Boots breastfeeding policy - love this

Pretty sure ours doesn't.

But next time I'm in there, I'll hunker down by the condoms and feed DS (that'll be a more effective method of contraception to the young blokes than the johnnies ).

Very interesting Boots in central Oxford has a mother and baby room, but its cleanliness is a bit hit and miss. My closest Boots, a much newer one in a retail park, has nowhere to feed a baby as far as I know.

I'd like to test out whether either store knows about the policy -love whomoved's idea about feeding by the condoms....

If I'm in mothercare I always use the comfy sofa that they have in the maternity clothing department....no one puts my baby in a glorified cupboard

Our boots has a room as well with a glider chair in it; very comfy it is too.

My mothercare has a load of tattered old sofas on the salesfloor but out of the way for us to sit on

I can't imagine finding anywhere comfy enough to feed in Boots !

Our Boots has a room with a bizarre little cubicle (complete with shower curtain to pull around yourself when you sit in the teeny tiny chair ) It is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen

I never feed in a baby room, they stink! Great policy though.

I'm with you daisy, I feed my ds in John Lewis & Mothercare on the gliding chairs they have for sale. The staff always comment on how good it is for customers to see a practical demonstration and ds is only too happy to oblige!

We have a huge Mothercare near us and I recently used their "Mother's room" ... Something about the name made me think it would be full of plush sofas and the Flight of the Conchord boys giving foot massages and handing round platters of Krispy Kremes. Pshaw! It was just a vinyl couch, a really old change mat and a sink.

Our Mothercare has a mother and baby room. Nice nursing chairs. OK, with the plastic still on them, but still comfy

So does Ikea, except it's a chair next to the changing table. Or rather next to the nappy bin...

Only ever fed in one Mothercare (and sorry to go against the grain here) and they have a nice big room with a couple of clean change stations, a BF chair and a built-in sofa thingy. Its really nice.

(And no, I don't work for Mothercare )

Wow, that looks great on paper...sadly the room provided at ours is filthy, actually Filthy with a capital F.

There is a great glider chair etc but ugh, I won't even let ds1 climb on it, it's that disgusting.

Have gone in there once and perched on the edge of it to feed, but I would have felt cleaner on a bench outside really.

That said I think they mean well. I guess people have abused the provisions, which would have been brill when first done.

Another thing I hate about baby rooms as well as the above is the chairs they put in there. Why o why do they insist on chairs with arms? Is it just me or does anyone else find it next to impossible to feed their babies on these chairs? DS's legs get trapped or he can't fit across my lap or he bangs his head on one of the arms. Can we please have some armless chairs to feed our DC in?

Mothercare in B'ham had a fantastic feeding room. Comfy sofas, armchairs and glider chairs with foot rests. Magazines to read, soft focus lighting, nice and warm without being stuffy.
Nappy change was in a completely seperate room.
But that was about 4 yrs ago. I don't know if they still have it.

This is great. But Mothercare in Cardiff has a fantastic 'nursing' (hate that word) room, with two of those amazingly comfortable bfing chairs, low lights, nice and cool. It's fantastic, many's the time I've had a nice chat with another mum while bfing DD, it makes it all seem so blissful!

Hmm,

Its a shame they never had that in the branch in my home town, they would not give a lady a chair or let her sit in any of the private areas they had to feed her child.

Those private areas are reserved for people taking methadone...

Our boots closed it's feeding room because apparently lots of people were using it to shop lift! I was gutted as I used to use it all the time for ds1!
