feeding bras for large breasts

i need to remeasure (kids been paying with my tape measure and cant find it atm), but i am above a 40DD atm, and want some lovely feeding bras to buy after xmas.

i havent bought any yet as last time my breast size took ages to settle down properly and i ended up with loads of different size bras.

breasts have settled down now and really need to get bras sorted, atm, have my pre-pregnancy ones on and just pull the cup down, but they arent very supportive.

Gosh, really? Sorry, didn't know it had changed.

I did this a good few years ago so didnt know that, although I do fit my own bras and they do fit properly even though they are 3-4 inches above my measurements. I must be a weird shape

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 20/12/2008 23:32

They will fit, but not as well. There was an industry wide resize a few years ago so that the extra was accounted for. All you do by adding back size on is bring the cup size down, so overall it fits but the gap between the two makes a difference. A lot of women are now a lot bigger in the cup than they used to be.

ChirpyGrinch · 20/12/2008 23:36

Had no idea about that. I actually am a weird shape as I have a weird shoulder/back/spine thing so that might account for it. Have always had to fit by eye rather than anything else, although I did notice that my rib measurement had gone down while I was pregnant with DD1.
Bit gutted now actually, thought pregnancy had done it!

Take yourself off to Bravissimo, you may be surprised by the size they make you!

higgledy · 21/12/2008 00:02

Rigby and Peller website has underwired ones that are brilliant and big. Before I went there I spent about £100 on rubbish unsupportive ones that killed my back and appeared to do absolutely nothing to put my breast anywhere other than where it wanted to go.

worleywinterwonderland · 21/12/2008 00:12

have a look on the figleaves.com they have a good range

misdee · 21/12/2008 10:01

thanks, have ordered one from bravissimo in 38H to try for size, if thats no good will send it back and go to MK with £100 in hand to try loads on in store.

Another vote for Bravissimo here - they're fab! I find the Freya nursing bras really comfy and v supportive (am a 34G, having been measured as a 40DD by M&S).

DItto to TBM - no need to add the 4/5" any more...most of the support from a bra should come from the band around the ribs, and if you add on the inches, you'll get too big a bra and no support.

misdee · 21/12/2008 13:14

i ordered this one for starters

Bravissimo bras tend to be around the £20 mark anyway, so you could easily get yourself 4 or 5 on £100, perfect

Just need to convince TBD that I need to go into Solihull with £100 to spend on bras now

misdee · 21/12/2008 19:03

dh needs no convincing. if he likes my big breasts then i need to spend to take good care of them...

hence it going on his CC last night.

I swear by the Anita ones from Figleaves.com I've got v.big boobs and really need the support of underwire, which these do - otherwise I look ridiculous without! Not sure how I post a link but the Microfibre nursing bra is the best one for me.

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 21/12/2008 22:27

Wish my OH thought the same! There is a really nice bra in Bravissimo if they have your size, it's pink with a silver thread through it. It's a lot nicer than it looks on the hanger and the silver is real so it is antibac.

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 21/12/2008 22:28

blindhorse, I've never found one that goes up to my size, although I've worn wired since and I don't feel comfortable anymore so I would need to be convinced. What size do the ones you use go up to?

blindhorse1 · 23/12/2008 11:52

the anita ones go up to 48E i think. i do find the underwired comfortable and have never had problems (so far - 4 months in!) with blocked ducts but i know this isn't the case with everyone. good luck with your search!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 23/12/2008 13:28

No where near my size then. I don't think I'm going to try to get one because I don't think they do my size and when I do wear normal bras I don't find them as comfortable as my nursing bras.

blindhorse1 · 23/12/2008 22:03

oh well - worth a try from me. sorry!

TinselBaublesMistletoe · 24/12/2008 00:34

No problem I'm used to it at this size.

elvisgirl · 25/12/2008 23:18

I had the Bravado semi-custom sized one from www.bras4mums.co.uk (a great website with excellent phone advice). They go up to They cover a range of sizes which is really good for the end of pregnancy & early weeks when size is all over the place -not the most supportive but lovely & comfortable & simple poppers on the shoulders not those stupid clips. They cover up to an L cup even in small back sizes.

lollyheart · 26/12/2008 13:02

Im glad i have found this, ive just ordered the same one as misdee ive gone from a 32f to a 34h no wonder my back hurts so much now.

BucketsofReindeerPoo · 26/12/2008 13:14

Get yourself measured by a stockist then have a look on Ebay! (Maybe buy a cheapish one to say thanks to the fitter
