BACKGROUND

I had a very difficult birth with BabyG - emCS under GA after 24 hours of labour, lost a lot of blood during the CS. Was exhausted but determined to BF. BabyG was BIG (10 9) and was almost constantly at the breast - on day 2 (I think) a MW snapped at me "this baby is starving" after I'd refused to let them "top him up" for the millionth time so I let them (and sobbed as they farking did it).

INCIDENT A

A woman today told me I'd ruined the baby's gut by allowing them to give him some formula. It was the only bottle of formula he has ever ever had (now 15 weeks). It is bollocks isn't it? I'm sure it is!

INCIDENT B

As I sat BF the baby yesterday, my (childless younger) sister said to me "urgh I think BF is awful, it makes me cringe, I won't be doing it if I have childrne, its gross". I thought "fuck off" but said "well you have to make your own choices. Ido it because blah blah blah and its a bit hurtful of you to say these things to me as I sit feeding". I bit down the response I really wanted to give

What I am really interested in is:

Who made comment A to you MamaG and what did you say in reply?

I think you may have done your sister a favour if you'd said to her "have you any idea what an ignorant thing that is to say and why would you think it appropriate to say it to me when I am actually breastfeeding you silly girl?"

or the like.

Minty is sort of did say that to my sister but usoing different words. My Big Sister Brain broke it down as follows:-

"well you have to make your own choices TEACH TO BE LIBERAL

Ido it because blah blah blah EDUCATE

and its a bit hurtful of you to say these things to me as I sit feeding" CHIDE

It was a woman at a kids party I took DS1 too (!) I was feeding teh baby and she said "oh how lovely to see a BF baby, do you exc bf?"

me "Yes I do. Well, apart from one bottle whilst I was in hospital"

Her "oh dear what a shame. That will have ruined his virgin gut, you shouldn't ahve let them"

me "I was so tired I wasn't thinking straight"

mate CHAGNED SUBJECT SHARPISH!

Oh, I would have smiled sweetly at the woman and given her my best 'You are clearly a loon' look, then moved away swiftly.
