Yelloh Le Serignan Plage or Mediterranees Beach Garden - any reviews?

Anyone been to either of these sites recently and able to recommend? Am trying to find a Thomson Alfresco site for next year - we want to fly from Stansted, have direct access to beach and town not too far. Found a fab site in Italy for this year, but keen to try France.

Or Les Sablons?

noting with interest as I'm already thinking of Serignan Plage for a week next summer - I think cheerup has been there when I searched the archives.

I have been looking at Serignan Plage this very afternoon for next year. Looks nice doesn't it?

Have you already been this year or are you yet to go?

Serignan Plage and les Sablons look good, but I really want some honest reviews from people who've been! Tripadvisor reviews on these two are not that current. With Thomson Alfresco you can use up to £500 of Tesco vouchers, by the way.

Brasilia I've ruled out, as the Thomson Alfresco mobiles are by a busy road, and reports of lots of traffic noise and fumes.

Great site - lots of facilities, on a beautiful beach. Adults only spa is fantastic for an afternoon's peace with 3 or four small pools of it's own. Indoor pool for little ones as well as lagoon style one and, of course, the med. Playgrounds all over the place. We got free bike hire with our rental and went on an afternoon's guided cycle whilst grandma babysat - perfect. It was reasonably busy and there was still a full programme of activities when we were there at the end of September 2010 so it might be quite lively high season but it is a big site so can probably take it. Nice market in Serignan and lots of possible day trips to Montpellier, Carcasonne, Agde etc. Good sanitaires all over the place including on the way back from the beach.

Downsides? It's not really walkable to anywhere. Erm, it's quite big (if that's a downside). I wouldn't go with Eurocamp as their vans were very close together and no landscaping. Thompson Al Fresco looked OK but the Yelloh accommodation was best by far and the pitches looked good. Selectcamp do their Lodgetents there which are tempting.

I would definitely go back again if we could go outside school hols but it's over our budget peak season hence a different destination this year.

We did serignan two years on the trot. Love it. Don't book with thomsons though. Go direct through yelloh as you get much nicer accomodation - check out the Cabannes. Beach side and beautifully decked out. Definately recommend.

Thanks ladies, that's useful. I should have added that we usually avoid hiring a car to keep costs down, am wondering how taxi able the site is from Perpingnan.

Does it have to be Perpignan airport? We hired a car from Carcasonne and it wasn't a long drive. Even closer to Beziers, & Montpellier not far either.

Could do Carcassone - no flights from Stansted to Beziers unfortunately, and as we're 15 mins from Stansted, it's much more sensible to fly from there. I'll have to look into cost of car hire - in Italy this year we paid 80 euros each way for airport taxi transfer, which took an hour.

Hello Slubber! we've already been to France got back on Sunday after 3 weeks away and now trying to get the dust off the camping equipment - not much grass in the south of France!

Thanks for the info re Serignan - that's really useful. We swam in the Med (at L'Espiguette - stunning beach) a few times this year and the kids loved it, but we were 30 mins away, hence the looking for a beachside site for some of next year's holiday.

Mmm, I've just been looking at Italy again - much better flights from Stansted to Lake Garda area. I have a feeling the mobiles were cheaper than the French ones, too, when I looked this year. I'm still hankering after France, tho - it's just finding one that ticks all the boxes!

Another big yes for Serignan! The adult spa is amazing, the on site shops a great (esp bakers and fishmongers), our kids (then 4 and 2) loved it, and there looked to be loads for older kids too. Hoping to go back next year...

Ok, thanks - just looked at the Lake Garda ones again, and they insist on swimming hats! I think not. I'll start investigating flights and transfer to serignan!

Minx I think on the select camp site it says you can fly to beziers. There is also a train station there (we are thinking of training it next year rather than flying).

Yes, Beziers would be fab but unfortunately no flights from Stansted. Think we'd be best off flying to Carcasonne and hiring car - just looked, and car hire is about the same price as taxi transfer.

Oh that is interesting about the car hire. Carcass ass hole Carcassone is v lovely iirc. Walled city isn't it?

Palamos got lots of envious looks and people presuming we were Dutch, but as the temps in the tent easily reached over 40c we were right in not needing such a big tent as Lakey as we were sitting in the shade under the olive trees rather than in the tent sheltering from the rain.
we met a family from Scarborough who had got the train to Nimes - they left the site at 8am in a taxi to Nimes train station and arrived back in Scarborough at 9pm the same day - sounded very civilised but I have no idea about the cost.

Oh that's interestsing re other train campers. Did they have their own tent or were they eurocamping? Not sure what to do on that one. Do you think I would end up killing someone if we tried to do it in little back pack tents in that sort of heat? Glad to hear the Palamos is still working so well.

They rented a mobile home direct from the site & the site organised their taxi transfer as well I think.

Mmm, I've been looking at Mar Estang as well, a friend recommended it. Anyone been? Bit smaller than Serignan.

Sorry not sure about the public transport situation on/off site. We drove. But tbh we didn't leave the site except for a supermarket and vineyard shop. There is a pretty good shop on site although I thinks it's prices are hiked up a tad. But the bakery is fab and they do a fantastic takeaway paella type thing every night. Oh and the restaurant is good too.
