feeding bras for large breasts

misdee · 20/12/2008 20:43

i need to remeasure (kids been paying with my tape measure and cant find it atm), but i am above a 40DD atm, and want some lovely feeding bras to buy after xmas.

i havent bought any yet as last time my breast size took ages to settle down properly and i ended up with loads of different size bras.

breasts have settled down now and really need to get bras sorted, atm, have my pre-pregnancy ones on and just pull the cup down, but they arent very supportive.

Some of the Royce ones here are quite nice.

yousaidit · 20/12/2008 21:04

misdee, i'm bit busy at mo, but i got some bras and dc didn't feed so they haven't been used, they're a 40f, leave a message n thread and i promise i will try to remember to look here to see if you've replied so you can have them f you want, i've either got 2 or 4, in pale colours.... but be warned, they still aren't very supportive, i think two are miriam stoppard ones from debenhams and might be n e cup, but i'll check..

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 20/12/2008 21:11

I'd get yourself to Bravissimo! I completely swear by them, I've not found anything better than my Bravissimo ones.

NorktasticNinja · 20/12/2008 21:15

IME BF bras that lovely and supportive and large sized are don't really exist

I use these kits to adapt normal bras that I like, fit me well and provide good support. 'tis very easy and totally solves the problem.

When you measure don't add anything to your rib measurement, that used to be the rule but it no longer applies (although M&S still do it ggggggrrrrr). Just use both measurements as they are and take it from there.

misdee · 20/12/2008 21:19

ohi think a trip to MK is in order then

do all bravisimo stores hold feeding bras in stock?

so 38 round the back with nothing added on

and 49inches round fullest part of breasts makes me a what size?

am confused now lol.

NorktasticNinja · 20/12/2008 21:32

One inch difference between the two measurements is one cup size, so 9 inches makes you ... A, B, C, D, DD, E, F, G, H... a 38H! Impressive norks

misdee · 20/12/2008 21:33

f*ck me!!!

NorktasticNinja · 20/12/2008 21:33

Oh, and you were probably a 38E or 36F prebaby, so it's not as shocking a change as it sounds

misdee · 20/12/2008 21:35

anita nursing bra goes to an h and is very nice

missingwine · 20/12/2008 21:46

Royce bras are great and Emma-Jane bras are pretty good too; emma-jane.com

whomovedmychocolate · 20/12/2008 21:48

Mine are a 32K and I have very supportive Royce Bras but I go to John Lewis.

Bravissimo don't offer them in my size as I'm too big to fit their nursing bras

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 20/12/2008 22:14

NorktasticNinja I love my Bravissimo bras. A well fitted bra should be supportive. If it doesn't look good and isn't supportive then it's not the right size. I put one of my old wired bras on once when I didn't have a clean nursing bra I couldn't wait to get it off! It hurt and looked awful.

misdee they should have everything in. Book yourself an appointment with them and they're great at fitting. I've noticed a lot of people tend to come down a backsize or too when they go there - especially if they've been fitted by someone like M&S before. I agree with NorktasticNinja about your size - no need to add unless you're an odd number then it's just rounding up.

whomoved, I'm getting worried because I'm sure I've gone up again and I know I'm pushing the top even of Bravissimo!

llareggub · 20/12/2008 22:17

Another vote for Bravissimo!

Even if they don't have things in stock they'll order them free of charge and get them sent directly to your home. But they've never let me down yet.

HolidaysQueen · 20/12/2008 22:26

Another vote for Bravissimo here

wmmc - I got a 36K from Bravissimo. When did you try? My last one in that size was about 6 months ago.

My bras were Royce - comfy, easy to unfasten and fairly supportive,

ilovelovemydog · 20/12/2008 22:31

I live in these

llareggub · 20/12/2008 22:37

Thanks for that, ilovemydog. I shall definitely order one or two of those.

wilkosroastingonanopenfire · 20/12/2008 22:37

i went up to a 40H freya bras very good

ChirpyGrinch · 20/12/2008 22:48

Um, sorry to spoil the measurements but 38" and 49" actuallty makes you more a 42FF

You add 4" for an even measurement and 5 for an odd, not the actual ribcage size (have no clue why, was probably dewsigned by a man, but used to fit bras for a living)

ChirpyGrinch · 20/12/2008 22:49

Sorry, meant 42E (FF is me[doh]

ilovelovemydog · 20/12/2008 22:51

They are brilliant - under a black blazer it looks lovely in white - like a camisole.

And best of all, it's like a nursing bra, but at the same time covers your tummy

ChirpyGrinch · 20/12/2008 22:56

Figleaves are great as well, got all mine from there but I have washed them too much so I can't read the labels, have no clue what bradn tehy are!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 20/12/2008 23:01

You don't add 4" or 5" onto measurements, that's the reason an incredibly high number of women in this country are wearing the wrong size.

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 20/12/2008 23:03

That should say "you don't add 4" or 5" anymore".
