake some cayenne pepper into some fleece gloves and into wool sox and go to sleep carpet free.

Peachy · 02/06/2007 22:44

Oh I hate loo carperts! Agree with you there!

My hands are OK Squidette, seems to be my feet. Apaprently i go so cold at night though Dh thought I was dead first time and panicked!!
