What's going on here then? Surely not self weaning? DS said he was going to feed for ever!

I briefly mentioned this on the "extended" breastfeeding support thread, but wondered if anyone else has any idea if ds is self weaning?

He is 3.5yo and loves breastfeeding. Recently, we have been down to morning/bedtime/night times only. Last week I had a house full of visitors and DS had no routine whatsoever, which meant napping in the daytime, very often attached and feeding.

We were back to normal on Monday, so for a couple of days I felt full when we went back to morning/bedtime only. He seemed to love the extra milk.

Then on Tuesday or Wed, he had a quick shot and said "I can't do it, it's not working" and then the same again on the other side.

I have managed to get from him that there is a tiny bit of milk and that it tastes funny.

So, self weaning? Not happy that supply has adjusted after bountiful extra milk? Losing his latch? (talked about this at LLL meeting this morning, most thought it unlikely that he would lose it overnight) or something else?

What do you reckon?

You're not pregnant, by any chance?

mawbroon · 28/03/2009 10:21

Unlikely tbh. Have been ttc for the last 2 years with no joy. Presumably due to breastfeeding. But hey, you never know, I'm on TWW at the mo.

I got pg after ttc for 2 years when DS was 3... Does it hurt to feed him?

mawbroon · 28/03/2009 10:45

no, doesn't hurt. I was briefly pg last Jan but only got to 6 weeks so I remember the sore nips feeding. not like that at all

Any chance that you've eaten something different and that's made it taste funny?
Here's hoping that you are pregnant!
(we went to the LLL group together once, I was LuXander a long time ago!)

mawbroon · 28/03/2009 12:42

Hey Fairylights! i wondered where you had disappeared to!

I am now imagining all sorts. I have just had a weird pain in my lower abdomen which i have convinced myself if implantation!

thing is, if i am pg, then the due date will be my birthday!

I reckon I would be quite likely to have a section, so would probably be the week before.

Anyway this is all purely hypothetical at the moment!

Well, tonight he said there wasn't much milk, but enough. Tastes normal apparently....

Have metalic taste in mouth. Not sure if it's real or imaginary though.

Sorry, it's all my fault!

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/03/2009 20:51

I thought pregnant after reading the OP too mawbroon. I so hope that it is. When are you due to find out?

mawbroon · 28/03/2009 20:54

Today is 10 days after ovulation. Both previous pregnancies have implanted on day 10. (See earlier post about weird pain this afternoon)

Tested this afternoon but it was negative, of course it could be too early.

FFS I go through this pish every month. Surely one time I will get a BFP

Am crossing fingers for you for next few days .

kalo12 · 28/03/2009 21:08

good luck

mawbroon · 28/03/2009 21:12

Thanks Even if it is a BFP, I can't get too excited after last time. I guess there's no harm in wishing for it though...

BFN this morning, but it is still super early and I have some pink bleeding which only ever happens when i implant!! Still not getting too excited though......

OK I've been lurking but now I have to post as I'm dying to know! Keeping fingers crossed for you

Babieseverywhere · 29/03/2009 13:23

mawbroon, Awww, possible pregnancy, how lovely...got my fingers for you

Babieseverywhere · 29/03/2009 13:25

got my fingers crossed for you (Sorry NAKIng)

Grendle · 29/03/2009 17:52

Keeping everything crossed for you Mawbroon. One month it will happen you know .

ilove · 29/03/2009 18:27

oooh! My first thought was pg too! I got preg when fully breastfeeding AND using condoms...oops!

mawbroon · 30/03/2009 13:57

Another BFN today, along with some brown spotting.

CD 27 (ovulated on day 14) so I am guessing this is AF rather than implantation.

I am pretty sure I have been pregnant though, just not pregnant enough to get a BFP. I am a tea-aholic and today it was tasting all chemically and disgusting, I was feeling sick yesterday at the smells in the supermarket and I feel my boobs a bit sore. As well as highly irriated at the smallest things!

Ah well, there's always next month (again)

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/03/2009 22:38

.

mawbroon · 30/03/2009 23:02

AF still not started, think it will soon.

But, on the plus side, this has been my longest luteal phase since I started ttc, so that has to count for something....
