Today I’ve had: (one protein bar, fruit salad, 4 sausages, fish chips and veg, 2 chicken thighs and tomatoes) and I’m hungry to the point I can’t concentrate. Does anyone know how to stop it ? Grin since there’s no weight gaining/bodybuilding subforums on mumsnet

Calorie counting doesn't work - and this is one of the very reasons.

Get hold of this book which explains why calorie counting doesn't work, as well as what does!

(I don't get commission for every time I recommend this book, although I really think that I should! Grin)

Duracellbunnywannabe · 25/03/2022 21:22

Have you had 3 meals or just a weird list of foods? How many calories are you having a day?

BIWI · 25/03/2022 21:22

Now I'm confused. Are you trying to gain or lose weight?!

Rivermonsters · 25/03/2022 21:22

@Duracellbunnywannabe yes I’ve listed everything I had today. I eat around 2,400 a day… I’ve not had my snack hence why it seems short

If you're trying to gain, and you're hungry, then just eat more!

I don’t think the OP is trying to lose weight?
Rivermonsters · 25/03/2022 21:24

@BIWI I will, it’s just annoying the feeling

You're probably better off posting in this topic

R0tational · 25/03/2022 21:25

I am enjoying calorie counting. It's working for me :)

Some days I am ravenous and go over my set calories. Other days I am happy with what ai have allocated myself. Perhaps your hormones or activity levels have made you hungry. Maybe just eat what you are craving today.

mudgetastic · 25/03/2022 21:25

Bread with the sausages

Rivermonsters · 25/03/2022 21:25

@BIWI thank you! I’ll have a mooch on there

Potatoes or rice with the chicken

Calorie counting and the 16:8 working week for me, but I did the 16:8 for a few months first and that was really helpful, helped me to manage stopping thinking about food all the time.

BIWI · 25/03/2022 21:29

But anyway ...

If you're still hungry, you need to eat more fat as well as more protein (and more calories!)

Duracellbunnywannabe · 25/03/2022 21:31

Maybe try having carbs more than once a day.

SuckIt · 25/03/2022 21:42

I’m on 2300. Some days I am starving all day and others I comfortably eat 700 under.
Hormones affect my hunger.
I’m hungry days I try to be kind and eat a bit more. I tend to have cup a soups and massive salads to fill myself up.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 27/03/2022 08:54

Why are you trying to fill yourself on low calorie foods if you are hungry and wanting to put on weight?

How often are you having 700 v 2300 calories? If it’s equal then that 1500 calories a day which lots of people aim for when trying to lose weight.

Lubeyboobyalt · 27/03/2022 09:11

calorie counting does work, long as you are accurate and know your TDEE and adjust as weight comes down, and don't overestimate your exercise

Best thing for lowering appetite is low carb (previously the hungriest person in the world)

Duracellbunnywannabe · 27/03/2022 22:03

@Lubeyboobyalt the OP is trying to gain weight

Menora · 30/03/2022 08:34

I found calorie counting does work (either way) but you are hungry as you are eating calorie dense foods. Replace the protein bar with something that has more water content. It will fill you up for longer.

WreckTangled · 30/03/2022 08:40

There's not much food volume there really. Apart from the fish and chips it is all just snacks really so not surprising you're hungry.

WreckTangled · 30/03/2022 08:40

Sorry for the overuse of 'really' in that post Blush

Menora · 30/03/2022 08:42

I agree. When you count calories you could eat them all in a bar of chocolate it’s not going to fill you up. Calorie dense foods like chips, sausages and bars are simply smaller in volume than protein shakes, fruit and veg, soups etc
MistySkiesAfterRain · 30/03/2022 08:49

Agree the food volume is low. Soup is amazing for making you feel full.

Also your diet is very high on protein and low on carb. How much B vitamins are you getting?
