Anyone else with at least 10st to lose?

HerRoyalStressHead · 23/07/2023 22:25

I'm ashamed to say I'm at my heaviest ever weight of 21st 7lb.
Ideally I want to lose 11 stone.
Now, there are some things that hold me back. I'm on a metric shit ton of medication and I'm in a wheelchair, electric as I'm too weak to push a manual.
It's time I knuckled down and got on with it.
Is anyone else up for joining me?

I'm sorry. Am not trying to be offensive. I honestly don't understand.

Very easy to gain a lot of weight.

Here's a story of a woman losing 7 stone for example:

'I lost seven stone by cutting out three things - incident on plane forced me to do it' (msn.com)

Hi can I join please. I need to lose about 8st to be in the middle of healthy bmi. I'm can't imagine being that small, so I'm aiming for 6 to start.
I'm doing low carb because of diabetes. I've lost some weight already, but don't know how much. I'm down 2 dress sizes though.

HerRoyalStressHead · 05/08/2023 00:54

Hi millicent of course you can join! Well done on the weight loss so far

How on earth can you be 10st overweight? very easily when you're disabled and can't walk, and are on a range of meds which increase appetite due to MH problems.

HerRoyalStressHead · 05/08/2023 00:57

Hi richer sorry to hear you're disabled too. Its difficult but we'll manage it

I'll join. I was roughly your weight 4 1/2 month's ago OP. I went to see my GP my blood pressure was through the roof even though I'm on BP medication so that got increased. She took blood and apparently I'm pre diabetic too. Anyway she has put me on Ozempic because I'm only 5 foot so my BMI was 60. I've had a bit of a side effect of constipation but apart from that fine. I've managed to lose 3 stone and 1 pound. Problem is even though I'm still taking it the weight loss has stopped. I've had my dose increased on Monday so hoping I start to lose more. I've been told by dietician to eat low carb, medium fat and high protein. I'm supposed to have yoghurt and berries for breakfast about 8-8.30am. My main meal with plenty of protein and 2 vegetables at 1pm then fruit mid afternoon at 3.30pm then a bit of protein like 2 X scrambled eggs or an omelette about 6pm then nothing else.

Thank you, yes appointment is 10 past 10 today.

I had social services out yesterday for a care assessment so I can have someone to help out that isn't my mum so mum and me both get a break. So hopefully that will generate enough to cover someone for a couple of days a week. They're also going to put pressure on my housing association to make adaptations to my home for me

I also struggle with crisps. If I eat them then binge binge binge. So I have to avoid them completely. I've bought lots of protein rich foods and low calorie snacks for me to grab when I'm hungry.

@Sportycustard that's an amazing achievement! Well done

My weakness is crisps too. Well it used to be. Now I don't buy them.

MillicentTrilbyHiggins · 05/08/2023 01:05

Thanks @HerRoyalStressHead . I also have a weakness for crisps. I didnt buy any this month, I thought the teens would moan but no one has said anything yet.

What meds do you take that increase appetite? Steroids? Antidepressants? If you are not very mobile you don't need a lot of calories for energy.

RicherThanYews · 05/08/2023 08:13

@Judelawswife68 you should really mind your own business, you're embarrassing yourself now. Do you have a PHD in every disability? No, so mind your business.

Everyone who isn't a wanker:

I think my weakness is that without additional carers, my family and I depend on takeaways a few nights a week. Even then there are healthier options though. Now I'm wondering what ozempic is.

HerRoyalStressHead · 05/08/2023 08:21

Does it matter what meds I take? I'm on a lot of different meds, and the sode effects are increased appetite. Pain killers, anti inflammatories, anti depressants, antipsychotics, steroids. You name it, I'm on it.
And no, I don't need a lot of calories for energy. But increased appetite kinda puts paid to that, plus having to rely on takeaways when my mum can't help me means unhealthy options. So yes I'm 10 stone overweight. It's quite easy to do if you take your head out if your arse and realise that not everyone has the same life experience as you.

richer I understand about the takeaways. I'm trying really hard not to buy them and I'm doing better since I bought an air fryer which is easier for me to use than the oven, but it's still difficult

You need willpower, smaller meal portions and healthier food choices. That's basically it.

Omg... thanks for the revelation. Ffs
Do you think we don't know that ?

Kowaii · 05/08/2023 11:15

Can I join? I’m not brave enough to share my weight but I would like to get down to 9 stone.

Judelawswife68 · 05/08/2023 11:17

So if you know it, what's the problem? It takes willpower which isn't easy but what's the alternative? No diet gives you an easy pass. It's really hard, I know that. I've gone from a 16 to a 12 and it was no walk in the park but your stomach does get accustomed to smaller portions and it soon becomes the norm. You can still have occasional treats. Dunno how people can afford so many takeaways. I couldn't but I wouldn't want to. Your motivation to lose weight and feel healthier has to be stronger than the short-term high of over eating junk food.

Knowing it takes willpower and having that willpower aren't the same thing.

This is a thread where people can support each other to make those changes. Helping and encouraging others to find it. I'm sorry you don't seem to understand that.

And it's not always as simple as willpower anyway. Mental and physical health issues or medication can all be a problem.

HerRoyalStressHead · 05/08/2023 11:33

Knowing it takes willpower and having willpower are two different things, and having that willpower doesn't come easy for everyone.

Dunno how people can afford so many takeaways

You have no choice when you have a family to feed and can no longer cook. It's that or my kids go hungry. What would you rather I did?

OP posts:
Judelawswife68 · 05/08/2023 11:34

I accept medications can increase appetite and that's tough. I've been there. Losing weight is so hard because food is all around. Food addictions are worse than substance addictions as you can't avoid eating.

Jesus Christ. You are either a troll or exceedingly stupid with no filter and unpleasant.

coreas · 05/08/2023 15:48

@Judelawswife68

What's the problem? Well I am autistic, have ADHD, cPTSD and binge eating disorder so fucking willpower is the problem.

No diet gives you an easy pass. It's really hard, I know that. I've gone from a 16 to a 12 and it was no walk in the park but your stomach does get accustomed to smaller portions and it soon becomes the norm. You can still have occasional treats.

I afforded them by not buying lots of shopping in the supermarket.

I couldn't but I wouldn't want to.

Right so when you say you don't know how people can afford it that's bullshit then? Because if you could then surely you can see how other people might also?

Your motivation to lose weight and feel healthier has to be stronger than the short-term high of over eating junk food.

What? No way! Fuck me, thank you so much for your wise words. If only I had adopted this simple thought.

coreas · 05/08/2023 15:49

Urgh I misread about the takeaways!

Ignore me Blush

I've not seen anyone ask for advice either. (Although some has been given on page one actually)
The way I read this thread wasn't as a "I need to lose 10st, how do I do that?" It's a "I need to lose 10st. Anyone else? Let's support each other"

If you don't need to lose weight then go find another thread to post on.
