Yep we are off for three nights to Suffolk.... not really to avoid the wedding but to make the most of a four day weekend!! The campsite is having royal wedding samba party. So should be fun!!!

chicaguapa · 25/04/2011 20:33

Yes, we're off to sunny Southampton for 3 nights. But I will be watching the wedding and I have bunting. Grin

pipsy76 · 25/04/2011 20:40

Is the weather really looking good. I am very greedy and have just returned from 3 lovely nights camping near clacton I am itching to go again next weekend but am a fair weather happy camper, do you have inside information on the weather? Grin

hillbilly · 25/04/2011 20:45

We are off to Kent for our first trip of the year. Can't wait! Forecast for south east is showers on Friday then dry and around 18 degrees for the rest of the long weekend.

Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 11:38

hello there DB

We are folk festivalling this weekend. Have not done it before. I intend to eat a lot of sausages and pies and drink pints of ale and then may succumb to jigging up and down a bit although having injured myself last weekend I may have to sway and nod from a seated position.

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 14:24

get you slubber! enjoy your second youth

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 14:51

yeah

not feeling v youthful at present with old lady shuffly limp plus frayed tubigrip leg.

Maybe the folky music and ale will infuse me with restorative health and vigour.

Have you decided yet where the weather willl be suiting your clo oooh ooh oothes?

Nikkid21 · 26/04/2011 16:23

Off to dernwood farm in sussex Friday at 7am for 3 nights Inc my birthday and a falconry display in the camping field in Saturday.

Am taking an old steel washing machine drum to try out as a campfire/ brazier.

Lucycat · 26/04/2011 16:29

howdy slubber - where are you folkfestivalling then?
Does it require bunting? Grin

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 16:37

poor old lady legs. liberal libation is what i prescribe.

the weather is currently suiting my clo oo oothes on the n. west coast or dumfries and galloway. i am leaning to nw as it going to be 20 oc and no midgies, but dh is baulking at the driving.

OP posts:
DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 16:39

arf @ slubber bunting it up with the glampers

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 16:58

Howdy there yourself Lucy. We are going to the Green Man at Clun, which is not the big green man but (looking at the website) a more sedate villagey affair with pub stops and public conveniences that flush.

And a to your bunting query. Your Easter sounded lovely btw

I do not have generic old lady legs thankyouverymuch but a proper sustained injury that I am brazenly seeking some proper sympathy for

Surely a drive to avoid midgies is worth it. Do you not drive the van?

JemimaMop · 26/04/2011 17:12

I wish I was camping this weekend. Got back last night from a long weekend in Beddgelert and would happily go again this weekend, but DH has to work on Saturday and apparently on Friday we are painting the kitchen Hmm

Clun brings back happy memories of a Duke of Edinburgh's Award camp there when I was in my teens. We got spectacularly lost on Long Mynd in a storm and they had to send search and rescue out to find us Blush Gave my mum a few grey hairs in the process!

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 17:13

of course i drive [looks over shoulder for feminists] just the long haul i suppose. tis worth it imo

OP posts:
Slubberdegullion · 26/04/2011 17:29

Oh yy surely worth it for nice sunny weather and not being eaten alive.

Jemima I'm hoping search and rescue will not be required for us. I'm looking forward to seeing somewhere different that isn't in N Wales.

DuplicitousBitch · 26/04/2011 17:30

midge will not be out anywhere yet though. you green man thing looks interesting.

Ineedalife · 26/04/2011 17:32

I am off to Bala with Dd3 and some friends. They are in a Tin Tent and we are pup tenting along side themGrin.

We are hoping to do one of Julia Bradbury's railway walks on Sunday. I can't wait.

Oh and we have bunting and Cup Cakes for friday, but no tellyGrinGrin.

Oblomov · 26/04/2011 17:38

Me !!! Inside park in Dorset. Can't wait to christen the cadac, and the plastic huge wine glass, with some rose. lovely.
Is it going to rain ? I bet you it will piss it down. Not good. Not like the last 2 weeks.

JemimaMop · 26/04/2011 19:27

I can't talk, I've spent yet another weekend in North Wales...

Is that the Mawddach Trail Ineedalife? If it is it is lovely. We have camped in Bala a couple of times at Glanllyn. Coed y Brenin forestry centre near Dolgellau is also nice if you are that way.

Grockle · 26/04/2011 21:16

We're meant to be camping at Swanage this weekend but weather looks abysmal

Ineedalife · 26/04/2011 22:23

Oooh yes jemima..I am so exited, I did my gold d of e expedition in the area, about a million years ago and have been trying to get back ever since.

3 kids later and finally I am going, taking Dd3 and 2 friends on bikes so hoping to get a good walk.

If its raining I will dam well go in me welliesGrin

We are staying at Glanllyn. It has good reviews so I am looking forward to it.

chicaguapa · 27/04/2011 07:31

Just found out our forecast is heavy rain showers for Friday, Saturday & Sunday. There's not much time for that to change. Angry

I went to Swanage in August last year and the weather was abysmal. We were camped on a hill with lovely views of the castle, but we sat in a damp cloud for half a day after the rain had stopped. It was miserable.

Grockle · 27/04/2011 07:43

Oh Sad the last 2 times we've been, it's been beautiful sunshine. We're not going if it rains (new tent, not yet been seam sealed)

pipsy76 · 27/04/2011 18:42

You have all encouraged me to book now, we will be in thetford forest, weather looks good here ( there's one more space available out of 150 pitches!!!)

Grockle · 27/04/2011 20:25

We've decided to go, regardless of weather. Am very envious of the glorious sunshine predicted for Thetford.
