sleeps 12

iota · 21/07/2006 18:59

this is mine and I paid more than £139 for it

Scoobydooooo · 21/07/2006 19:03

I am asking because i dont know if we should buy the outwell hartford XL, its the size that scares me, but i cant go for the L because it only has 2 bedrooms & we want 3.

Blimey LTH pretty impressive tent, when are you using it this year? have you had it up yet? would love to know what its like?

we haven't even put it up yet!!

We bought it to start camping hols from next yr (we already had our holiday booked for this yr). Surprising it isn't that big.

It says it sleeps 12 but it would be a bloody tight squeeze is there were 12 people in it. Each bedroom (3 of them)is about the size if a kingsize bedm, maybe a bit bigger actually. The living area is quite big but with 3 boys (and another baby on the way) we need a reasonable amount of indoor space too. We went to a camping show at a farm near us and that were we saw it. We didn't really know what we wanted before we went, had no intention of buying anything....we saw it, knew it would be ideal so came home and searched the WWW and got it for about £400 rather than the RRP of £650 (or something)

I really can't wait to start using it, we always camped when I was little an I loved it. My ds's will be beside themselve with excitment at the thought of living in a tent for 2 weeks.

Arrgghh...i meant to be packing for holiday...

Troutpout · 21/07/2006 20:22

Outwell Monty 6
'mondy'...he's damn handsome too

marthamoo · 21/07/2006 20:27

Outwell Montana 6, same as Troupout. It's fabby.

Troutpout · 21/07/2006 20:27

oh and we will be using the same tent for holidays and weekends...and 4 of us stay in it.

Scoobydooooo · 21/07/2006 20:49

Is it easy to put up toutpout & how long does it take you?

HenniPenni · 21/07/2006 21:32

We have the Putwell Hartford xxl, supposed to sleep 12 but it would be a squeeze. We are a family of 5 and it's size suits us, with loads of room to spare.

HenniPenni · 21/07/2006 21:35

Outwell not Putwell doh!

LucyCampCat · 21/07/2006 22:30

Outwell Colorado 8 for week long or more amd a Vango Venture 500 for weekends .....oh and a Quechua 3 second for overnight stops

Troutpout · 21/07/2006 22:31

When we used it last it took 4 people 25 mins. I reckon it would be about 45 mins for 2 people. The best bit about it is that once you've got the frame up, the rooms are already there too.

marthamoo · 21/07/2006 23:26

That's how many tents, Lucy...?

Yup, the Monty 6 for 2 people...around 45 minutes, I'd go along with that. Once the main poles are up it's just the pegging out of guy lines that takes a bit of time.

handlemecarefully · 21/07/2006 23:28

A vango something or other. I find it a bit complicated tbh

vitomum · 21/07/2006 23:58

I've got the vango venture 5oo too lucycampcat

alligator · 22/07/2006 00:12

got 2 tent Vango micro 150 for me and dd and a really old vango 200 for dp and dss (which used to sleep all 3 of us when dss was younger). htey are great small, light weight and loads of storage space. Brillaint tents all round.

LucyCampCat · 22/07/2006 11:29

erm 3 marthamoo

a tent for all occasions that's us!

Scoobydooooo · 22/07/2006 11:42

Thanks for all these tents been looking at tents all morning, blimey this picking a tent hing is really hard, what do people think of the vango colorado 600DLX tent, this has the 3 bedrooms we wanted but is on a smaller scale than the hartford XL tent.

Scoobydooooo · 22/07/2006 11:44

Have any of you ever had any problems ie: being turned down to stay on a site because your tent is to big?

OP posts:
LucyCampCat · 22/07/2006 11:48

We haven't but a lot of sites will ask how big your tent is, or they will give you a 'usable space' including car parking space. One site we are going to this summer is an 8m by 3m space, but w have a tunnel tent so it's easy to move into a space unlike some of the large domes which leave 'unusable' gaps around the edges iyswim.

It is soemthing that's worth bearing in mind though.

marthamoo · 22/07/2006 16:23

We had the Vango Colorado 800DLX and I hated it, Scooby. It's down to personal preference, I know, but it doesn't have a sewn-in groundsheet and there were large gaps all around the bottom of the flysheet where it doesn't meet the groundsheet. Every iggy on the campsite seemed to end up in our tent Not all bathtub groundsheets are so 'gappy' but that was my experience of the Colorado - hence, selling it on ebay and getting a Monty instead with its lovely lovely Outwell sealed groundsheet system

Milliways · 22/07/2006 21:37

Milliways Mansion

Scoobydooooo · 23/07/2006 09:59

Oh glad you told me that because i dont do tents without sewn in groundsheet i am a wimp & do not like to share my space with creepy yucky crawlies.

Have had another look & it is now between 3 tents,

  1. Vango Aspen 500

  2. Vango aspen 500 DLX

  3. Vango Diablo 400

So please vote for which tent
