It's beggars' belief, isn't it?

Caligula · 24/07/2005 18:56

Can we post on it and wind them up?

WigWamBam · 24/07/2005 18:57

Don't lower yourself to that level, Caligula.

Ameriscot2005 · 24/07/2005 18:58

I think that is very poor netiquette.

Caligula · 24/07/2005 18:58

But I WANT to!!! PLEASE let me!!!! [norty icon] I might have to have a tantrum otherwise and how will the nannies respond to that? More competently than us stupid mummies, obviously!

Lisa2 · 24/07/2005 19:00

When i become a mother i would like to breast feed if i can, i say that as my mum only breast fed me for 3 days as my suck was too hard and i left her bruised... oops!!

CroNanny · 24/07/2005 19:01

I am not a quolified nanny, I learned on the job. I only studied child development and psychology.
I don't belive text books can prepare you for being a nanny or a mother.
I gained so much experience working as a nanny, no text book or college course can provide that.
I been doing it for over 12 years now.

Ameriscot2005 · 24/07/2005 19:03

How do you keep on top of childcare issues, Cronanny?

Louise1970 · 24/07/2005 19:08

I think this thread should come to an end now. It is so heated. It should be on the six o'clock news. Lets not take this any further. Wherer i live, we can visit 5 doctors with varios midwives, hv, nurses and dos. I had a problem with feeding with my 1st child. I was given 8 different answers to my problem. What needs to be put accross to mothers is. No professional will ever have an exact same answer as the next. You need to go on instinct and people you trust. I know its not a great answer, but lets educate mothers to go by there instincts instead of professionals as they will never get it right they will just keep on using the text books from 1901. Lets just all calm down. There should be appologies, but does not look as though your going to get any. I can not read any more. Its too depressing.. Lets kiss and make up.. I have not written this to upset anyone. Just to end it...

CroNanny · 24/07/2005 19:14

I use my common sense, instinct and all the experience that I have behind me. Also I read (keep on top of current legislation re childcare), sometimes I ask advice from my own mother, as she is fantastic (she brought me up and I turned out allright and I always talk to my employers about what would be the good thing to do in various situations. I listen to other people and what they have to say,
On all that I base my own opinions......

Lisa2 · 24/07/2005 19:19

Are you still there Caligula?

Caligula · 24/07/2005 19:21

Yes, why, d'you want a fight?

hunkermunker · 24/07/2005 19:24

Has anybody read the link to the World Health Organisation information?

Caligula · 24/07/2005 19:24

I did!

Going off to watch Corrie now, so if I don't reply it's not because I'm being rude.

Lisa2 · 24/07/2005 19:25

tee hee, no fight, just wondered if you posted anything?

CroNanny · 24/07/2005 19:25

with a name like that I'd be too scared to fight you

dejags · 24/07/2005 19:36

Blimey Caligula, is this thread still alive. Haven't had time to read through it - did things kick off then?

hunkermunker · 24/07/2005 19:37

Just a smidge, Dejags

serah · 24/07/2005 19:42

Just catching up.
Read the WHO information HM... didn't want you to flounce off in the Beemokha style as no-one took it seriously and made notes. P.S. I don't know HM. I'm not patting her on the back. I'm sure she'd flinch ever so slightly if I did.....

hunkermunker · 24/07/2005 19:44

I don't flounce - no point as I'd only shame myself by being back an hour later!

serah · 24/07/2005 19:50

lol

dejags · 24/07/2005 19:52

Gawd, I made the near fatal mistake of scrolling down.

Ugly, damn ugly.

Lots of lovely brownie points to dejags for steering clear

NotQuiteCockney · 24/07/2005 19:52

Beemokha, I don't know why you flounced there. I agreed with what you were saying, but this thread would be even longer if everyone always said in their posts, "I agree with beemokha, hunkermunker, serah, etc above, and also ..."

Eh, to be fair, this board isn't very huggy-cuddly, if that bugs you, you probably wouldn't enjoy it much.

Lisa2 · 24/07/2005 19:54

No way is it huggy- cuddly... at all.
