Gawd, the minimalists will kill us.....

It was Someone Else's idea, all right?

Carry on where you left off, be it owls, bins, sharks, tins of vodka, karaoke etc. [grain]

Actually she lobbed 2 bottles over MisSal (thought I had read her latest post before and double checked that I wasn't going mad!) so we're safe

ChippyMinton · 01/09/2011 20:16

I need that reisling.
In my garden are two tents, and six children. It's like Enid Blyton come alive out there. We have a chimineacampfire, s'mores on the go and the rudest campfire songs that a group of under-10's can muster.
I will be sleeping in my bed, though, with the window thrown wide to capture any nocturnal sounds.

< disclaimer > I slept out there last week, and the children ignored me. Hurrah I am redundant Grin

I do hope you get your gaz slubber.

MisSalLaneous · 01/09/2011 20:18

Ooh fantastic Yellow, I missed that.

In case anyone wonders, Yellow and I are always this happy. Nothing to do with wine consumption.

notwavingjustironing · 01/09/2011 20:25

She didn't send me any and I waited by my post all flipping day ! Grin

Passing the laphroaig around. I have decided it is not disrespectful to have it with honey as a toddy. However, it is with Spanish lavender honey so there is a giant clash of accents in my mug.

I am watching the third man. It goes with the eastern European vibe I am feeling from die slubberine.

ChippyMinton · 01/09/2011 21:23

Gah! I have to camp after all.

I'm working my way through Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy dvd at the moment, and reading The Book Thief Smile

MisSalLaneous · 01/09/2011 21:34

Ooh bramble, Laphroaig, you say? You're a woman after my dh's own heart. I think I broke his heart when I kept gagging every time he tried making me taste another type of whisky, convinced that I had, apparently, just not tried the "right one for you" - Laphroaig one of his favourites. Poor soul gave up on me. In my defence, I like the rest of the alcoholic beverages out there, so just as well there's something I don't drink!

Oh, I'm obviously not telling dh about your honey addition. It might make him cry.

notwavingjustironing · 01/09/2011 21:42

I love whisky. It's a bit of a party trick guessing which one is which. Drives my BIL mad as he thinks only men should drink whisky.

YellowDinosaur · 01/09/2011 22:03

I think whiskey is vile. Up there with tequila.

Sorry my conversation isn't going to be up to much tonight. Watching 'The Killing' - we have many episodes on sky+ - sadly the subtitles mean that I can't multitask and chat to you lot too! Its pretty good though!

SeaShellsInTheMoonlight · 02/09/2011 08:33

I like whisky, but dont drink much these days.

I'd love to watch the killing, for for some reason our tv reception is awful at certain times of the day, last night it was channel 4 and all related channels turn to be unwatchable Hmm our landlord's response was "just get sky" ...helpful Grin

Another autumnal morning, but beautiful. Sat on kitchen step looking at view with ds1 whilst dd2 is having an early nap-5.30am is not good! Just got ds through the early waking phase, only for dd to start!

Books-currently reading The Hours for my book club-I'm going to treat myself to Miss Dalloway as well as I love the writing :)

Funtimewincies · 02/09/2011 08:38

I loved The Killing when it was first shown. Dh and I spent hours discussing our theories Grin. I do like a good spy thriller too and gave away copies of The Spy WHo Came In From The Cold for World Book Night.

Dinner was lovely, although poor dh has a headache this morning (lightweight).

I HATE clothes shopping, it's just too depressing Sad. I'm 5' with size 10-12 bottom half but with a 32G frontage and so size 16 top half. I can never find anything to fit and the few things that do are too expensive. Luckily dh has a crush on Felicity Kendal in her Good Life days and is more than happy for me to wander about in my allotment trousers and muddy top. Trying to look presentable for the rest of life is a bit of a challenge though Confused.

Off to the post office this morning to pick up my parcel of Sunbites to test Grin.

Slubberdegullion · 02/09/2011 08:39

dh in OBI markt. on tenterhooks in the pointy brackets. happy anniversary funtimes

brambleschooks · 02/09/2011 08:44

Happy anniversary funtime Grin

Good to hear that slubber. I shall consume hot black coffee and toast in an easterly direction.

Slubberdegullion · 02/09/2011 08:48

yeeeeeeeeeees we have gaz
lobs crates of reisling and pear schnapps back to blighty

ChippyMinton · 02/09/2011 09:00

Phew, I didn't send Dr Slubber on a vild goose chase then!

Schapps for breakfast? Why not?

Funtimewincies · 02/09/2011 09:06

Gaz success!

Excellent news Slubber Grin.

MisSalLaneous · 02/09/2011 11:26

Yay on gaz!

I am traumatised. I've just done a huge clearout of my underwear drawers, and threw out half a binbag full of pretty undies. Lacy, silky, beautifully shaped pieces of seduction. Most of them brought back by dh from business trips abroad. I am now left with fitting, but horrendous cotton monstrosities. This is going to be a single child household, you mark my (comfortable) words.

Ds starting "big school" next week. Nursery year of big school, but still in a formal set-up and at the school he'll stay at. To celebrate, I promised him we can go to the coffee shop for lunch and he can have whatever he fancies. Apparently he's having chocolate cake for lunch. Grin My genes through-and-through, this one.

brambleschooks · 02/09/2011 13:29

Go Sal! I have recently done the same, although i did then go on a bravissimo raid as I have to match in case I get mown down by a tractor on my way home from work.

V pleased re gaz. I think that this will all make a very good book,ja?

YellowDinosaur · 02/09/2011 17:37

Great news on gaz!!! Yippee!

Another midget here funtime - I too am 5ft nothing and for extra comedy value my dh is 6ft 4!!!

Good luck to MisSal's ds next week for big boy school! Yippee! Nice one on the chocolate cake lunch too Grin!

I have had a day off work today to have a special day with ds1 - he specially requested it because I now have 2 days a week with ds2 while he is at school. On asking him what he wanted to do he said he wanted to spend it with his 2 best friends - so not a special day with mummy afterall then! We had a nice moring playing cars and eating cake though then met them for a pub lunch and castle visit (ds1 LOVES castles). The 3 of them ran around like loons while us parents chilled out so all good! Off to cook tea now but back later... No killing spoilers please! Smile

lovecat · 02/09/2011 17:56

Yay re. Gaz!!

Happy Anniversary, Funtime, hope you had a lovely (fun)time :)

Sal, I have a corner of a drawer with nice silky lacy things stashed in there in the hope of my mahoosive arse shrinking enough to get back into them one day... I think perhaps I should be a tad more realistic and chuck them.

Yellow, sounds like a lovely day. DD was dropped off to me at work by my niece pm her way to an interview [fingers crossed] and we went out for lunch (I told DD she could have anything she wanted and she said sausage, mash and beans, so we went to S&M in Spitalfields and had Eton Mess for afters - yep, that arse isn't going to be shrinking anytime soon!), then back home, filled up the paddling pool and have been splishing around all afternoon. She has now created a pet shop in the living room and I have to go be a customer. Back later...

ReshapeWhileDamp · 02/09/2011 21:22

Hoorah for Gaz! Am still sniggering at porky German love (have just caught up on last 2 days of thread).

Bunting made from small precious scrap of souvenir fabric from San Diego Old Town, ScaryT, not from wraps Shock. but I think wraps and precious fabric scrap originate in same part of South America. Grin

Am totally and completely buggered knackered after a mere three days away. Don't know how people manage it for longer, but sure it'll get better after a few years. We are now at our local festival, not camping as it's 5 mins down the road. There is folk and beer and good food. I now have a pewter tankard hanging off my rucksack like a good folkie. [grain]

Festyboy had his precious curls cut today at barber's. It was traumatic for all concerned, but actually he still has a lot of hair, and merely looks a bit less like Milly Molly Mandy.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 02/09/2011 21:29

Sal - re. silky pants - I admire you. I just can't chuck mine out, however much I know they'll never fit my bum again. Presume charity shops don't want barely-used sexy undies? I mean, what do you do with them? Maybe they could be upcycled. As purses. Or scarves, or something.

Or bunting! Grin

YellowDinosaur · 02/09/2011 21:30

So now we have slubber and her porky love and lovecat going to s&m for lunch Grin[grain] The smutty mind boggles!!!

Reshape feel for you getting festyboys hair cut. Ds1 had really beautiful curls when younger to the point that he often got mistaken for a girl - because obviously only girls can have curly hair Hmm and his navy blue 'liittle man' t-shirt would be commonly worn by girls Hmm. I was dreading getting it cut and only did it when it was so long that it was halfway down his back when wet! They grew back. Less curly now though (especially as he ALWAYS wears a hoody which flattens them somewhat) but still there!

More of the Killing now...

YellowDinosaur · 02/09/2011 21:33

Re slinky undies - not chucking mine out. Not THAT far off but enough unless I cut the wine and snacking with said wine! Have plenty of lovely practicalish matching ones that do fit though - I'm a bit partial to nice undies Smile

MisSalLaneous · 02/09/2011 22:21

Hmm, I now feel a bit scruffy. Should perhaps replenish non-scary stock. Reshape, yes, you see my problem with the throwing out is exactly that - I had to throw them out, would be pointless to keep them as all sets. Even if I could be bothered to stop eat(ing) chocolates, which might help for bottom size, my breasts have changed so much after ds's birth that it is highly unlikely to ever go back to that cup size. Broke my heart to just bin them though - there are currently hundreds of pounds worth of beautiful clothes in a bin bag in the garden. Charity shops (and even Ebay) won't do used though, and I thought the "leaving on the pavement for a day to see if anyone wants it" thing probably didn't apply to clothes. Especially that kind of clothes. Hey ho, perhaps the bag will tear on bin collection day and I'd cheer up a weary bin man. Bunting link made me laugh!

Enjoy the festival, Reshape! Love camping, but I do think it's nice to have a proper bed every now and again. Don't think I could ever do camping for weeks at a time. Am too much of a whimp lady. Wink
