and the weather forecast doesn't look much better for the weekend.

We're away for 4 nights to North Wales in our folding camper - I suspect it's not going to be much fun if the rain is this heavy.

What are your wet weather fall backs while camping. Obviously go out anyway and try and find indoor activities, but failing that? Dses are 5 and 2, so while the older one would be thrilled with a few board games inside the camper while the rain pounds down overhead, I can't see ds2 being thrilled...

Ah yes!
Hence your hankering for a cottage by the sea on t'other thread eh??

GeorginaA · 25/08/2006 22:30

yes, it was lovely. Basic, but lovely. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I pass it nearly every day going to work.I love that drive, with Yr Eifl looming and the west coast of Anglesey visible.

GeorginaA · 25/08/2006 22:32

Oh you cow, I'm so jealous!!!

We were this close to the sea with our pitch.

Lovely!

North Wales my fave place in whole wide world.

GeorginaA · 25/08/2006 22:37

It's a whole other world, it's gorgeous.

Have you ever read Here Be Dragons by Sharon Penman? I read it shortly before going to the Eisteddfod in Llangollen as a teen and completely, head over heels, fell in love with the place.

Makes me wish I'd been born Welsh.

Camper?
Is that jargon for a tent then?

Must say,all thiscamping talk on MN has got me rather interested.
I know lots of people in North Waleswho camp at weekends about 10 milesfrom home!

moondog · 25/08/2006 22:41

No,haven't read it,but have heard of it.

GeorginaA · 25/08/2006 22:42

It's a folding camper - it's half tent half caravan Caravan at the bottom, tent at the top so a bit more luxurious!

Go on ... give in ... you know you want to camp... don't fight it... give in to the dark side...

OP posts:
moondog · 25/08/2006 22:43

lol

It's a whole new realm eh?

GeorginaA · 25/08/2006 22:44

Bwahahaha...

... free pot noodles and fruit shoots for all who camp

I would be sipping Chablis and grilling kebabs and making my own bread.

sally: me, all my photographs LOL at your dh suddenly liking camping!! BTW, there's a camping show at the NEC in October where both Pennine Group and Riva (another folding camper company) will be exhibiting. Might be worth attending so dh can see some in the flesh?

moondog: just think of it as another inroad you can make into proper food. I'm always stucky with what to cook when camping, so you can trailblaze for all of us then write a comprehensive recipe book. No recipe should contain more than 5 ingredients, must be able to be cooked on a 2 pot camping stove and take no more than 30 mins to prepare

GeorginaA, sorry to say I had a nosey myself at your absolutly, beautiful, stunning photographs, they were very arty, you are very talented . Your boys' looked so relaxed and happy! Was that Erdigg you went to? We went there when we stayed at The Plassey, isn't it absolutely amazing, all those rooms left exactly as it was over 100 years ago, I couldn't see all of it properly as was holding my 2 year old and trying to control my dh and three other children!

GeorginaA · 26/08/2006 21:22

Browny, don't apologise, I publish the photos on the web after all Not convinced about the talented bit though

We went to Penrhyn Castle, Plas Newydd and Bodnant Garden (but vastly preferred the first two to the last), not Erdigg this time.

GeorginaA · 26/08/2006 21:22

(Oh, know totally what you mean about seeing the places with young children in tow! We get a flying visit of the house, then they "guide" us round the exploration of the gardens!!!)

BROWNY · 27/08/2006 18:54

What type of camera have you got GeorginaA? I love taking photographs, but mine are nothing like yours at all.

GeorginaA · 27/08/2006 18:58

My main camera is a Canon Powershot A620, so not a hugely expensive one. I dream of owning a DSLR, but the funds sadly keep getting diverted elsewhere

Oh, can definitely recommend reading up simple techniques for composition which can make a huge difference (lots of free resources on the web if you google for them).

It's also handy tidying up photos afterwards in a package like Photoshop Elements or Paintshop Pro - I often crop the photo, adjust the exposure or punch up the colours afterwards on the computer.

Digital Photo Magazine (if you're interested in that kind of thing) is fab for ideas and techniques - doesn't use loads of jargon but doesn't talk down to you either.
