Ooh! I want to book up some camping soon. Enjoy!

holmessweetholmes · 27/03/2015 19:59

Are you going somewhere warm?

MrsWembley · 27/03/2015 20:07

Just up from Tiverton. Sort of between the moors. Probably not...

How cold will it be?

OP posts:
holmessweetholmes · 27/03/2015 21:17

Ah. I camped in Devon a few Easter's ago. Beautiful and sunny. And bloody freezing! Frost on the ground in the mornings. Good luck OP! Grin

MrsWembley · 27/03/2015 21:35

Camping last Easter was one of the reasons we started to convert to EHU.

DP gets gout and the cold started off an attack that seemed to last most of the year.Sad Got an electric heater now. We did have a gas one but we didn't like leaving it on overnight.

I'm excited too mrs! We've got about 8 different campsites booked, first one next weekend. Can't wait

Thumbcat · 27/03/2015 23:37

I have four trips booked, first in a couple of weeks, new tent and new sims. Very excited here too Grin

MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 02:10

Eight?!!!!

And I thought four was good going! I mean, it's not even Easter yet!

Yes, four, much more acceptable...

We are away Thursday but in a van...our friends though are in a tent...but they're quite hardy people with EHU!

mayfridaycomequickly · 28/03/2015 07:23

We bought new tent pegs in aldi yesterday - hard ground ones. Exciting! :-)

MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 07:35

They can't be that hardy if they need EHU!Wink Before DP's gout required it, we just layered up!

Hard ground pegs? Where you off to?

OP posts:
mayfridaycomequickly · 28/03/2015 07:40

Nowhere booked yet but they were in the baskets of temptation in Aldi and you never know when you'll need them! ;-)

MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 09:24

Ah, the temptations of the basket...

Dreading the trip to Go Outdoors for exactly the same reason.Wink

Anyone got any idea what the weather is planning on doing next weekend? We're off to the Peak District in the camper - I must buy a new fan heater as our thermostat bust (one of our dc is only small though)

We've got two more trips booked (and paid for!) And just debating about going to a big meet up in Aug.........

MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 11:38

If you're in a camper, the weather's not such an issue, is it? If I were you, I'd make sure we were somewhere with stuff to do in the wet.

And don't debate going anywhere in August, just go!

colleysmill · 28/03/2015 13:16

I dunno it can get mighty nippy still in the van! 2 easters ago we had ice on the windows inside (although it was lovely during the day) but no ehu that weekend

Still I have thick socks, beer, uno and there's a pub nearby .........

poorbuthappy · 28/03/2015 18:03

We made it to Go Outdoors today and bought a Cadac Safari (took a lot of persuasion) and new waterproof coats for the kids.

Weather is looking dry but not entirely warm which is fine!

SummerSazz · 28/03/2015 18:17

We're camping next fri, may 1/2 term and 3 weeks in the summer Smile

MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 22:08

Ooh, Go Outdoors, so good, so full of possibilities, so many things we discovered we needed. I just went in for some cheap trousers that I could trash, wash & dry quickly, then trash again. But then realised that I needed thermals underneath and an extra layer on top. And there was this lovely Weird Fish fleece.

And that was just me. Then there was DP. And then there was DD and DS.

Still, there's stuff we now don't need to worry about for the rest of the year! Or two Grin

Still very excited even with the absolute knowledge that it's going to be cold.

OP posts:
MrsWembley · 28/03/2015 22:11

That Cadac Safari looks good. We're going with a traditional coal fed BBQ, but DP wrapped it up and called it a birthday present, which means I call the shots!

It is 'feast-sized'.

We have two family trips booked. Easter hols in the UK and August in France. Then another one planned with friends at Whitsun.

We have a van now which makes trips less weather-dependent. We camped on the East coast on Christmas Day last year. It was damn cold overnight because DH refuses to leave the heater on when we're asleep.

I'm very disappointed that the much-mooted fine weather for Easter doesn't seem to be materialising Sad

MrsWembley · 29/03/2015 08:30

I'm following the weather forecast for Tiverton and it does seem to be improving. It said showers and sunny spells a few days ago and now it says sun with some cloud.

Keep your pecker up, it'll get better.

OP posts:
Quenelle · 29/03/2015 08:48

Yes. Yes. It will get better.

colleysmill · 29/03/2015 09:54

I'm off to go outdoors today :) we need new torches and a collapsible bucket.

I might go to Lidl then to stock up the van with non perishable essentials -beer- and some new bits for the washbags (I like to have duplicate stuff already packed so I don't have to worry about transferring stuff all the time).

And a new fan heater. Must not forget that!
