ooh, they're lovely!

Given that DS can pull out chunks of my hair, how strong do you think they are?

Casmie · 17/02/2005 08:59

Lovely, rickman!

highlander, from the "about us" section of the site it says: "Little Gems Jewelry is made to be Baby Safe using non-toxic, natural materials. The gems and sterling silver are threaded on professional grade beading wire and the jump-rings are soldered closed to avoid breakage." So I would assume pretty strong - however, I will be discouraging strong tugs (mainly for the sake of my neck )

It never occurred to me but it is actually a good idea. DD has been bugging me for months by grabbing hold of handfuls of my boob and digging her nails in while feeding (ouch). Think it would be good at other times because she is always after hair and necklaces when being carried around.

RudyDudy · 17/02/2005 09:09

These are fab! Never heard of them and initially thought it was going to be some beardy-weirdy nonsense but they're gorgeous. Will definitely be getting one

Beansmum · 17/02/2005 09:12

I would never have thought of it but I really need one! ds has started grabbing hold of me and digging his nails in, it's really quite painful.

I like the heart one on rickman's link

lunavix · 17/02/2005 09:19

Yes I was qouted $2 shipping and am waiting delivery, they really are beautiful !

Casmie · 17/02/2005 09:33

Apparently it costs her $5 for overseas delivery, but she usually pays the extra $3 out of her own pocket (because of the way PayPal is configured). I did pay her the extra $3 because (a) I didn't like the idea of a sole trader being out of pocket, no matter how small and (b) $5 for shipping still seems cheap to me!

lunavix · 17/02/2005 09:35

I don't bf bu I have a baby that rips my hair out.....

plus plans to have another and bf soon!

mears · 17/02/2005 09:43

What a lovely idea - wish I could feed again to try one

scotlou · 17/02/2005 10:38

Wish I'd had one when mine were small. Used to wear a lovely gold chain until ds tugged too hard...

morningmayhem · 22/02/2005 07:28

Really like these. I've just orderd mine

Casmie · 22/02/2005 09:17

Mine arrived this morning, and as you can see - it's BEAUTIFUL! Well made, seems very secure and tug proof. Think the price was an absolute bargain.

Will let you know if it helps ds2 to be less distracted after this afternoon's feed!!!

spagblog · 22/02/2005 09:23

Oh they are so lovely, I want one. How can I justify getting one? We are really skint at the moment.

lou33 · 22/02/2005 09:40

They are pretty, but wouldn't any dangly necklace on a leather cord do just as well, and be cheaper?

nailpolish · 22/02/2005 09:41

i thought that too lou

Casmie · 22/02/2005 10:41

Lou - probably, but a) don't have time to shop outside the home for anything less than essentials and b) these are really sturdy - would take much more than a gentle tug to break them.

(Having lost a gold chain already from my older child playing with it when it was around my neck, I wouldn't risk many of my jewellry now I have a baby who doesn't know better!)

lou33 · 22/02/2005 10:42

agree gold chains would be asking for trouble

Plus I don't think under £20 including postage for a very well made gemstone necklace is extortionate . I will almost certainly wear it after I finish breastfeeding too as it's pretty without being overly fussy.

Sorry, will stop the justification now I'm not on commission, honest...

lou33 · 22/02/2005 10:48

they are nice, they dont need to be just for bfing. Don't you love online shopping?!

Casmie · 22/02/2005 11:01

Oh God yes... she says, sipping a cup of tea out of her www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.com mug
