Clare byam-cook.
Am I the only person to have seen her terrible co-sleeping interview the other day?

OP posts:
PoppyCoc · 18/10/2008 23:39

I saw it.

And wanted to strangle her

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:41

I missed it and am bloody glad. Asked my mum to describe the people there and I knew it was her straight away. She makes me literally scream at the TV. What did she say? (apart from shite, obv)

SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:41

where was the interview squalor?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:41

Did you see ehr farce on cross feeding the other week?
Spoiling our children ('if they had a good feeding routine they wouldn't need to so-sleep'...)and stopping them sleeping by co-sleeping!!! and she is supposed to be the bf expert

OP posts:
LadyOfRoffle · 18/10/2008 23:42

Was that This Morning?

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:42

On this morning, let me see if I can find it.

OP posts:
SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:43

thanks

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:43

www.contentedbaby.com/team-Clare-Byam-Cook.htm hahahahhahahah what a surprise her first google is GF.

OP posts:
CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:45

Yes was this morning. She's always full of shite. When that Onions woman was on she said that bfing a toddler hampered their development. FFS. DD doesn't sleep well in the cot but stays there for half the night. In my bed she sleeps well. How exactly am I stopping her from sleeping if she wakes hourly in the cot Don't know why I'm bothering to get annoyed, it's no surprise that she said that. And why is a 'bf expert' talking about feeding routines? Woman is dangerous, she hasn't got a clue.

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:46

Heard her and GF were buddies. What a team!

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:47

Here's a link.

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:47

She scares me, in that she is shoved everywhere lately as The bf woman of the moment, yet slags off co-sleeping and cross-feeding. She even said that if you had a routine you needn't co-sleep, what should a new mother do then?? feed 4 hourly?!!!?!

OP posts:
SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:47

Clare is firmly committed to helping mothers breastfeed but she does not have rose-coloured glasses! Although breastfeeding is ?natural?, she believes that it is still a skill that has to be learned and feels that many mothers fail to establish breastfeeding simply because they receive inappropriate or inaccurate advice.

CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:48

Sorry for multiple posts. 'Babies do not need to be cuddled when they are asleep.' WIsh someone had told DD that

SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:48

Her advice differs from many midwives and lactation consultants because she concentrates on giving advice that she knows will work, rather than following the latest trends and textbook theories.

SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:49

squalor, how is her advice different to the 'experts'?

what an odd claim!

because she concentrates on giving advice that she knows will work,

how does SHE KNOW IT WILL WORK????

PoppyCoc · 18/10/2008 23:50

IMO she seemed to be implying that a good mum would 'solve her baby's problems' and a bad mum would use co-sleeping'

Amen 'sexist pig' Holmes didn't help by saying parents he knew who co slept only did so because they were disorganised - wanker

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:50

www.itv.com/Lifestyle/ThisMorning/Health/Freebirthing123/default.html seems she is against homebirth too.
Surely this woman needs questioning on this?
She disagrees with pretty much everything!!

OP posts:
SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:51

(soz caps on)

rather than following the latest trends and textbook theories.

odd, very odd

SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:51

[bad mum emotion]

VictorianSqualorSquelchNSquirm · 18/10/2008 23:51

I didn't say it was different to the experts.
Just that she claims to be an 'expert'.
Yet even unicef agree co-sleeping has it's place in breastfeeding, so if I were to compare her to experts then it would be they.

OP posts:
CharCharBaGOOOOOOORE · 18/10/2008 23:52

Agree with good mum bad mum associations. She does seem to be being revered as the bing expert who will solve all of your problems, but her information is inaccurate afaics. It's scary really.

SnoopDog · 18/10/2008 23:52

Amen 'sexist pig' Holmes didn't help by saying parents he knew who co slept only did so because they were disorganised did he really say this on live tv?
