Yelloh Le Serignan Plage or Mediterranees Beach Garden - any reviews?

Anyone been to either of these sites recently and able to recommend? Am trying to find a Thomson Alfresco site for next year - we want to fly from Stansted, have direct access to beach and town not too far. Found a fab site in Italy for this year, but keen to try France.

That's re serignan plage btw.

we went to Les Méditerranées two years ago and LOVED it. The Thomson MH were lovely and we had great reps. I think the site has been separated to Beach Garden and Beach Club but, from what I remember, the site is separated by a road so I guess that each is on one side of the road. We must have been in the Beach Club side. The Thomson properties are down the far end of the park and not in the main site. It was nice and quiet and only a short walk back to the facilities. Pool, park, restaurants were all separated anyways and not in one busy area.

Reviving this thread as we are looking at this area for a late booking for this summer.

I saw a mention of a 35 degree temperature above. Is that normal for August? Might need to head off to the mountains or Atlantic coast if so.

I neeeeed some sun so we are looking at flying to Carcasonne, and hiring a car. Any advice/recommendations v. welcome

Hi longtallsally2, we went to Yelloh Le Brasilia in Canet-en-Roussillon (on the coast east of Perpignan) last year and loved the site. It is right on the beach and has a great pool and slides, perfect for a younger child like our DD (then 3). They have a mini club show every night which DD also loved and later adult entertainment of the musical variety later on. DD also loved this and so we had quite a few late nights.

Only problem with the site is it is not really near anywhere exciting, certainly not within walking distance.

Our friends went to a Castels site further along the coast - Le Criques de Porteils - which had been recommended in Cool Camping mainly because some of the pitches have fabulous sea views. We visited them and the views were lovely. The pool area wasn't quite as exciting as the Yelloh one (imo) but had everything you need (pool, obv and a waterslide). They loved the site and the best thing (in my view) about it was its proximity to the lovely old town of Collioure. We spent a couple of afternoons there and had a brilliant time.

This year we are going round the coast further to near St Tropez and staying in another Yelloh site, which appears to be closer to a nice town than Brasilia was. So fingers crossed.

By the way, we did an afternoon in Carcassonne and it really is worth a longer visit. Absolutely beautiful.

Thanks Mummy. I'm v. tempted - I think my teenagers would prefer the busier site. Did you go in August? What was the temperature like? I'm very tempted by Camping Les Champs Blancs too . . . though it is very near Beziers and we will be going out the day the bullfight festival ends!! 1 million people who may be heading for the beach!! Eek

MummyPigsFatTummy · 03/06/2014 11:39

No, I am afraid we went in September and the temperatures were definitely dropping off, particularly in the second week (albeit this may have been as a result of the aftermath of a big storm). The first few days were hot though so I suspect August would be a lot warmer.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 03/06/2014 11:44

Ooh, just looked at that site you mentioned - Les Champs Blancs. That looks lovely - definitely storing that one away for future reference!

We are booked into another Yelloh this year (late June/July) but we definitely won't be able to afford it in school holidays next year. Mind you, Les Champs Blancs looks like a similar quality so may be out of our range too - DD is going to get quite a shock at the drop in her holiday quality once she starts school!

When she is older, I can recommend buying your own tent/blow up beds. You can go to le Grangeoir on the Vendee very reasonably if you book directly with them, or there are lots of reasonable places in the La Rochelle area - very driveable from the UK, if you get the overnight ferry to Caen

grocklebox · 03/06/2014 12:49

We went to Les Sablons and really loved it. We hired bikes and went to lots of places that way, but we did also have a hire car to go further afield.
We flew to Carcassone, spending our last night there, and it was beautiful. I would recommend the site and the whole area.

MummyPigsFatTummy · 03/06/2014 13:44

Oh, we are going in our own tent longtallsally2. We mostly do now. DH drives down through France with all the gear and DD and I fly down and join him (DD suffers with car sickness so long drives take so long it is barely worth going).

You are right, of course. We will just have to start going to sites with fewer bells and whistles. Problem is, DD does love a good waterslide and they do tend to be on the more expensive sites. Hence, once we are tied to school holidays, she is just going to have to get used to sites with just a pool or whatever.

longtallsally2 · 03/06/2014 17:58

Did you go in August Grockle? If so how was the temperature? And how were the bullfighters?

grocklebox · 03/06/2014 19:54

No, we went in mid-June, we always go earlier in the summer. The temp was lovely then, late around 26-29 degrees.
