VictorianSqualor · 26/03/2008 08:33

Lovely.

BumperliciousAteTooManyEggs · 26/03/2008 08:44

I so want to do this! I have just sent the link to my BFC, it would be great to do a similar campaign in my local area. I wonder who funded it?

Piffle · 26/03/2008 08:54

Fab

kiskideesameanoldmother · 26/03/2008 09:47

yesterday I saw a very big poster of a young mother in the local footie top with her strip hoiked up and a baby attached. Some boob flesh was even on display. I was heartened.... will have to find out more and share with MN.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 26/03/2008 09:57

That's genius - someone has clearly thought about this campaign.
The images are aspirational but at the same time achievable.... young women looking great in a variety of different ways, while breastfeeding. I love that they all look like they have a life aside from children - hate those soft-focus images of mothers in a fuzzy maternal haze that you usually get.

Walnutshell · 26/03/2008 10:04

at first glance, excellent way of communicating with young mothers, how refreshing

Walnutshell · 26/03/2008 10:05

bumper - I reckon the site would be more than happy for you to email them and ask

Bouncingturtle · 26/03/2008 10:20

Wonderful - wished I looked that good

northender · 26/03/2008 10:22

The girl from Preston then made it into the local paper (page 3 )but they did a full page rport on her and breastfeeding in general. Was really positive.

determination · 26/03/2008 10:23

lets just remember though, these are professionally done! Most mums don't look that good, well i don't anyway, some morning i think, "did i even brush my hair today?!"

speak for yourself determination. i look like a star everyday.

Bouncingturtle · 26/03/2008 10:36

She does too!!!

I generally look like I've dragged through a hedge backwards... I think I lost my hairdryer when ds was 2 days old lol

Notyummy · 26/03/2008 10:55

This is great. So much slicker and more aspirational than the other campaigns I have seen. We need a lot, lot more of this sort of thing to help to contribute to the normalising of bf.

Highlander · 26/03/2008 11:06

that is bloody fabulous

Highlander · 26/03/2008 11:07

mind you, I think you would have to be under 20 to cope with BFing in 6 inch heels

lackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2008 11:28

That looks great. There is a young mum to be at one of the groups I go to. She is only 17 and wants to BF but is a bit scared about peer pressure etc. I'll bookmark it and send her the link. At least if she can read about other young mums BFing she might feel more galvanised and ready for the critics.

And I'm still sitting with my hair in a towel, but at least I managed to have a shower today

Kathyis6incheshigh · 26/03/2008 11:29

LOL - when I said the images looked 'achievable' I didn't mean on a daily basis....

Disenchanted · 26/03/2008 11:32

Thats fab!

I want to do it!

Disenchanted · 26/03/2008 11:33

Am I turning into Cod?!

lol

Kathyis6incheshigh · 26/03/2008 11:37

That's a thought actually - if you turned up at one of those places that do your hair and makeup and take suspiciously glamorous photos of you, and said 'Right, I want you to take me feeding my baby' I wonder how many would be fine and just do it and how many would think you were weird?

MrsBadger · 26/03/2008 11:41

that's a fab idea Kathy!

I get at least one a year of those 'free photo makeover session - you only pay for the prints' offers

anyone who's bfing who gets a similar offer and has a spare £50 should have the session and buy one print of them looking fab feeding.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 26/03/2008 12:13

Course, you would get all dolled up and then the little bugger would refuse to feed.

helenjohnson · 04/04/2008 22:52

hello all

i'm from the marketing agency that's created this campaign which was originally commissioned by just one NHS PCT and a third sector agency in the North West of England (now being brought to more regions). It has received amazing support both locally and internationally.

We've just had take up of the campaign from more regions in the UK so have undertaken 2 more days of photography last week.

please log on to www.beastar.org.uk to see more great pics of real mums breastfeeding (yes, every single mum is feeding in the shots)

[email protected]

happy feeding and lol, helen x
